You can band-saw aluminium plate using a wood cutting blade at wood cutting speeds and get excellent cuts and good blade life. I've cut 2" thick aluminium with a 3/8" wood blade. Works for me!
Beautiful work but the joining link from the shifter pedal to the gearbox arm with that overlong extension puts too much torque on the shifter arm. There is too much offset betwwen the two arms.
The offset is due to the lever ratio to the shift stroke. Ideally, the smaller the offset, the better, but in this case, strength is not a problem at all.
It's a lovely thing, but speaking as an engineer. I would have liked to have seen the fixings sub flush. If you're going to counterbore/sink a fixing in, then that's the only look for me. Everything for a reason.
