Thank you for this fantastic virtual walking tour of Downtown Houston, Texas! As someone who has never been there, your video allowed me to experience the vibrant atmosphere and architectural beauty of the city from the comfort of my home. The skyline is absolutely stunning, and it's fascinating to see the mix of modern skyscrapers and historical landmarks. Your attention to detail and smooth camera work made me feel like I was strolling through the streets myself. I appreciate the informative commentary and interesting facts about the different locations. Truly a captivating tour that has sparked my interest in visiting Houston one day. Keep up the great work!
being from europe, it's really weird to me how it's broad daylight and there are so little people walking about the city center. But I really like the vibe!
There was a city tunnel underneath it where people walk, it is aircorditioned that is why most people choose to walk in there than walking on the street during summer.
I wasn,t able to follow the chat today. Had my family over for dinner ♥ But I saw some of it now. Looks hot and clean, but no people. I heard you said that in your live walk the other night, that it was to hot for people to be outside!!?? Thank you for the video, until next time ☺☺ Stay safe ☺
Great job finding the McKinney Place tunnel and It's not that southern down here a quick hi will do thanks for making me lol with the hello. I used to say good morning but it was too northern here. Check out the aquarium restaurant I hope it's still nice
@@TheNYCWalkingShow late morning early afternoon you won't find a huge crowd of people sometimes you can find a big crowd of people in that area on home game days
Where I live it gets that hot but there are still lots of pedestrians on the sideways. This seems like something from a science fiction movie where all the people have died but the buildings are still intact. It's kind of eerie.
I've never been to Houston,, I was thinking Main Street was like Chicago's Michigan Avenue or New York's Fifth Avenue... Not even close or similar... Maybe, on some levels comparable to Chicago State Street which is crazy busy... Good job 👍
I'm curious what brought you to Houston because I live here and I do not recommend downtown to anyone. it is boring as you can see there is barely anything going on. I think uptown is more fun have you been to the galleria? It is an amazing experience it is a huge mall. As always, I love your videos and welcome to Texas.
I went to Katy for some work and then I thought to check out downtown Houston. Yeah I was in galleria. It was so nice and huge. Also it was super crowded but I was told not to film inside 😞
Yeah I also noticed there is no street life. Where is everybody? I live in Pittsburgh and our downtown, though more dead than it used to be thanks to COVID, still has more street life than this, and Houston is many times larger! Was this shot on a weekend or something? This is what happens in cities that just have tons of suburban sprawl and massive interstate highways. It kills downtowns. Like seriously, the more I'm watching this, the less people I see.
@@bradleyschmidt7190 Very Low density + American urbanism. Most American cities are going to resemble Houston more than NYC Boston, Philly, or Baltimore and a handful of others.
It's so empty... That's a bit of a shame because I like it if there's a lot of life in the streets. I'm thinking about visiting and even trying to move there, but maybe it's not the right place for me after all.
In the meantime, I've been there and it really was quite empty in the city center, especially on the weekends, when people are not working in the office buildings. There's things about it that I liked, but it is lacking this feeling of being in a big city a bit, because in most neighborhoods, you just have single family homes and the city center is not very lively. On my way back, I came through Chicago, and that is very different in this regard. As always, it depends on your preferences and what you're looking for. Some of the people I met were great, though, so I think I like the mentality and the culture.
Houston and Los Angeles just don’t compare to Beautiful downtown Chicago or NYC. Approaching Chicago and all the beautiful Skyscrapers and that Skyline, makes it appear twice as large as Los Angeles even though LA has more people.
I have a question, please help me to answer it, anyone. I will so appreciate it. Well, I see from the video, the street is empty enough. Is it usually like that everyday?
Yes it is usually empty. It is very hot/humid outside the distance and variety of buildings don’t make it as walkable as you would find in other cities.
@@alexpavarotti5052 Some people from Houston, who actually know Houston is better, will tell you Dallas just because you asked and you don’t know better. lol

2.3 million people spread out over 665 sq miles giving it an effective density of 3459 people per sq mile which is VERY LOW. most american cities are not highly dense and urbanized like NYC in fact they will resemble Houston more as giant suburbias.
Lack of density and is WAY more spread out + the actual population of downtown Houston is 10-11 thousand people + like most American cities Houston is a giant suburb with a small central business district as its core with not much to actually do there. actual excursions and attractions are going to be located in specific neighborhoods/ districts/ or around the Great Houston area which is well over 10 thousand square miles of sprawl. Houston is also not a "touristy"city in the same way NYC or SF is. Most tourism is probably going to Galveston which is an hour away from Houston.

Haven't been to downtown Houston in a long time. Too much disjointed artsy carp. No theme to it, just strewn about like someone had a field day at a Saturday morning garage sale. Not enough form and function, lacking conceptual tie-ins. Those overhead cables for the rail system are a distraction to a clean appearance. Bubble-gum spotted sidewalks give away lack of attention to detail and maintenance. Mismatched brick styles laid in the roads, dirty bricks.
I hope that you enjoyed your time here and that everything with your business meeting was successful. Sending positive vibes your way...always
I had a great time and I want to go back for more exploration. I was there for short time and couldn’t experience it fully.
