Crafting a Leather Trucker Wallet
We've had this design in the sketchbook for quite some time and finally had the time to try it out. This is a leather trucker / long style wallet with a twist - there is a single card slot sewn over the center seam of the double card slots. To do this, you've got to be very careful about the order of operations in putting the piece together. It's a little tricky!
We went about the construction of this leather wallet by selectively gluing partial seams, sewing, and punching in a way that would let us tuck the center seam into the card slot without having to unglue portions of the seams after to access other seams we needed to sew. Hand stitching really helps with pieces like this as you've got a bit of flexibility in how you maneuver the piece to get at the stitching holes. Overall we're very excited about how this piece turned out, and we'll have a pattern out in our little pattern book coming soon!
Happy Crafting :)
One of the best designs I've ever seen.
I love to watch,OLD craftsmanship has become a lost art🐾♥️🐾♥️🐾♥️☘☘

Great work yall. Really love the way you handled that stitching challenge with the pockets. Clever and resourceful. Those are my favorite parts of this craft and I love seeing how others solve issues. Overall just another fantastic movie- Bravo!

Great design and I know you didn't ask for my design input but you need a chain and piece of leather with a snap to attach to a belt. Keep up the great work
Agreed! You could always add one in the design, this one happens to be for a woman who didn't need one :)

Good work and design! Where and how can I buy a pattern? There is no such model according to the link in the description.
Can you please let me know what kind of leather is that one and where can i buy it? thank you, i really enjoy your videos, keep producing them.
Hi, how thick is the paper used to make the templates? thanks and great job
Interesting take on the truckers wallet. Thank you "E".
Q: what size grommet or eyelet should i use to add a chain?
thanks! You'd want to size the grommet to whatever piece of hardware you want to attack to it :)
Hello, iam new at crafting with leather - could you say me which leather is the best for crafting purses? How thick and how are they called? ty!
хорошо!
Nota 10. Libera o molde pra gente.

Went directly to site and poked out bottom lip when there was no pattern. Is one forthcoming?

I am interested in making a leather sleeping roll mat. The dimensions are 22 x 72 inches. I would like a two layer full grain cow hide sewn back to back with a full grain pig leather sewn between the two layers to act as installation, dyed tobacco brown and a wax waterproof treatment. I will roll the mat up and would like to have two detachable full grain belts that will keep the mat rolled up. Can you please tell me an estimate cost of this sleeping roll.
What kind of tape was that for the zipper
Why don't you sell this one on your website?
Do you sell your wallets? Not just the designs?
Does anyone happen to know the size of that hole punch? Size 4?
Another beautiful video. My only critique would be in the materials list. It looks like you’re using about 2oz leather and on the list at weaver the referenced leather sells in the 10-12+ oz weight. If people order based on the list they are going to be amazed when they get leather that’s nearly a centimeter thick and impossible to bend the way it’s shown in the video not to mention it would be impossible to use in this pattern as delivered so, if they don’t have a $5K+ splitter they’re screwed...
Weaver splits hides for you - just order the hide you want and ask them to split it when you order :) that's what we always do, they'll also split a single hide to multiple weights in strips and you don't have to order multiple hides
@@Corter good to know since they don’t mention that on their website. I order from them fairly often so I will inquire.
@@Corter did not know this. Thanks fpr the info.
Some of the larger leather suppliers will split certain of their leathers at no xtra charge
@@grimtt I’ve found that there are some who will but, certainly not all or even most. I have a love/hate relationship with Weaver. I HATE their website; no consistency of descriptions of the various leathers, the site loads very slowly and is wonky if you hit the back button And they are very tardy about updating it. I got a notice from them that a particular leather I had been waitlisted for was available a week ago but, their website still shows out of stock. I guess I can fall back on 19th century technology and call them. I suppose that will be one of my Monday morning to do projects.
What is the name of the stitch you always use? And have you made a video on it?
Just a saddle stitch without a stitching pony :)
The blockbuster card sold it
Is there a reason you use the two-sided tape rather than the cement? Does it hold as well?
you can use either! basting tape is way less messy so we use it often for zippers
@@Corter Thanks for the quick response! I love the videos you guys put out. The recent ones with narration are extremely helpful. Much appreciated!
One of YT videos I'm not forwarding.
а шорного пони у вас нет?
освободилась бы рука , шить станет гораздо удобнее и быстрее .кошелек хорош.
