Yes! I love this quote by St Padre Pio regarding gossip and it's helped me a lot. "When you gossip about a person it means that you have removed the person from your heart. But be aware, when you remove a man from your heart, Jesus also goes away from your heart with that man".
Heather, I recently saw your survey asking what type of content you should emphasize. Please, don't change anything! This is the type of information a lot of us need. The name of your channel is a Catholic mom's life. You can incorporate all aspects of your life be at home making, food, fashion etcetera all focused on being Catholic and how your faith affects each aspect of your life. Being Catholic is not just a religion, it is a way of life. You were so helpful to me when I was just coming into the church years ago. I searched for videos about mass and what to expect and your video of how to behave at a Catholic mass what to do was so incredibly helpful. One of the things that you said was for us to go up and receive that blessing when we were in formation to receive Holy Communion. I proudly went up with my arms crossed and thought of you every time.❤
I also saw the survey and didn’t answer as I love all Heathers content. Living a Catholic life incorporates all of these things. You really inspire me to be a better woman
I have to be honest, every time I see the titles of these types of videos, I do a mental eye-roll and assume that this video won’t be applicable to my life and will make me feel inadequate and unworthy. But Heather, my goodness, you have such a beautiful way of delivering these messages. I never, ever feel like you’re condescending, righteous, or judgmental. I truly appreciate the way you share God’s truth while also being honest and vulnerable. You really are a gem, and this is absolutely the ministry God has called you to in this life. Thank you, thank you. ❤
My friend says gossip is “character assassination”. I have experienced people try to disguise gossip as a prayer need. When that happens, I reply, “let’s pray for her/him right now, together.
I was praying the rosary last night and prayed that I can be a virtuous feminine like Mama Mary. Also, not to become a lazy feminine. My answered prayer is in this video ❤
I always look towards the example of St Rita as well. She endured a lot of abuse from her husband. Yet she continued to pray for him. No matter what sufferings and abuse we receive from the world, instead of becoming angry and hardened, we should pray for the suffering and the abuser.
I am a woman, and I can't STAND gossip! It makes really angry. I also, as a Dane, think it is weird, that a "prom queen" is drizzled in attention/honor, when the math genius girl, who can REALLY change the world or environment, just gets ignored. It says a lot about how meritocracy STILL needs to gain foot in high school culture. Being a gifted student is a blessing from God.😊 I love your channel. Say hi to EVERYBODY, both at home and in your Catholic community. I'd love to have some Catholic American friends. Mega-hugs from Copenhagen, Denmark. 😃📿✝️🇩🇰
I love this video! I started implementing these more and more this year and noticed that a lot of my personality has changed, less gossiping, more Christ centered podcast, suddenly my tv habits changed, reading habits shifted, and then next thing ya know I’m serving my home more and more and slow to anger. Just filled with peace and it started with just these basic changes! Wonderful video than you!
I really appreciate this! As my relationship with God has deepened I’ve found myself realizing the same thing with books and movies! I actually came across a quote in the Morning Offering the other day which goes with this! Here’s parts of it “Pastimes we engage in for necessay rest and relaxation should be both enjoyable and edifying. They should refresh us, but they should also encourage our Christian values -- or at least not discourage them.” And also “We need to avoid input that could be an occasion of sin for us or for others, and we need to find out what truly helps us get the rest and relaxation necessary to maintain a healthy emotional and physiological profile. Proper rest and entertainment are in the service of our life mission; they are not our goal. Christians don't live for the weekend; we live for loving Christ and building up his kingdom.”
Hi from a follower in Brazil! I found your channel through Pinterest, and this is the first video I’m watching - it’s absolutely amazing! These are things that might seem so obvious, but we often overlook them in our daily lives. Thank you for sharing, and may God bless you and your family! 💖
This is a very good list. Thank you for sharing. I'm shocked at the TV programs these days - frankly, I find them disgusting. It's hard to find anything decent on TV, so we rarely have it on. I'm also shocked at the way people dress and behave - especially very young children. Everything is hyper-sexualized. People call me a 'prude' and other names to shame me for being modest, but I don't let it bother me. Sticks and stones. I worry about what is pleasing to the Lord, not what is pleasing to them.
