    I had a warping problem with my tan-65 Yeti. But mine was 3-4 years old. Notified Yeti via email with pictures and they mailed me a brand new 65 within a week. They supplied a return shipping notice for my defective cooler and stated to return it at my convenience. No questions, difficulty or bickering back and forth from Yeti. Now that’s “customer service”. There’s a reason why that other brand only has a 30 day warranty on their products and a 1 year warranty on their hard coolers.

      Mine arrived warped out of the box. I filled out the warranty form online on Sunday and got an RMA and shipping label from them on Monday. In my case, they are waiting until they receive the defective one before they send the replacement. So don’t get to camp with a Yeti this weekend.

      I’ve returned 2 Tundras and one Hopper 12 Flip. The Tundra hard cooler lid was warping and the zipper broke on my Hopper. Yeti sent me a brand new cooler without any hassle within a week. Yeti is probably waiting to receive your damaged cooler before they send you a new cooler because I’m sure they’ve been taken advantage of where people don’t return their damaged cooler.

    Great Video! I contacted yeti about my high country 45 warping in the corners like yours. They said they would replace it just not the same cooler! They offered me the normal white, tan, and navy blue! So I decided to keep it and put ratchet straps on corner of the yeti for 3 days I also put heavy duty zip ties in the 2 side holes. It worked flawlessly!

    It's because of expansion and contraction from one side of the lid being in the heat and direct sunlight and the other being in the cold. Coupled with that the color is dark and it absorbs heat vs reflecting it. I wouldn't be surprised if they discontinued making their coolers dark colors again after this run.

      Thanks for the feedback. I have been very protective of my new gray cooler since exchanging it and that's unfortunate as they are supposed to be able to handle anything right?? I'll stick with white as well from now on. I haven't heard anything negative about the tan and know several people who have owned and abused them. Maybe that color is ok? I noticed yeti just launched their navy color coolers which I would think is worse than gray! Maybe I just got a bad one as I haven't heard much else about the lid warping on any other coolers from them. Thanks again for the comment and enjoy your new cooler!

    I had the same thing happen with the aquifer blue tundra 65. My thought is that the darker color absorbs more heat and the temperature difference from the hot outside and cold inside warps it. All rotomolded lids can potentially warp in hot sun. This is why I prefer a Pelican Elite. The injected molded elites have super burly polypropylene reinforced lids. Polypropylene is more rigid and has a higher melting temperature than the polyethylene of rotomolded coolers. The dark charcoal absorbed heat and softened the flexible polyethylene which bent in response to the temperature gradient across the lid. Polypropylene is the better plastic for lids but cannot be rotomolded. The lid is the failing point in almost all rotomolded coolers. The drain plug is a distant second. You learned a good lesson: stick to white Yeti coolers! If I were you, I’d sell the replacement charcoal Roadie at a slight loss and buy another white one thinking of the lifetime use implications. Stick a few vinyl stickers on the outside to differentiate your two white Roadies.

    • @badkid73
      @badkid73 2 месяца назад

      @@ek8652 all plastic can warp but white is the least risk. There is a huge temperature gradient between the ice cold inside and the sun-heated dark outside on a charcoal or navy colored cooler. White is best for a variety of reasons. It gives you half a day extra ice retention.

      It happens to all colored coolers. I worked at A manufacturing plant in Delano Minnesota making all Roadies and 35 45 and 65 tundras. It happens due to the lids being hit or pushed lightly when they come out of the Roto mold ovens and put in the mold to have the insulation shot inside. It’s just people not paying attention. We used a tool at 2 stations during assembly to check all 4 sides of the cooler to check the gap of the lid and body of the cooler. I can’t remember the exact gauge it was but basically if you can fit your pinky finger up to the fingernail, then we had to scrap either the lid or the entire cooler. I hope this helped!!

    Hi from Down-under (Australia ) Yeti don't sell coolers in the charcoal colour in Australia I thought it was loss of ice retention time with dark lids in our hot sun shine but ma be its a warp-age problem I have a roadie with a gap in the lid insulation regards Mike

      It has to have something to do with the heat but not sure. I'll see how this new one holds up and if I have the same issue, I'll request a lighter color. Thanks for the comment!

      The charcoal cooler has held up well but honestly, I have kept it out direct sunlight and used it indoors on trips, back of the truck type cooler. I have a white one and that one has been out in the sun with no issues. The charcoal cooler looks great but if it's going to be out in the sun a lot I would avoid the issue and buy a white one. Hope this helps. JD

    Hey JD, great video. I gotta question for you. I have a couple yeti's. My roadie yeti lid, doesn't sit quite flush anymore onto the cooler. The seal still engages though. Do you know if the lid should rest flush on the base of the cooler. I was thinking it was warped just a bit, but can't really tell. thx man!

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Butch! I didn't file my warranty claim until the warping started to affect the seal. I believe they should be flush with no warping but some warping on the colored coolers may have to be accepted. If you are within the 5 year warranty period and can provide proof of purchase to Yeti, hit them up and see what they say....good luck and thanks for the comment.

    The fact that they make you ship it back and wait that long for your new cooler IMO is not good customer service. For that reason I’m not buying. They should have just have You keep it or discard it and send you out new one asap.

      They were terrible. RTIC would send me the replacement, I would send them the picture of the new cooler, they told me the lids weren’t correct and to send them back. My order was for 2 coolers, both returned 3 times. After the 3rd time rtic told me they were no longer able to help me and that I should go with a different company.

    This is why all of my coolers are Orca and Pelican. Made in 🇺🇸. It's hard for yeti to do quality control when their coolers are shipped from overseas and made by 10 year Olds. But then again, it's easy to send out all these replacement coolers when they only cost $3 to produce.

    Just got a Tundra Haul last week and out of the box, the lid has one side that doesn’t close 100%. Pretty disappointed that something this expensive has such a common problem. It’s brand new, never been outside, so the fact that it’s Rescue Red shouldn’t be a factor in my case. I put water in it an while only a couple drips came out the right side, water poured out the left side.
