She has an angelic voice so unique , so mystical , so magical, so entrancing so hauntingly beautiful that if you ( or your subscribers) react ( no one will recommend her so I hope you will react privately ) to the following 6 performances after which you will become an avid fan and utter to yourself “ why on God’s earth is she not famous??). You’ll want to subscribe to her website where she will enthrall and mesmerize and entrance you with about 40 more songs ( a mixture of live and MV’s and she is one of the few world class vocalists who is as good or better performing live. Every one of her live performances will silence your mind and open the floodgates of your heart and soul. ). Yep, tone and stylistic choice are subjective for sure. Since you asked, I appreciate both ladies' tone, with a slight edge given to Sohyang. I do subjectively enjoy both singers. Objectively, Sohyang is further developed, while Ariana can always improve and I'm confident given time she will.

I personally prefer Sohyang’s tone. Ariana is great too, but Sohyang has a more open, richer, more powerful sound. Ariana tends to get a bit nasal and thin the higher she gets while Sohyang maintains her openness, power, and technical prowess all the way up.
JasminGardenia I guess, but Sohyang can’t really be classified as strictly gospel. Sure, that’s where she started and there’s gospel influence in many of her songs, but definitely not all yet she’s always open and full, using the same technique. Ariana doesn’t HAVE to be more open, but it might be healthier for her if she were and there’s tons of pop singers who have a more open, relaxed, full approach. Regardless, I prefer what Sohyang’s doing. Sounds way better to me. Ariana has a lovely tone and lots of talent but she can get pretty whiny and thin due to tension and nasality.

(Unless you want to sing without a mic on stage and need to be louder😄 but that's not a thing in contemporary music anyway) Also Ariana doesn't have too much tension. You're just mixing up different genre-related coordinations. Sohyang uses her gospel technique all the time (except for her high belts in which she mixes it with twang). Btw speaking of tension (Sohyang always has a little too much jaw tension in her belts, but that's not unhealthy for her vocsl folds either) I personally also prefer the tone of Sohyang (who is btw also nasal in her upper belts because of the twang she adds to it), but that's just a question of tone and personal preference, just like Justin says. It's a genre-based tone difference, not bc of a better or worse technique. Overall I'd say though that Sohyang is a little more technically precise (but Ariana has a wider skill set). Ariana also has more agility, but I think it's probably not the case that Ariana has more natural agility in her voice, it's probably also more a genre-based thing. Gospel singing uses a more open throat (not real open throat singing though, you only have that in classical music) which gives it a specific more "open" tone (and it also has a rounder tone due to different genre-based vowel choices), but it makes the voice less agile
@@JasminGardenia Absolutely. A more open throat means a different tone, but not that it is more healthy, it's just a tone difference. It does make a difference in terms of volume, if you sing for exampel in church without a mic. That wouldn't work well in a big cathedral with pop singing. But when you use a mic, there's no difference, ad there's generally no difference with respect to vocal hygiene. That doesn't take away anything from Sohyang's talent, but it's not healthier or even "better", it's just different. People who prefer the sound of gospel and musical theater will prefer Sohyang's tone and those who prefer the sound of pop music will prefer Ariana's tone. Non open throat technqiue: the sound of pop, blues, jazz, rock, metal and the like --> Ariana Half open throat technique: the sound of musical theater and gospel --> Sohyang Full open throat technique: the sound of classical music --> an "operatic" tone
@@JasminGardenia And yes, musical theater and the like have a different tone, one that I also prefer (at least over pop, but I prefer the tone of rock and metal over musical theater), but it leaves you less creative room. Many tonal changes, many styles and many melismas are not possible with a musical theater technique. You'd need to switch to a typical contemporary technique to do that. That also doesn't mean that musical theater is "worse", absolutely not. And it doesn't mean that musical theater singer couldn't do it themselves when using a typical contemporary technique. It's just different. Every genre has its own style, technique and tone... and advantages and disadvantages.
i go with sohyang on this one, ariana is a really good singer too and i find myself listening to both a lot. sometimes with fans a lot of people go with the desicion that people with better range or are able to do higher pithced high notes are the best singers. thats a subjective opinion and i do love a good high note, but i do prefer sohyang because of her tone and breath control. ariana has a really unique tone and one of the best ranges ive heard, but i feel like sohyang is the winner in other categories. like justin said, they both are really good with pitch. not hating on any of them as they both sing better than i ever will :)

ariana is an excellent singer, & has been for years, although she is still incredibly young. i think she is outstanding in light of her limitation (not of her own fault whatsoever obviously) in regards to time spent practicing & performing. sohyang has simply been doing her thing for many more years than ariana, & holds a college degree relating to music/teaches singer at a collegiate level, if i'm not mistaken, so her experience far outweighs ariana's. so for me, sohyang sounds much better, but take that with what i wrote above. i prefer sohyang's tone (no one on earth can hold a more crystal clear straight note than sohyang--that last word "down" in her bridge over troubled water cover intro... easily the prettiest thing i've ever heard). also: the sound cut out (!?), but based off the limited amount of what i got to hear of yr thoughts of sohyang's cover of i have nothing, you absolutely MUST find a way to react to this one... it gets flagged/CW striked a good bit, but i know there are ways around this. EDIT: please consider reacting to shoshana bean's cover of make it rain... it's technically epic singing combined with someone unabashedly fearless in performing with every ounce of their body & soul.

