  • I am currently WWOOFing in Kauai for 3 months. Been wanting to do this for a long time to learn about more sustainable living, just to get out of my comfort zone, and try something new. Finally took the leap! Here is a tour of the place I'm living in for the next few months.

As an older person who chose a different fulfillment in life, job security, life partner, children and financial security in retirement, I’m always amazed at how many in your generation are living in the now and not worrying about the future. Good for you doing what feels right. Wish you the best. By the way, living for free is actually 20 hours a week of labor is it not?😊 Proud of you.

Thanks Hans, for sure I am working 20 hours. I just feel when there isn't money involved, doing something different almost every day, learning something new, being outdoors, and just getting hands dirty. Its a little more laid back. Its great to hangout with the other farmers too. It doesn't feel too much like work. Like it would in most jobs. Living here in an apartment or anything else is very expensive.
So just doing 20 hours a week to live on a beautiful island seems like a steal to me. Plus its a much cheaper way to travel to new places and get more out of your experience living in a new environment that you aren't used to. So I'm getting more out of it than just doing some labor, I'm getting a feel for what life is like here too.
