this is awesome!!! i am never sure if i should bend with my pinky (its weak) or stretch my 3rd finger if the bend is more than 2 frets than the 'anchor position'
Webster's Dictionary: growl ( a verb) to make a rumbling, menacing sound such as a dog makes, to utter in an angry or surely way. Schwartz's Dictionary: ( a raaaawk technique) to add a gutsy, raunchy, rockin' sound to your guitar playing, to create cool awesome sounds on your axe. Great Marty, you have added some "hot sauce" to spice things up, man, you make us have as much fun learning as you demonstrate while teaching.
As a struggling new guitar player, 56 years old and drummer from age 8, you are helping me. Now, if I could just get you talked into moving to the small town I live in would be awesome. I need daily inspiration and one on one lessons. Thanks again Marty.
Thanks Marty. You taught me how to play the guitar some years ago. I'm gonna definitely include this technique in my playing. I love this new channel you have. It's extremely fresh.
A unison bend just makes it sound bigger and fuller (It might even make you snap a string because your pulling the one string higher) Blues, Country, Rock and Metal styles use this way of playing!
Another great demonstration Marty, thank you! I would only add: "And if you're using a Les Paul of any variety, be prepared to furiously yank your G string away from the fingerboard in order to get it somewhat back in tune after doing unison bends, unless of course you're right at the end of your song." All I ask is that you give me credit should you choose to re-edit the video to include this information. L M A O !!!
This is a great video! I have been working on my blues lead lately and lessons like this are definitely helping me to improve. Thanks for the lesson Marty!
Awesome lesson. There are a lot of techniques like this that you hear all the time but its not obvious how they're done (at least to me). I'm glad we have you to enlighten us!
Hey Marty, Jaron here! I watch perhaps about 90% of your videos. I would greatly appreciate your help learning these songs. I’ll repost this same list every time I watch one of your videos. 1. America - Three Roses (Please include outro-solo) 2. Bob Dylan - House Carpenter 3. The Cars - You Might Think 4. Clutch (Anything!) 5. Crash Test Dummies - Afternoons and Coffeespoons 6. The Donnas - Who Invited You 7. Franz Ferdinand - Katherine Kiss Me 8. Jethro Tull - Mother Goose (How can you not love this song?) 9. Jim Croce - I got a name 10. Lou Reed - This Magic Moment 11. NOFX - Linoleum 12. Paul Simon - Gumboots / Paranoia Blues 13. Rev Horton Heat - Baby, I’m Drunk 14. Sublime - What happened? Looking forward to seeing you teach a few of these songs. Much Appreciated!
Funny thing seeing this lesson I was not looking for. I've been trying to nail these unions for awhile. My issue is with finger muting the b string. I believe the quicker I go through with the bend the less likely I am to mute that b string. Subbed!
Wow! This is great stuff this week. It's true, Marty is the best on utube. I go to another level because of lessons on his channel. Marty, thanks for this. Instead of just working my way up the neck with pentatonic extensions you always teach new ideas how to get there. Love you man!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who prefusouly shakes their leg when playing. My favorite are the people who think I'm saying the notes when my mouth constantly moves too. Haha
Great lesson mr Schwartz! I was wondering if you could do a few intermediate blues lessons to follow up the beginner series. I've come a long way but I've found myself in a little rut. Thanks and have a nice day!
Dude, i appreciate all you do for all us musicians bringing us awesome stuff like this and all the rest of your videos love learning and watching your videos. Much Love Man!

Great lesson Marty, thanks! An indispensable technique, recognizable at the very end of Stairway to Heaven . . . and the very beginning of Green Eyed Lady :-).
Marty...as usual, great lesson! One request....any chance you could do a lesson on Key to the Highway by Clapton, acoustic version...?? Much appreciated and keep rockin!
Hey Marty, I don't know if you still take requests, but I think it'd be really amazing of you if you could do a tutorial of Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pts. I-V" I get it if its too long a song. Anyways, have a great day. Keep teaching, and keep on keeping on! See you! Gage
Marty please listen to stars and shards by loyle carner. It's a rap song but it has a great riff. If you like the song please consider doing a tutorial.
Hey Marty how you doing? I've been trying to figure out the higher harmony part at the end of Roundabout by Yes. Any chance you can make a video? It would very appreciated. Thanks

Marty Music you're the perfect guitar teacher for kids with a taste for blues and rock. I appreciate all the effort you put in to making your videos

Marty, could you touch on the pentatonic scale on one string perhaps sometime on your livestream? Thank you.

Should I not try this on Acoustic guitar. Because I’m having a really hard time
Probably pretty hard considering the strings aren't as easy to bend as an electric
What's your advice if you keep muting the B string when you're trying to bend
use the very tip of your finger and arch them.
