Thanks for posting this fantastic blast from my youth! I would watch 8th Man on early Saturday mornings on WGN Chicago in the mid/late 1960s In the 1980s, I bought a vhs copy of several 8th Man episodes. Unfortunately, this episode was not included. Thanks again!
The original story for 8th Man was based on an story written by Japanese science fiction writer ”Kazumasa Hirai”. Kazumasa Hirai was the author of the original manga that was published in a magazine for boys, and the cartoonist was Jiro Kuwata, who drew the manga, which was then adapted into this animated TV version. The original manga was serialized in a children's manga magazine for children in the 1960s in Japan, and the animation was created for children. But the author was a popular science fiction writer, and the original story was based on a hard science fiction content without cutting any corners, which was suitable for adults and could be appreciated by them. This is also the reason why 8thMan was so popular in Japan in the 1960s, transcending generations. This animation was also faithful to Kazumasa Hirai's original story, so it can still be appreciated around the world today. The most famous work of "Kazumasa Hirai's" was his life's work "Shin genma Taisen" (Truth History of The Great War Against the Phantom Devil ) which has a circulation of more than 5 million copies in Japan at that time.
The lost missile with Robert Loggia starring as a military man his frequently reprised roll through his career. It was the first science fiction movie I ever watched at the drive in. Only one hour long but full of action! For a little kid.😱
This Episode was The Matrix of my pre teen years from Popeye and L Tune's This Fascinated my Young Brain can't understand why No Live Reboot on a Grand scale hadn't been made except a straight to DVD 😢

It's reminiscent of the 1958 movie 'The Lost Missile' which possibly influenced this 8 man episode.

14:00 That's the highest 8-Man has ever risen his voice!
They should make a whole new, eighth man. That would be really nice with all the special facts, oh yeah. It could Beat out Batman, flash and Superman.
One of many early Animes shown on American TV. It was called Tobor The Eighth Man in the U.S.
If you look closely, Eight-Man is a very handsome boy, and he resembles the main character of the recent sci-fi movie ``Alita: Battle Angel.''
声優がアメリカコミックみたい。子供向けという感じでない。
This soundtrack is weird they sound like they are in a well.
