But shouldn’t we also try and not put too much pressure on ourselves as parents to have our kids entire lives figured out and on top of that our kids kids etc etc? This is what we do then end up feeling like we’re underachieving and fall back in a rut of beating ourselves up for things we might not really have control over. Ofcourse I don’t mean deprive them of that if we’re in a position to but shouldn’t it be enough to make sure that our children are secure financially and have the best life they possibly can and that in turn enables them to make good financial decisions and think of wealth generation for themselves and their kids if they do have kids? I don’t know.Your thoughts?

@@anitacheptoo7989 I believe inheritance is not limited to money/physical assets. It is broad, it could be teaching them work ethic, raising spiritually grounded children, raising self-reliant hardworking loving reliable dependable honest people etc

@@anitacheptoo7989 to give them that "goodblife" one needs to create it for them. For many a job is not guaranteed. I would love it if I had the capital to help my kids succeed in life. I wouldn't advice to be to draconian about it but at the same time it's important to leave your kids sorted. If you see communities around us. It's the black communities that are the poorest because we do not have that mind set.

Growing up in a family where all we heard about Money was how little we had, my siblings & I somehow unconsciously decided to put in the work to be able to be financially stable. Am not yet there at the point of even thinking about creating 'generational wealth' for my kids, am much more concerned with providing for myself in such a way that when am older & I call my Kids, they will take my calls because I will be calling to find out how they are & not to ask them for money. Ultimately, my goal is to end the cycle of 'Black Tax'.

As a personal finance coach I loved this ☺️.
As a believer I definitely subscribe to the idea of leaving an inheritance for the next generation. Everyday I work with clients on identifying personal values and how money can give them that (money values). Financial History and relationship with money are the things that would influence one's stand on generational wealth and identifying money values helps to bring a balance between today and the future. Based on how I'm getting clients, I'm glad that more and more people are working on their finances and getting the help they need.

I believe in generational wealth but I also know if we don't educate our children about it, it's a mute point.. We need our kids to see the value of working hard, budgeting and saving and investing. Involve them in these things at an early age little by little.
wealth is also not just money.
Education, exposure, travel are all forms of wealth.
    My 2 cents.

I'm a bit older than you and I remember going through the same process in my 30s, it is almost like I had outgrown myself and was asking myself much deeper questions. Spoiler alert, the other side of this process is more balanced and worth every minute spent preparing for it.

I have chills listening to you and Marion speak. I am 24 but I have never thought about getting a life insurance policy (I think about money pretty often so this is surprising). One of my biggest anxieties is getting sick, dying and leaving my loved ones with a huge medical bill. I didn’t know that critical life insurance was a thing so this is such a relief! Next time can you please talk about retirement saving schemes? I want to take full advantage of compound interest!

I wish that (or maybe that is already the case) the insurance companies would calculate the life insurance pay out based on a currency appreciation basis. Because 10 million sounds great now (and it is)- but may not be the case in 40 to 50 years time. So I hope there is a system in which the payee is protected from that. Also regarding savings - I have been thinking that, where possible, one should save their money in a US dollar account or British Pound account - because the money appreciates in value. If one had 1,000 USD (100K equivalent) a year ago, now it would be approx 122K. No bank would give you that kind of savings interest rate.

Hi, again Sharon! 😅 I got LASIK done too. My eyesight was -6.25. Couldn't see anything from a few inches away. I can see almost perfectly now even without glasses. I'm saying almost cause my eyes I think never healed completely cause I have dry eye syndrome. My current prescription is -0.75 which is ok!
My partner got his done as well and his eyesight is completely fine, so don't let my situation deter you! 😊
You might need a bit of help, especially in the first two weeks but it gets better.
Best of luck if you go through with it!

@@violetatero5145 Hey, I got mine done at Laser eye center ABC Place at around 200k. My partner went to Eagle eye Lavington he paid 150k. NHIF covered 100k. Idk what magic happened there. 😂 His procedure was PRK though not LASIK.
If I had to go back a second time I'd go to Eagle Eye just cause they take their time with you during the healing process. (I hope I don't get in trouble for this☻)
You'll have to go in for a "review" first so they can make sure you are a good candidate for it. Then schedule the date.
      Goodluck! 🤗

Your vlogs always have great topics. My mum use to buy gold and diamond jewellery because, to her that was a saving (they came in handy, being a landlord and her business)...advice she'd give back then, young me use to think "just spend you have the money now..." but older me is thinking a LOT of the future. This was great, as usual 😊👌🏽

A topic that has been weighing heavy on me lately, generational wealth/delayed gratification vs instant gratification, especially as a new mom!! Its been a huge battle with my myself! 😫
I've definitely been putting a lot of pressure on myself to set my son up for life, maybe not all the way down to my future grandkids but At least enough to get him to a point where he can set his own kids up for life and so forth and hopefully it gets to a point down the line where it can be seen and experienced as generational wealth. 🥺🙏🏽

100% on generational wealth, though lately I have also been thinking on how to create that wealth without being an “exploitative capitalist”. Its easier for kids to succeed after uni they don’t have to start hustling for rent and all. After a crude analysis of most American households, its clear that being marginalized and also being able to build wealth starts or is boosted by what parents had.
Finishing the video: 100% agree with what your friend is saying

Generational wealth is so important especially in the whole black community. Because we don't have alot of this hence the higher % of poverty. I would advise generational wealth combined with very good education.... The right education

Its actually not a bad idea at all to be Generation Cautious/intentionally so.. this could be financially, spiritually, and in many other aspects of our lives..what kind of Great GrandMother would you like to be remembered as! Sowing kindness, praying for your Generations to come...the list is endless..

I wouldn't say I've ever leaned towards any side but as I grow, I feel the difference between a life chosen in awareness and one lived in the fear of lack. So my thoughts are always - arrange yourself financially in a way that gives you and those to come the chance to live, you know, without thinking kama kutakuwa na pesa if they do this or that.

3rd comment - money excites me! COVID scared me and as a single mom I got a lawyer and drafted a will to protect my assets. I live in canada and I learnt that if I die (without a will) EVERYTHING I OWN will go under a trust which is managed by government. The government will also make decisions for my daughter etc. crazy but that is the system. I am glad I have a will now and my trusted friends are my trustees to my estate.