I so agree about TV and films nowadays. I often re-watch lovely things from the 1980s and 1990s, like the original “Anne of Green Gables” with Megan Fellows, and the 1995 version of “Pride and Prejudice” and other Jane Austen TV or film versions.
I am sooooooooo happy I found you. Or that God sent me to you. I’m sitting here nodding my head and shaking my head like I know what you are saying. You are a blessing.
As a man, I love your talks; I stopped swearing (out loud) years ago. Unfortunately, I did slip once last month, but that was once, and I have let it go to continue on this path. Our mouths are meant to praise God, even when we aren’t talking about Him. Consider your mouth as a church, especially for us Catholics, since God resides there in His Eucharist. Words like that would never leave a church in real life; therefore, it shouldn’t leave the holy church of your mouth. The reason why swearing is known as foul language is because it truly is foul language.
I do agree with tv and movies being so hard to watch with your kids. You really have to be diligent on screening these things before you let your kids see them. I dress modestly and do think it’s important but I don’t agree that it’s my responsibility to keep a man virtuous. That’s just me and I know not everyone will agree with me. I really loved the story you shared about the gossiping. It’s so easy to say something negative, I’ve been there, but it takes a lot to shut it down and just be nice. This is a great video!
All these are good points, but I especially appreciate that you mentioned modesty and being careful of what media you consume. Those are hot button issues for a lot of people, and I'm glad you brought it up!
I couldn't agree more. It sadly seems that many women these days have forgotten how to blush. I especially appreciate how your videos talk about everyday issues and how they can either draw us closer to God or might push us away from him. Thumbs up to your princess analogy, too. Simple points like this stick in the mind and are easily digested. Bravo! 👏 👏
I usually stop gossip by asking the person who delivers the gossip " Is this something you would be able to say to N.N´s face?" If they hesitate I say, well do not tell it to me then. Gossipping is horrible and I really try to stay away from it at any cost. Thank you so much for your lovely and enlightening videos❤❤.
Heather--I love your list. I struggle with swearing. I only swear with one person. It's horrible, but it seems it the only way this person understands my message. I cannot believe I have resorted to swearing. I don't like it, but I don't know how else to get this person to listen or stop being a bully.
I am in total empathy with you on the swearing. It is an area with which I struggle. I heard recently from a noted Catholic apologist and author that when you are struggling with a serious sin to pray a rosary every day with that specific intent. Ask our Blessed Mother to pray for you and help you to stop swearing. As you are in that zone of meditating on the Life, Ministry and death of Christ and you think about how our sins put Jesus on that cross, there's something that I cannot explain that happens..... suffice to say mother Mary is helping me. It has not been even a full week and the results are amazing. I offer this to you my dear Catholic friend in the hopes that it will help you find relief, and what a relief it is, from this horrible habit. You mentioned that you don't know how to get a certain individual to stop being a bully without using abusive language. Not passing a judgement but using abusive language is being a bully yourself. Be the example of what a person made new in Christ is. Pray for the Holy Spirit to help you to have the right words and actions to help this individual. Pray for him or her. I say this purely out of love ,no condemnation.❤
I agree - my husband is really the only person I swear around, and I picked it up from him (military). It’s not something I enjoy about myself, and I try really hard to moderate my language around my children especially.
7:57 Aside from the earthly problems that often occur while being drunk, I believe that one of the main reasons this offends God so much is because when you’re drunk, you don’t have the capacity to love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. You can’t live for Him while intoxicated. You’re basically abandoning God for a period of time, which is contrary to why He made us. Our lives are meant to be one continuous prayer to God.
