I believe they switched to Afrikaans because of his mother, her English might be very basic and she can express herself way better in her own language.
His dad is a fairly big guy, played rugby for the Northerns rugby club in Cape Town. Never represented western province, today called Stormers , the province he lives in, but came close. His uncle, nicknamed Chippy, was a fearsome player. It's a long time ago, I think he played lock and flank. Represented Western Province. Never played for Springboks, though. Chippy took up pro wrestling after rugby career over. I think opponents were a bit scared of Chippy. So maybe there's a bit of his dad and his uncle in him. And his mother looks quite a big lady as well. Many yrs ago I met his cousin, Chippy daughter. She was well over 6 ft tall. If you Google those names, and his dad, forgot his name, there might be some articles about them. Especially Chippy.
@nic0072 Yes you correct. It is Cliffy. I got that one wrong. Must have been late here when I typed that, probably was tired. Cliffy was a fearsome guy as a player.
