I’ve “dipped my toe” into AI. On my “Goth Burger” video, I needed an exterior, photo-realistic shot of a run down, urban burger restaurant at night to use as an establishing shot. I really didn’t want to scout locations and use an actual existing structure (no time for that)- Enter Dall-E2. Boom. Got what I needed. The other day, just for fun I asked Chat GPT to write a 5 minute short film, and I gave it some parameters to use. I was actually kind of impressed with what it generated. So, I could see it being used, if nothing else, as a writing prompter to give one a jumping off point with an idea.
Your 16mm samples look good but they're not interlaced because they're film (although I don't understand that one double-image, that looks interlaced, maybe it was part of the pulldown), but how does it treat interlaced Betacam footage? Thanks!
Yeah, all that 16mm film was actually interlaced because it was all transferred to Betacam way back in 2000. So everything there was captured from interlaced 29.97 Beta SP and then Topaz deinterlaced it and it’s really great at that. But the original footage was of course 720x486 SD and so when it upscaled to HD it’s pretty muddy, but still looks much better.
Yes can’t wait it be game changer it be the the future of filmmaking your film crew actors location etc will be created by small device in your pocket maybe not all content but definitely good percentage of your content it can save you a lot of time & money that’s a win win instant gratification!

Yeah, I think that’s a very good use for it right now. And AI generated video is coming soon. It’s here now actually, but early stages.