It's not just the kids' movies we have to worry about. There was recently a movie out called "Conclave," which was supposed to be about the election of a pope. After reading a couple of reviews on Catholic websites, I learned it's anything BUT a Catholic movie. So, I stayed away from that one. Stay vigilant! Thanks, Heather. 👍
We liked the acting and beautiful setting of the movie. I came in wanting to not like it but I did enjoy it. Yeah, the idea of a dual gendered pope was RIDICULOUS ... but observing evil slowly taking over the conclave voting from one vote to the majority is what is happening right in front of us every day now. Remember the evil cardinal was the first one to vote for himself and the good cardinal finally gave in at the end and voted for the evil one. Jesus is coming back for sure!
Yes! There's also a new movie about Mary on Netflix, I read bad reviews on it and decided to also stay away from it. It's good to practice discernment with movies!
This video is a great reminder.... thank you. Your willingness to share your embarrassing stories help to show your vulnerability and share that avoiding these situations is important as we're ambassadors of Christ.
I also enjoy the housewives series, don’t watch them on Fridays, I enjoy watching where they travel, but I’m dropping series little by little ,it’s just a reminder everybody struggles with & with life
I pray for more subscribers for Heather. I love the way she teaches us on how to be a catholic, on how to be more like Christ, etc. Thank you Heather. God bless you and your family 🙏♥️
PS thank you for being brave and admitting to some choices or behaviors from the past that you no longer follow. I, too, was into The Real Housewives and you're right you know there's really nothing any edifying or wholesome about it now. In the beginning it wasn't too bad but just like you said it changed and we just absorbed the negativity and the foul nature like a sponge and sort of became immune. I will admit that now that I'm retired I find myself watching three soap operas a day. There is not one edifying wholesome thing on there and I could never imagine Jesus and our Blessed Mother watching along with me. You have helped me once again!❤
I love this and I wholeheartedly agree with you on all these. From now on I am going to ask myself if Mother Mary would watch, read, or listen to the things that I am watching, reading, or listening to. That is excellent advice. Like you, I used to watch the Real Housewives and I also watched the soap opera The Young and the Restless and I can't imagine watching either of them now. Both were much tamer back then (10 years ago), but still not good ways to be spending my time. Thank you ❤
Thank you very much for your WONDERFUL video! Truly truly helpful and transformational. Amazing testimony on gossiping and how your schoolmate reacted in an uplifting matter. I will always treasure it! All your videos are great and have helped me to increase my Catholic Faith. Blessings to all!
Excellent list. Agree with them all. An ocasional drink or two for me is more than enough. I have been trying my best not to say bad words, not to gossip and watch and read things that educate me. Also, to learn more about Gods word. I have been attending a worship group (circulo de oración) which has helped me much in learning to praise the Lord. 🙏
Thank you for this topic and sharing your honest experiences. I really appreciate the wisdom and relatability that you impart in your videos. May God continue to bless you and this wonderful ministry!
💯 on this topic! I've been trying to do all of this for many years (even before I converted)....I've always had others pick on me or call me "goody good", etc. The truth of it is ....the only one we should be concerned with is how God sees us and if what we do is pleasing to Him. I've also been praying to be more virtuous and praying to our blessed mother that she shows me how to love her son the way she does. What a beautiful role model we have in her divine heart! Thank you for posting this! I thoroughly enjoyed it ....I also watched TRH shows and then saw the same things in it you did. It is not godly and the Lord calls us to be better than all of that 🩷
I am just recently interested in creating a Rule of Life. I saw a video from Father Ripperger. I would love to see some Motherly examples of what a Rule of Life looks like day to day being specific with the prayers /actions said throughout the day. I know this is just something I personally am interested in but would love to see an example of this as I try to develop my own. God Bless you Heather - I really love your channel!
I love these! And follow mostly all of them now except I have a truckers mouth! Especially at work! It’s bad but with my kids around I try to stop, it’s a hard habit to break.
