There IS a point to cutting and minimizing costs. But it's a very fine line of cutting the fat without cutting so deep that you start to cut very necessary meat/muscle.
2nd story: Had that exact same issue at my former employer's office building. Our building is surrounded by two medium level crime streets, two housing projects and a hospital. We had an auxiliary lot for parking, but we always had to walk the long way through the housing projects in order to get to it. For the entire time I was there, about 15 years, they refused to take the perpetual suggestion of creating a viable shortcut to that auxiliary lot, simply because it would create "a safety issue". So we had to sometimes rely on security to escort us to the lot, or walk by our lonesome if security wasn't available after 5. At night. In the winter. Or the summer time crazies.
Safety must be provided for employee parking. Transportation must be provided for offsite parking. File charges. "Clock in" adj daily for waiting to be picked up. Let them make you late.
Third story: You get what you pay for. Penny wise, Pound foolish. Finally, good value for the dollar. My supervisor never figured that out. He wanted to be smart, but he wasn't.
Last story. OP ruined a perfectly good opportunity to show up Jeff. Hire him if he's capable of the job. Remind him you're aware of his flaws as they relate to the job and inform him they will be strongly kept in mind when evaluating his job performance so it's expected he will come up with a plan of how he's going to improve on those issues presented at his first performance review. Then sit back while. A) he gets pissy and don't hire him. B) He doesn't present or fillfill a plan. C) He both presents and fillfills a plan. Anyway it goes, it's a win for OP. Either Jeff remains a jobless jerk or OP gets a good employee. While the former may satisfy the immediate need for something akin to revenge the latter can become a matter of pride and demonstrates the character of both OP and Jeff.
It really means getting rid of quality, in materials, maintenance, and labor. Labor is the most expensive part of almost any business, so that is often the first thing to go.
@@Vanilla0729 True overall, but in the context of the segment, where OP goes on to say that people get foreclosed on and move away, I think OP was specifically talking about cutting payroll.
Last story. Perhaps a quote from Skyfall, where Bond first meets the new Q, will serve the purpose. Bond: "Youth is no guarantee of innovation." Q: "And age is no guarantee of experience." Probably isn't the verbatim quote but the point is still there. To illustrate: I recently started a job at a car wash, and I'm old enough to be the father of some of the workers. But they know what they're doing and I know I'd be a fool if I didn't listen to them. So right now I'm following their lead.
Along with his severance, Jeff got his reminder that you see the same people on the way down as you see on the way up. In his case though, it sounds like Jeff saw OP on the way up, and on the way down, and then again when he tried to climb his way back up. Too bad for him that he just couldn't climb OP's ladder in the end.
If I were the employee having to park a long way away, I would have told everyone else about the policy, security would have gotten it changed real quick...
GOOD MORNING RED WHEEL AND ALL OF NEVERLAND!!!! 👋👋👋👋 It's another B-E-A-UTIFUL DAY!!! 🌞 WHOOOOOO!!!! Let's have a Marvelous Manic Monday, Everybody!!! 😁😆🤪 As always.... Stay safe. 😷 Stay hydrated. 💦 Stay blessed. 🙌 😇 🙏
Wow. That guy must jingle when he walks. Asking your business rival which you have threatened for a job. Not even a, “hey I was really out of line and I apologize” first.
The hospital parking policy story reminds me of the time our triage clerk was ticketed because she parked in the visitors lot because the staff lot was full. When Security ignored her protests she came to me as her shop steward and we filed a grievance that she was being disciplined unfairly, which we kept unresolved until she retired three years later, with the fine still unpaid.
We (wife & I) love RedWheel but I think some Reddit writers need to learn how to write a story! The first two stories lacked resolution! The first one was very interesting, had a great build up, then the boss was going to have a meeting with the boss of the two managers in a week and ends without telling what happened afterwards which leaves the listener hanging. The same thing with the second story. The last one was great. RedWheel! It would be nice if you could use your influence to get people to finish their stories!
I’ve also viewed other RUclipsrs who were more than open about what they could and couldn’t say on RUclips and yes, it’s very clear that RUclips is censoring its platform. Blood being one of those things, yet loosely enforced because the algorithm sucks.
Try swearing and see how long it takes for your comments to be deleted. Yes we can choose which words to filter, but if it’s bad enough RUclips will take it down without him knowing.
@@plastiqueneurosis I watch him specifically because I do not like to hear cursing. I have many Reddit readers I can no longer watch simply because they swear prolifically. Their videos aren’t removed or censored. I know that’s anecdotal and not everyone shares my predilection towards clean speech.
Best revenge comes after the slow, meticulous set-up. Using someone else's nearsighted, money grabbing ways are the best!!! I wish I had been more business savvy in my younger years when a lying two-faced bitch lied to the company about me and got my job. At the time I was dealing with a stubborn kidney stone, so I had only one fight in me. A year later I run into 2 of former colleagues, who snidely asking how I was doing? "Oh, great since, after 3x's they actually got the Kidney stone out. It had the consistency of a diamond so the Lazer bounced off. They had a handy little tool that got the 2 left over pieces out," I Thankfully added. I did not mention the complications, that's another story. Then, I told them I was a Brownie/Girl Scout leader. "Nothing else," They asked, curiously? "No, that's it.", I replied. "Oh, I gotta go," because what I had been waiting for was there. Apparently, my ditch digger had said I was starting my own company & was going to grab contracts like they did to OUR former employer THEY had driven out of business. Not interested. During the time when she was Area Director,, Many of the teacher/guides had complained about her, but she was a quick and a VERY believable liar. I had seen her in action.. She was, finally caught in too many lies. From what I understand they went to her home and took back ALL the equipment they had given her to do my job. I never had any of that stuff. Oh, for the company to cut costs we area supervisors worked from home. Later,, After briefly crossing her husband & kids path at open enrollment for my first kid in high school, His kids were saying. "Dad, it her the woman...didn't she...lie after lie left their mouths. He KNEW the truth!! After this happened, I heard her husband had left and was divorcing her. My "set-up" was allowing GOD to get her. It may have taken time to do these things, but He counts every hair on your head. As long as you try to be a better person and get on with your life, He takes care of the rest. He knows us. He hears every prayer & takes notes on no prayer & evil deeds. It was a painful couple of years because she took people who knew & had interacted with me for years, to believe her lies. It was a little lonely but who needs fair-wheather friends? She was THAT GOOD. Today, my life is nowhere near where this happened. I do know, she got her just desserts!!!😇
Q - How to kill a stuck up jerk without actually killing them?
A - Kindness. They hate it.
Only problem with the first story: we are left hanging wondering what happened. Is there an update?
(ETA) Third story: Perfect revenge.
The reason you are looking for is , the first story is FAKE.
There IS a point to cutting and minimizing costs. But it's a very fine line of cutting the fat without cutting so deep that you start to cut very necessary meat/muscle.
Why do bad managers never realize that their actions today might just ruin their prospects for future employment. Jeff is a classic example.
2nd story was Malicious Compliance and Pro Revenge... love it.
3rd story got a good laugh at the end.
Thanks to all OPs and RedWheel for sharing
I would absolutely hire Jeff. In a heartbeat. I need someone to answer my phone calls and bring me coffee.
I... I don't know if I'd honestly let him clean the toilets with how he acts. He'd probably manage to bungle it.

