Hard to believe a late career song - released as a record store day limited edition vinyl with no distinct chorus - could end up being a candidate for Blurs best song.
Its a really nice tune but it sounds like you need to hear The Universal again. Even if you take a classic Blur song in a similar groove to this like Coffee and TV it really is no comparison. Still a great song though and one I come back to every now and then.
@@NowhereMan7 I beg to differ. I love "The Universal" and "Coffee and TV" but this one pops up in my head again and again and again, more often than the two songs mentioned (which also do pop up in my head). It's a matter of personal taste in the end. For me, this one's top 3, at least. It's one of my all time favourite songs by any artist.
@@elduuude to me it’s just interesting how one band can have so many different styles of music in their catalogue. You cannot pick one to be their best, or their anthem as one track cannot sum up their career.
Love the mood and lyrics of this song, always loved them. Perfectly captures the comforting yet slighly melancholic repetition of everyday life, of going through different chores amid grey London days and cool spring weather.

Excuse me? This isn’t on Spotify? This is a hate crime, I’m disgusted, I’m revolted, I dedicate my entire life to our lord and savior Jesus Christ, and this is the thanks I get?!
It’s not on i tunes either, which is a good thing. It was a vinyl only release. A great statement against the non physical electronic media system. 2 fingers up.
Criminal that this is not on Spotify
Yeah it's 'criminal'...? Is it?
Agreed
It used to be :(
the same happens with another great Damon song: Do ya thing
it would be criminal if it was on spotify.
One of the best songs of Blur in my opinion!
yeah man it's insane
Missing this on spotify, like other great tunes
facts, this and "Repition"
it’s my fav
@@djde4th877repitition is on spotify :)
Happy April Fools Day 2024!
Thanks! Happy non birthday
I wish Blur had released an entire album around that time with more stuff like this!
I think its good that they dont have a whole load of mediocre albums like Oasis. At least theres that.
Have you heard Magic Whip?
Elfwald or Think tank?
Agreed... It sounds great!
Like with songs like "coffee and tv" on it, I hear ya

100% agree - I adore this song
yep its incredible
Coxon's guitar at the end 😍
This song needs a music video. When I listen to it I imagine a guy on a bike riding through the city.I don't know, just imagine that.
BrendenTurtle probably because he describes how he is riding his bike ; )
Brenden - Comedy, Facts and Gaming! Yeah Brendan it's probably definitely the lyrics that are creating that vivid image for you - just a hunch
So give me cof- hang on nope wrong one
On a grey morning
Love the mood and lyrics of this song, always loved them.
Perfectly captures the comforting yet slighly melancholic repetition of everyday life, of going through different chores amid grey London days and cool spring weather.
I could listen to that outro for days
Wake up straight, caught out by the sun
On the first day of April
Out of bed, Lord, it was a plane crash
But I'm sure that I was dreaming
TV on, I blast caffeine
A science of submission again
Another day on this little island
Just a bell hangs on
[Verse 2]
Porridge done, I take my kid to school
Passed the pound shop, Woolworths
Under bridge, where the subway sees the daytime
And the Westway flies by
Then on my bike, down the Ladbroke Grove
To the forthcoming dramas
A studio and a love of all sweet music
We just can't let go
Let go, let go, let go, let go
[Verse 3]
So meditate on what we've all become
On a cold day in spring time
Civil war is what we were all born into
Raise your left hand, right, sing
Don't capitulate to the forces of the marketplace
They're long departed
Consolidate the love we bear together
On a cold day in spring time
Amazing lyrics.
thank you
Gracias!
Encore merci c'est toujours cool d'avoir les lyrics
Thanks!
Absolutely addicted to the outro 😌
Matt Ludlam Yeah man, everything after that guitar solo, that "release", is pure bliss!
Same :)
Rad tune. Graham Coxon guitar is on spot and quite a catchy bass from Alex. Love this Blur gem
Can’t believe I got to hear this live
Me too, such a great show
Hey you found it! A great great treasure! Congrats! 🎉
I want Blur to select this song as the next album's title song... This song is splendid!!!
That outro seems to say: "Yeah, don't worry, it's gonna be fine"
how
@@emmymofield1382 Obviously it's not the lyrics, since it's just instrumental, it's like a feeling I get from the music itself
Totally
the solo in the outro is meravigliosooo
Mario Tagliabue Graham sa il fatto suo
This was a throwback to modern life is rubbish period
Wow! I'm 10 years late. This is amazing
Every year on this day here I am
One of the best things they ever did
Blur should release a single for Record Store Day every year.
Why is this so incredible forever x
Qué joyita, carajo! Desde que se lanzó se hizo una de mis favoritas. Venir a ella de vez en cuando porque no está en Spotify es reconfortante y placentero. 🙌🏼

Discovered it today! Blur is one of my fav bands?! How did I miss it for so long! It's beautiful.
April Fools 2019 anyone?
For Sur Pure Competizione ! Greetings From France
@@stuart792 Kia Ora from New Zealand : )
Greeting from China! I wonder why it is not on Spotify?
The first Blur song after their reunion. Can't believe it's 10 years old.
10 years thats mad
why must blur's unreleased tracks be the best ones?
But this was released on Record Store day of 2009. Hell, you can even see the cover of the single on the video.
@@rike94 2010 wasnt it?
What unreleased songs do you rank as their best ones? Why do I have a felling you arent going to name one....
@@NowhereMan7 Colours is one their best songs and it was never released as a single and it is not part of any album or compilation.
Look for a used copy of Blur's complete box set - it's on that.
This is amazing I love Blur so much
Love this still. Please play it live.
they finally did
best blur song ever....
I need a 10 hour loop of this lol. Definitely going to look into getting the vinyl, this is one of my favourite songs to ever exist.
I have a copy of this for sale if you are interested?
@@guyhalford as a CD or the vinyl??

Dat song that you remember to listen every year on the 1st of april.

Couldn't have been a better way to release the first song with Graham back: let him finish it with that catchy outro.
Where was Graham earlier?