Thank you for the video. I been Catholic many years.. You mentioned about cussing. God doesn't want us to use it. I realized by watching RUclips Exorcist videos. They hear demons cursing and cussing during the Exorcism. I thought, I don't want to sound like them! That was my spark I realized I needed to not cuss.
First time viewer! I thoroughly enjoyed your video and agree with all of your points. I am not a Catholic, but I am a Christian! All of your points are worthy and wonderful. If more women followed these directives (and Jesus!), the world would be a better place!! By the way, I see that you have a wonderful family. I highly recommend homeschooling your kids. It will help you to point them towards Christ! Just a thought. Pray about it! It is one of the best things you can do for your family. Thank you for the great video. God bless you ❤️
Bring beauty, simple natural beauty. Modesty and femininity…. Back to mass..❤ The last movie I saw was An affair to remember…💕 I thank God for changing me in every way..I am sorry that I took so long to learn. 😔 But I am grateful that I was able to understand, and know of Gods perfect timing…🙏🏻
This channel helped me go from being a nobody to having a nice house built in Florida, with a fixed profit of $20,000 a month despite any global economic crisis.
I used to love the real housewives too! I quit watching cold turkey after I had my kids because my whole perspective of life changed and it was no longer fun for me to watch. I also agree that it got worse and worse every season it was at least slightly wholesome ish back in the day haha.
I love your videos...a real highlight when one arrives! You are so correct about lots of your recommendations, a sad indication of how the world has changed. NOT for the better. Dressing modestly at my age is not hard....as you get older, your body changes sooo much....I need to cover everything!! 😅 Alcohol is also harder to digest as we age...also no longer a problem. Don't get me wrong...I'm no prude, but at 56, life and these things get easier as you really aren't interested in trends and what everyone else is doing. God blees from Australia 🇦🇺
The only people who’s ever gossiped about me is men. Baby men, adult child men- I’ve usually actually been threatening to men, which I’ve always found odd.
Great video Heather. I have never understood women who swear constantly. Not classy at all. Thank you for all that you do. My children are grown now but I really enjoy watching you and your sweet family.
I was the same way with The Real Housewives. I watched them for several years. I decided to stop watching them this year. That was a good decision. Jan R
I think you're on the money with all of these, but especially with your comments on media. Years ago I put my TV away for a couple of months, and when I got it out again to watch a program, not only was I shocked by the language and morality, but I was much more aware of the advertising. ("Buy this because everyone will admire you," and "Buy that because men will want you.") Two months without any TV sensitized me again. I got rid of my TV permanently seventeen years ago, and I don't miss it. I visit an old roommate for a few days a couple of times a year, and she and her husband watch hours of TV every night, and it reminds me of why I got rid of it. I don't want those images and ideas in my mind.
These are not new books, but they are good ones: The Keys of the Kingdom by AJ Cronin. Anything else by him. Christy by Catherine Marshall. Most any novel by Agnes Sligh Turnbull. Walking Across Egypt by Clyde Edgerton. They are not all Catholic, but they are all about living out one’s love for Jesus.
I agree with all of these. I love to read and sometimes I ask for book recommendations and I always ask if the books are explicit or not because some books are basically just p0rn0graphy
T.V. and movie dramas these days is almost like watching soft porn. Especially those geared to young women in college and twenties. If I want to sit down and watch anything for entertainment, it is usually true crime documentaries or medical shows like the old E.R. series or the Pitt- a new series with Noah Wyle. I've started wearing only skirts and dresses to Mass. If I wear pants, it must be with a longer tunic. Modesty is my new creed. This video is fantastic.
I find it hard to find shows that don’t take the Lord’s name in vain. People just drop the name of Jesus like it’s nothing now, not in a praising way. Makes me cringe
Yes! I love this quote by St Padre Pio regarding gossip and it's helped me a lot. "When you gossip about a person it means that you have removed the person from your heart. But be aware, when you remove a man from your heart, Jesus also goes away from your heart with that man".

