I own a Super Champ X2 and think it's great! I got a limited edition blonde tolex one like yours last year before Fender discontinued the amp. The only difference between the one you have and mine is the Eminence Ragin Cajun speaker that came fitted in the 2020 limited edition blonde tolex version.
You mention 10 voices. The Super Champ X2 has always had 16 voices, as did its predecessor the Super Champ XD. One other thing to note with this amp is that the 12AX7 is a phase inverter and not a preamp tube as you'd find in an all-tube amp. The amp sounds great though doesn't it?!
I only play at home for fun and used to have a Hot Rod Deluxe (what was I thinking?!!!). The Super Champ X2 is a massively under-rated amp IMHO. It's like a best-kept secret for those of us that own one. It's perfect for home/practice use as you say in the video.
The tube purists I'm sure turn their noses up at the fact that this is a hybrid amp but, as I understand it, this amp is 99% the same circuit as a Princeton beyond the digital front-end. The clean channel (Channel 1) is superb and, as you mention, takes pedals extremely well. I use my X2 with my pedalboard and it's great.
I live mostly on Channel 1 but some of the voices on (the low-gain ones) on Channel 2 work well with pedals too. This amp punches way above its weight, in my view.
It's a real shame Fender has stopped making these although I read on one of the gear forums a rumour that a new version is coming with a 12" speaker.
I had been looking to get a Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb, and in fact went to bed last night thinking I will get one ordered today. Having slept on it, I decided I don't really want to part with my Super Champ X2 (not yet anyway!) and I can't really justify the extra cost. The Super Champ X2 is a fantastic little amp and let's hope Fender does bring out a newer version of it at some point. IMHO Fender scored a home run with this amp!

  • @FireMrshlBill

Very nice, like the tolex and grill cloth combo there. I've had the Super Champ XD as my only amp for nearly a decade now (recent got a cheap low wattage practice amp for noodling quietly but doesn't really count). Originally had one that someone built a custom cab for to turn it into a head, then sold that and purchased a standard combo when I wanted to downsize (wish I kept that head version too, it was pretty). Had a Ragin Cajun in it for a bit, but was louder than I wanted for just playing at home and lost a bit of the "sparkle", so I switched back to the stock speaker. Great little amp, handles everything I throw at it. As much as I am eyeing getting another Mesa (like the Mark Five 25), hard to justify when this little amp serves my needs with the right pedal in front of it. These digital voiced Super Champs and Vibro Champs were hard to beat for the price

I own a couple of these (to play in stereo) and they are fantastic amps. So versatile, with the tube channel and the 16 presets on the digital channel. Sounds really good at low volumes, but can create a ruckus if that's your want.
Derek Paul mentioned preset #10 (British dirty), that is one of my favorites too. I also favor the Tweed Bassman and the '65 Twin Amp settings.
It does take pedals very well and when used on the tube channel it takes on a Fender Princeton quality, which is great for the classic rock and even Jazz that I play.
You can still find the X2 and the XD for sale on used gear sites at some very nice prices. Who knows, I may get a 3rd one.

It's a very popular mod to change out the Fender speaker for a higher spec one.
The last batch of X2's shipped were loaded with an Eminence Ragin' Cajun which seems to be the most popular choice.
I'm pondering whether to do something similar (I like the idea of the Eminence Cannabis rex to go with my surf green version).
Is this something you might consider?

I simply adore my 'Soup' XD - enough that I will buy an X2 as backup someday, and see if that tap-tempo and USB gives it anything extra, and useful.
I never expected to use the modelling channel, - but I actually never use anything else! It does it all, literally.
    - worth pointing out amp model number 16 - for electro-acoustic piezo etc - what? a tube acoustasonic, you say???
-You find an amp that sounds better with an electro-acoustic for the money, I'll be DAMN surprised, as i do not believe you will.
    - And that is just one of many sleeper functions of this astonishing little amp.
Looks amazing blonde! I'm a sucker for blackface with the silver grillecloth, but mate, yours is smoove smoove smoove!

Took me ages to get it the eay I wanted but now I wouldnt trade it for anything cos it's super versatile. Jensen P10r smoothed the spikeyness to give it that zingy Fender Princeton reverb tone, amazing little box!

I have an XD, the same amp as the X2, but does not have the tap-tempo or USB socket. It has done plenty of work in the studio; and now I at last have my own little studio, it has come to the fore. A fantastic little amp for recording.
As regards noise; if you cannot remove it, gate it out or whatever, then make it your friend. Good strong vibes will always prevail; the odd bit of noise can easily be accommodated and forgiven... Rock n' Roll!!!
Though, it has to be said; The little Vox VT20 does an astonishing job, the Valve-Reactor technology is surprising, they are practically giving them away at the retail price, and I have NEVER come across an amp, tube, solid-state, digital, that made less noise. It makes NONE! - the same as it is turned off! Now, the clean tones are not as authentic as on the Super-Champ, but some of the filthy ones are deceptively tubesque! Also, the VT would get lost, live, all the nuance would turn to mush, where as the champ is STILL a Fender Champ, through and through, and loves popping out of a Live mix just like any good Fender amp.
But in the studio, the Vox will pretty much give anything a run for the money.
      All the best! UK

@@TheKingacevedo Well - as a total devotee of the 'Soup' XD - I can absolutely totally recommend the X" (just a USB and tap-tempo between them). -- I have never had an issue with noise, I'll be honest. Though I will say, there was a certain degree of slickness of operation when I changed the tubes (myself! first time I ever did that myself, just 6 months ago) from the EHX that were in it for even more 'crazy Ivan' Russian tubes (the EHX are Russian too, but not as good, at least, upon a visual inspection). I was surprised to find EHX in there as I has been led to believe that it was GrooveTubes supplied. But its a GREAT amp - extraordinarily versatile, as I made mention elsewhere... Acoustasonic channel??? You will never get your electro-acoustic to sound more lively! --- do come back to this thread and let us know how you get on, and any questions or whatever, please, feel free. - I wouldnt compare the Vox usually, but I just picked one up, and bugger, is that thing REALLY cut out for home studio work! I mean... its a cheap amp, punching way above its weight, but for Fender cleans... You need to buy a clean Fender! (and even the solid-state Fenders sound great clean). All the best from the UK
