Citric acid may make the sugar cool slower but also, without it you would barely be able to taste the flavor no matter how much flavoring you put in. So that bit where they say now it tastes great is a lie, it's just scented sugar.
Well here we have the traditional rock candy, sold often in lots of coastal towns e.g. Brighton and Blackpool hence the name Brighton Rock or Blackpool Rock. Crystallised sounds really cool though!
Does anyone else think that they are kinda biting off monster bug wars with the way they have this guy talking about things? It just gives off that vibe
The professionals at lofty pursuits would definitely have some things to say about this, one-using a white coloring for a candy they are pulling is a waste of time and money, pulling turns the sugar opaque and white anyway, second using citric acid with a marble table is not good, citric acid eats marble and they didn’t cook the water out of the coloring so the candy will end up a bit sticky
Riley Summers as a person from the video (that ugly guy with black hair) who made the entire batch I can ensure it turner out just fine :) And I can partially agree with the white colouring part - the batch was 12kg (+4kg of glucose) and as you can see the whole thing was done only by using hands, no machines included. Adding white colouring helps a lot with such large amounts, but indeed - we could have stretched it without it too :)
Is "Rollie williams" From Kamui brand? I have seen him in "Average Pool Player" and he has the same name, same face, and same voice. Can anyone confirm? Because if he's also a biochemist, he has had quite a bit of changes.
Why the gratuitous bringing up of the USA midway through discussing making a UK candy? Fascinating video, but the dig seems pointless. See the "physicist" at 4:00.
Rock candy or candy glass from my childhood is made by boiling white sugar corn syrup water together until the sugar is dissolved flavorings and food color is added stirred well poured into a lightly oiled rimmed baked sheet and smoothed out into it resembles a pane of colored glass dust lightly with confectioners sugar cool completely and break into bite sized pieces cinnamon peppermint clove and various fruit flavors like cherry apple or grape are popular flavors never tried the kind with crystals on a stick don't know if anyone makes old fashioned rock candy /candy glass anymore
4:08 Yeah.... Us Americans have a problem when it comes to sugar...Especially soda, Example, A small can of root beer contains more that 40 grams of sugar. So yeah, we love to be diabetics.

The implied meaning is “too big to eat at once”, and it’s mostly that it wouldn’t fit in your mouth.

Any seaside town in the UK sells it but it's called candy rock , not rock candy.
“A dash of apple flavoring”
*pours the whole bottle in*
in comparison to how much of the candy is in the pot that flavoring is only a tiny amount
That’s me in an apple shell
@John Tran it was about the same as the bottle
Someone makes a rock candy saying "I quit"
I'm eating it anyway

One of my favorite channels, Stereokroma, does something very similar to this. I love their Akita dog candy-making video especially :]

I’ve started watching these videos and now I can’t stop
OMG! I can’t focus how to make candies because the lady whit white hair is extremely cool 😎😮 I mesmerized 🤗🤗🤗
I was hoping to see lofty pursuits but this guy are amazing too
The only reason some Americans eat alot of sugar is because sugar is in everything sometimes even meat and the there is also natural sugar
Your name says it all. C,:
@yee not necessarily. You could also just shop smartly, but that takes too much effort and Americans are lazy.
hahaha, sure buddy :) and the obesity rate is merely coincidential

that's not the rock candy we have here in the states. the ones we have are on sticks
Victor Greenwood I think he’s talking about the rock candy that looks like crystals, it’s pretty cool.
Rock candy is crystal

I’ve always wondered how they go from a log to a pencil sized candy
Why don't they use a heat table to keep the candy warm? Lots of candy stores do that
