- I got really hyped when the Lisa the Definitive Edition news came out. But I didn't want to play the old game since I'll play it again on the 18th. So to quench my Lisa thirst, I picked up one of the fan games.
Let me just say. Hopeful was not very hopeful at all...

Now all we need is an animatic of Lisa the Pointless set to “I Can’t Remember the Dream” to complete the quadrilogy
The poses are so dynamic, especially 0:20 where Dixon is winding up and about to slam them all horizonally across the face in one swing, haha.
I love these 3 idiots. First playing it after my first fangame, pointless, it was a hit in the face of what lisa was all about.
This is by far my favorite Lisa fangame. The fact its free is boardline a crime. The passion and the writing is fantastic.

Funnily enough, seeing how Benny’s crush was depicted in this helped me realize that I was in a toxic relationship with my significant other myself. So thanks for the coincidental help!

@@ineedzemedic5810 tbh. Route wise, beltboy and the glasses guy (can’t remember his name LOL) where the least interested in the girl, they kinda just got pressured by Cyclopes to go along with it
Spoilers
- in the glasses guy route he’s almost manipulated to want the girl because that’s what the team wanted before they died
- beltboy in the painful route is kinda just following the flow/vibe of the team and what they want really, he hasn’t really thought about what he wants to do with the girl
- in the beltboy route he kinda comes to an understanding he just doesn’t want the lovely’s to have her, and he purely wants revenge for his friends
- Cyclops is the only member who makes it very clear what he wants to do With the girl and that’s even apparent in his route as he doesn’t change his mind on why he wants the girl but also slaps on “this is revenge for my boys”

I think it was either belt or someone else who even brought up the girls apperance to looking too young.

That’s when the crew walks by a poster of buddy who’s wanted (Lisa the hopeful takes place just around the end of painful) and beltboy pauses and states how young buddy looks

I’m seriously blown away at time by the expressiveness of many of these scenes. They add a lot more depth to the trio of troublemakers and the perverts they come across.

It's so sad. This ending is the best morally and from a storytelling standpoint but it took the most amount of pain to get there.

Well, the characters suffer in their own routes too.
I honestly feel like that's the point. In pretty much every other route Benny just goes with the flow and never actually asks what he wants. It's only when he has lost everyone else, and listens to what he really wants, that he tries to reach out to 5. Not as an object, but as a person, a friend
@@phantomdragon4518 leading to the title, in choosing to give up acts and choose to be vulriable, to be kind does give way to some hope.
And the Hopeless would most likely be about how Benny though getting of while in the grand scheme small bit of hope, from whats known thats a huge deal not only for him but 5 who's never met another Man who's sane, who's well Kind.
so now Benny has to deal with his Pain and 5 has to save her other allies, other women who to are being most likely searched or hiding.
Both have to overcome the Mentally destyroyed men of these lands.
Also I love the recurring theme of your LISA animatics having a They Might Be Giants song.
Every single detail just gives me so much joy, Also seeing the dumbass smasher visualised is pretty awesome
Say what you will about the Engine Enthusiasts, but Dixon Bismuth was a true prodigy of the ambushing arts. Too many people think that the Dumbass Smasher and its ilk happen overnight, but managing a reliable blow to ONE man's frontal lobe - let alone three - hard enough to incapacitate without killing or causing permanent brain damage takes real craftsmanship.
Yeah when it's drawn like that it makes a lot more sense
I've played through this game twice, but always stopped at the very end because I couldn't beat the last few fights. It's incredible to see this animation and learn the end of the story this way. I'm gonna cry now

I’ve only ever seen Nitro Rad’s review of this game, so I didn’t realize how tragic it actually was. God I barely even know these guys but my heart is still aching for them!
I’m excited for the influx of new people the Lisa remastered will bring in.

of ALL the things to get after your amazing disco elysium animatic its an animatic for my favourite LISA fangame with my favourite tmbg song?? i love just how well this shows the roadtrip style one thing after another nature of the story, and GOD the impact of the heart's invasion of the sports stadium, lank's death, its all so perfect, even the way the girl from beltboy's past is always looking directly in the camera is so offputting... thank you for this!!!

Oddly enough when you published this I was right in the middle of playing lisa for the first time and saved this to watch until I played the main games and hopeful lol. Took longer than intended because I played painful and joyful like 3 times each w that new definitive content too lol. But so happy I could watch this after finishing hopeful last night... didn't expect to get so many feelings about it

Yep, Hopeful I think is one of the most faithful Lisa fangames, just in tone and mechanics. Plus its a good, if heartwrenching, time.

Man this was amazing, I mean it still hurt watching it but damn. So this does mean we're gonna see a lanks, cyclops and Rodriguez route animatic? Of course if you can and have the time I mean. You don't see much Lisa the hopefull animatic or animation but this one amazing.
Lanks and Cyclops routes are mostly the same and have complete downer endings. Not a ton of point in making an animatic for those.
Rodriguez route could be cool.
I imagine this is it, though, considering this video covers the canon route the Hopeless will follow.

This is insane to finally see come out, I remember watching the Don't let's start animatic years ago and this is just insane to see how far you've come.
The trio looks phenominal and they are super expressive, You managed to capture the story and just vibe of hopeful very well.