I'd have given Jeff the interview. No intention of hiring, but to see him squirm would have been worth the time.
Safety must be provided for employee parking. Transportation must be provided for offsite parking. File charges. "Clock in" adj daily for waiting to be picked up. Let them make you late.

That is a bad idea. You don't want a problematic person on your company.
Not worth it, he could get in and cause a lot of damage, screw that noise... just not worth it
An improvement plan to begin on day one as part of an employment contract? There's something you don't see every day.
I just realized that in the Cutting Costs segment, "cutting costs" is a business euphemism for "getting rid of workers."
I'd love a follow up on the first story. How did it turn out for those greedy clueless schmucks?
Keep a copy of the company's parking directives and tickets on hand. So when asked why, you have the documentation that says I can't park here.
I'd avoid Jeff like the plague. Even if I hired him as a janitor, he might crawl his way up and potentially bring the company down.
Hello RedWheel thank you for your stories everyday. Hi everyone hope you are all well. Please stay safe.🏴😷😁👍. Have a great day everyone

Temp workers aren’t half the price of regular staff. Temps generally cost three times more.

Last story: Should have called Jeff in for a personal interview.
Great start to my Monday! Thanks, RedWheel!
Such good videos all the time!!!!
Wow RUclips censors all the B words don’t they lol
Huh? I don’t think RUclips is censoring anything. Redwheel chooses to keep it clean cause he is awesome like that.

Why ya gotta put down us 80's people. Yea there is some trash, but many of us are logical people who know how to delegate appropriately.
Ok can I just say that last story was sooooo statisfying to hear. This made my day. 😂🤩😊
The 80s were not cost cuting nor bad or lean times. The 70s because of nixon and carter were crap.
And Ford, Don't forget Ford.
Good morning RW from mid Tn. I hope you have a great day brother.
