The Scottish have proper all round humour and this is why I love watching Only an Excuse? It's so funny I cannot stop laughing my head off and yet I'm crying with laughter at the same time!
This was when Only an Excuse was a firm New Year Favourite Sadly it went downhill every year for the last 15 years it got embarrassing.. I'm glad they had the sense to put us all out of our MISERY and BIN the show,,,
It went down hill because of the gradual infection that created the woke thin skinned who were educated and coerced to get offended about waking up in the morning. A brilliant series that died a slow death due to political correctness.

Not to sound like an old fart, but fuck me, I can't believe this was over 15 years ago. It wasn't a bad dream, Berti Vogts did manage the Scotland team. I'd forgotten OAE was still good at this time but the quality went off a cliff not long afterwards. Does anyone have a link to the Jim McLean "I am mentaaaaaal!!!" episode? 2000 or 2001 I think.
Back in the day when tv shows where nothing but a piss take and a laugh offending anything and anyone. Fact this was only in once a year is the biggest shame in Scotland. Should get remade and put back to this as no one who is properly Scottish gets offended by this.
A programme that got more embarrassing year on year - due mainly to the poor script and jokes. When Phil Differ was mainly in charge of the writing it was half decent, but once they opened it up to mainly amateur public contributors, the quality of writing plummeted. It should have been scrapped long before it was.
Forgot how good this was. I'm searching for more. TV nowadays is pure goats mince.