Yep, tone and stylistic choice are subjective for sure. Since you asked, I appreciate both ladies' tone, with a slight edge given to Sohyang. I do subjectively enjoy both singers. Objectively, Sohyang is further developed, while Ariana can always improve and I'm confident given time she will.

I personally prefer Sohyang’s tone. Ariana is great too, but Sohyang has a more open, richer, more powerful sound. Ariana tends to get a bit nasal and thin the higher she gets while Sohyang maintains her openness, power, and technical prowess all the way up.
just different styles though (btw Sohyang is a gospel singer and Ariana is a pop singer. Pop singing does generally not have an open tone)
JasminGardenia I guess, but Sohyang can’t really be classified as strictly gospel. Sure, that’s where she started and there’s gospel influence in many of her songs, but definitely not all yet she’s always open and full, using the same technique. Ariana doesn’t HAVE to be more open, but it might be healthier for her if she were and there’s tons of pop singers who have a more open, relaxed, full approach. Regardless, I prefer what Sohyang’s doing. Sounds way better to me. Ariana has a lovely tone and lots of talent but she can get pretty whiny and thin due to tension and nasality.

(Unless you want to sing without a mic on stage and need to be louder😄 but that's not a thing in contemporary music anyway) Also Ariana doesn't have too much tension. You're just mixing up different genre-related coordinations. Sohyang uses her gospel technique all the time (except for her high belts in which she mixes it with twang). Btw speaking of tension (Sohyang always has a little too much jaw tension in her belts, but that's not unhealthy for her vocsl folds either) I personally also prefer the tone of Sohyang (who is btw also nasal in her upper belts because of the twang she adds to it), but that's just a question of tone and personal preference, just like Justin says. It's a genre-based tone difference, not bc of a better or worse technique.
Overall I'd say though that Sohyang is a little more technically precise (but Ariana has a wider skill set). Ariana also has more agility, but I think it's probably not the case that Ariana has more natural agility in her voice, it's probably also more a genre-based thing. Gospel singing uses a more open throat (not real open throat singing though, you only have that in classical music) which gives it a specific more "open" tone (and it also has a rounder tone due to different genre-based vowel choices), but it makes the voice less agile
@@JasminGardenia Absolutely. A more open throat means a different tone, but not that it is more healthy, it's just a tone difference. It does make a difference in terms of volume, if you sing for exampel in church without a mic. That wouldn't work well in a big cathedral with pop singing. But when you use a mic, there's no difference, ad there's generally no difference with respect to vocal hygiene.
That doesn't take away anything from Sohyang's talent, but it's not healthier or even "better", it's just different.
People who prefer the sound of gospel and musical theater will prefer Sohyang's tone and those who prefer the sound of pop music will prefer Ariana's tone.
Non open throat technqiue: the sound of pop, blues, jazz, rock, metal and the like --> Ariana
Half open throat technique: the sound of musical theater and gospel --> Sohyang
Full open throat technique: the sound of classical music --> an "operatic" tone
@@JasminGardenia And yes, musical theater and the like have a different tone, one that I also prefer (at least over pop, but I prefer the tone of rock and metal over musical theater), but it leaves you less creative room. Many tonal changes, many styles and many melismas are not possible with a musical theater technique. You'd need to switch to a typical contemporary technique to do that. That also doesn't mean that musical theater is "worse", absolutely not. And it doesn't mean that musical theater singer couldn't do it themselves when using a typical contemporary technique. It's just different. Every genre has its own style, technique and tone... and advantages and disadvantages.

i go with sohyang on this one, ariana is a really good singer too and i find myself listening to both a lot. sometimes with fans a lot of people go with the desicion that people with better range or are able to do higher pithced high notes are the best singers. thats a subjective opinion and i do love a good high note, but i do prefer sohyang because of her tone and breath control. ariana has a really unique tone and one of the best ranges ive heard, but i feel like sohyang is the winner in other categories. like justin said, they both are really good with pitch. not hating on any of them as they both sing better than i ever will :)

ariana is an excellent singer, & has been for years, although she is still incredibly young.
i think she is outstanding in light of her limitation (not of her own fault whatsoever obviously) in regards to time spent practicing & performing.
sohyang has simply been doing her thing for many more years than ariana, & holds a college degree relating to music/teaches singer at a collegiate level, if i'm not mistaken, so her experience far outweighs ariana's.
so for me, sohyang sounds much better, but take that with what i wrote above. i prefer sohyang's tone (no one on earth can hold a more crystal clear straight note than sohyang--that last word "down" in her bridge over troubled water cover intro... easily the prettiest thing i've ever heard).
also: the sound cut out (!?), but based off the limited amount of what i got to hear of yr thoughts of sohyang's cover of i have nothing, you absolutely MUST find a way to react to this one... it gets flagged/CW striked a good bit, but i know there are ways around this.
EDIT: please consider reacting to shoshana bean's cover of make it rain... it's technically epic singing combined with someone unabashedly fearless in performing with every ounce of their body & soul.