I love this quote! Thank you!!!!

My kids do that…😢 They are not baptized because of their Protestant father… but that’s a whole other hard life lesson. 😔
@@M.L.E.85 Spot on! Being a Catholic is, indeed, a way of life. We must live out our faith.

This is very good. I love your point that these things can numb us. It seeps into us little by little until we are no longer recognizing it as evil.
So very true! We can only resensitize ourselves by not watching or listening to trashy media, movies, music, TV, etc.

Thank you, Heather! I LOVED this video and will have to rewatch it - so many nuggets of wisdom. ❤
You have a beautiful heart! Love your honesty. Jesus is truly at the centre of your life. God bless you always🙏
Thank you for sharing this video. God bless you ❤
💯 on this topic! It is not godly and the Lord calls us to be better than all of that 🩷
Well said Heather. Love your programs
I love this video ❤ vulnerability and truth.
Love your sweater!
Awww yay I love your videos!
Lots of great and true points.. and you said them very well! 👍🏻
RE Swearing - Trent Horn just did a video on Christians swearing a week or so ago for anyone wanting another good Catholic perspective on the topic 🙂
Great topic... I need work on a lot of these. Thank you for your honesty. I would like to see more videos concerning virtuous women.
Love your advice ❤❤❤❤
what a wonderful woman
So wonderful! I especially have to work on the "no swearing." I think that one is my toughest challenge.
❤ excellent post....thank you. 🙏
Very nice video, thank you.
Si muy cierto, gracias senor por toda tu proteccion
I am just recently interested in creating a Rule of Life. I saw a video from Father Ripperger. I would love to see some Motherly examples of what a Rule of Life looks like day to day being specific with the prayers /actions said throughout the day. I know this is just something I personally am interested in but would love to see an example of this as I try to develop my own. God Bless you Heather - I really love your channel!
Thank You!
Your make up is stunning for your features!
4:10 "Numbing our soul(s)..."
100% true.

You’re so right!❤😊
Becoming A Woman of Excellence by Cynthia Heald…Good for a group study
I love these! And follow mostly all of them now except I have a truckers mouth! Especially at work! It’s bad but with my kids around I try to stop, it’s a hard habit to break.
I also heard that DETRACTION IS a mortal sin
Back to mass..❤
The last movie I saw was An affair to remember…💕
I thank God for changing me in every way..I am sorry that I took so long to learn. 😔
But I am grateful that I was able to understand, and know of Gods perfect timing…🙏🏻
Heather, your guideline about media is superb: Could I watch or listen to this if I were with Jesus or Mary?
Yes that's my NY resolution about the gossiping
Real housewives was my vice as well! I had to give it up. It gave me the I wants.
A virtuous person cannot be bribed
I was the same way with The Real Housewives. I watched them for several years. I decided to stop watching them this year. That was a good decision. Jan R
What is a Reagan dinner?
🙏🏼
Could you recommend any good books? This is something I struggle with.
Don’t put up with abuse- ever. ❤
I use vintage fashion to be cute and modest!
Thank you, Heather 🙂
I agree with all of these. I love to read and sometimes I ask for book recommendations and I always ask if the books are explicit or not because some books are basically just p0rn0graphy
👍🏼💕💜
Do you have recommendations of TV shows that would be appropriate?
I used to love Meg Ryan movies, especially you’ve got mail all those chick flicks but they’re always sleeping with people they’re not married to
I’d be great if you could post your favorite fiction books appropriate for
Us Catholic women
❤🙏
List ?
I love you so much, and you're also so beautiful ❤️
Inappropriate books and tv
Gossip
Inappropriate clothing
Getting drunk
Inappropriate language
Have you ever been on EWTN /women of Grace?
She's most likely VERY BUSY with this ministry and with her husband and several children!
T.V. and movie dramas these days is almost like watching soft porn.
