  • www.getBJJsponsorship.com - Upgrade your passion from a pastime to a profession. || Where does your style of jiu-jitsu come from? In this video Eduardo 'Teta' Rios gives his perspective on how and why people become the grapplers they do.
    If anyone would know, it's this 3rd degree black belt. The Rio-native, who now lives and teaches the arte suave in Norway, is a direct student of the legendary Ricardo Liborio. Rios was formerly the head jiu-jitsu (gi) coach at the world-famous Brazilian Top Team, and is a competitor from the same generation as such greats like Terere.
    Rios tells a little about how watching the training at the Carlson Gracie academy as a youngster helped shape his jiu-jitsu, and stops rolling to give us a nice lesson in controlling an opponent from the increasingly common "guard vs guard" position that is brought about by fighting with styles such as the 50-50 guard and berimbolo technique.
    Filmed entirely at Gordo Jiu-Jitsu / Evolve MMA in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.

    Everybody tell me I use too much strenght and power, but I dont understand why that is a problem, in a street fight you would use your strenght and power too, wouldnt you??

      But what happens when you fight someone bigger and stronger than you? That is when you need technique not strength. Of course, once you understand the technique you can add strength

    • @lchace5306
      @lchace5306 7 лет назад +3

      you wouldnt need strength, if your technique would be good enough.

      I think that means that you rely too much on your strength. A skilled technician may beat you very fast. These people probably just try to warn you.

      The main thing is that you aren't learning. Eventually you'll run into someone who is quicker than you, or stronger than you, or more skilled than you. That's when you need technique.

      Can I Have A Soda And A McChicken? if you're rolling someone of equal or greater skill go ham. if they are less skilled or weaker work on moves you suck at. if you break all your toys you'll have nothing to play with. I'm a big guy and I always pull guard on smaller dudes than me and I'm happy I did because I have a decent guard now.
