LF is perfect for me on my 2018 12.9. It can encode heavily edited/corrected 4k at nearly 1:1, while my desktops struggle 5x slower.
That’s great. It is amazing how powerful they are.
I’m with you! I used a 2018 12.9 inch as my only laptop solution for 2-3 years, with an iMac as my main editing rig. I enjoyed doing it and my main workflow would be assemblies in LumaFusion, in a cafe or something, then return to the iMac and send the project to FCPX via XML for finishing. But I just did a year of data wrangling for two tv shows, and I did all of my footage collating/reviewing in Resolve. You’re right - without the proper media management tools it’s very hard to adopt Lumafusion as a full-time editor, much as I love using it and especially using the Apple Pencil for interacting with the timeline.
I actually won a free 12.9 inch M1 iPad Pro earlier this year, and the upgrade was unnecessary but great - but I also just invested in a 16 inch MacBook to replace the iMac, so now the iPad is pretty much a content consumption device and/or a second HDR monitor for when I’m editing on the laptop. I’m hopeful that Resolve for iPad will take me back to it a little more often, because like you said, on paper using an iPad for work is a brilliant concept.
That’s great you were able to use LF on iPad regularly as an offline setup. I’ve done some of that too. It’ll definitely be interesting to see what Resolve for iPad offers and whether it’ll suffice for data wrangling or maybe DIT work. Thanks for watching!
@@BlakeCalhoun it always became a pain moving the timeline back over to FCP or Resolve though - again because of the average media management, I’d still want to go in and organise the media once I’d imported the XML. Ends up making the process a bit backwards b but maybe that’s the traditionalist in me, dunno haha.
I use my iPad for filmic remote
Cool. That’s a good use.
