The word is autism. That aside, what needs to happen is a professional who knows about the condition needs to support this child. It is good that he has a brilliant brain and the condition is manifested in what is referred to as the triad of impairment. The approach to supporting someone with HFA (Asperger's Syndrome) of this nature is not to suppress this child's ability but to help him develop in the deficit areas of the condition, i.e., speech, social and cognition. Someone can respond tho this comment with the number for the whatsapp group and I'llsee what I can do to assist. By the way, I'm not a doctor but an expert (Jamaican) in the condition living and in the UK.

I am an early childhood tutor and I find kids like him fun. They are high functional beings that deserves other geniuses to teach them. I pray the government understand that their MOE motto they need to live by and stop allowing mediocre teachers to label these children as bad and for some dunce.

But equating the child as a genius when by definition he has a disability of certain senses which makes his other abilities acute is like putting the cart before he horse. This makes no sense to me. This child is going to face many challenges in his life and needs specialized help but the journalist and parents and most people here seem clueless.

Gave him a phone and he played the game without our instructions or help. His dad tried him with a game machine and he maxed everything. Turned out now he's a high achiever and a computer wiz. Lots of questions re:autism which needs addressing & hopefully the relevant authorities in JA will try & make this neurological condition one of their priorities. The current government here in Toronto was put on blast most recently for failing to address this urgent need for parents with children who are affected and the financial burden which its causing for some families. As a matter of fact if i'm not mistaken the uproar costs a cabinet minister (for being insensitive) her seat at the cabinet's table. The folks here in Ontario don't take these things lightly. I hope his parents will continue to advocate for good care & something positive will be the outcome. Who knows, may be, one day he will be the great scientist who finds the cure for autism.
