Wow thank you @agrimakumari4779 , comments like these motivate me to push the limits of what is possible for this channel! Whereabouts are you based in the world and what are you studying? Will you begin applying for quant roles soon? Let me know what video ideas and concepts you would like to see, I am all ears!
@@myquantitative Thanks eh, I am Indian, I graduated in 2023 and currently working in a Non-Tech job, I do have a 5-month work experience with WorldQuant though. I was planning to apply in Quant roles soon yeah, once I am all done with my preparation. Regarding vid ideas, I think, someone like me would be interested in what level of Preparation you need to start applying. Like CP - how much should I do it to be qualified enough to apply, and also about the projects, like what could be acceptable project ideas for a Quant resume. I was thinking of creating something with ML + Finance + Statistics, but I am still brainstorming of what all I can include. Also regarding Finance, is CFA L-1 enough prep for Quant or should we prepare more. So, I saw your vids and they were detailed regarding the topics and everything that we have to prepare, just a detailed videos on the above would also help alot. Kind of a deeper dive in each section, I am asking for a lot I know💀💀
@agrimakumari4779 Regarding your time at WorldQuant, what type of role was this? Regarding CP, I'm assuming you are referring to competitive programming. CP is popular due to it being close to the type of question one faces in your standard coding assessments. If you have won CP awards, those serves as great "signallers" of your intelligence but ultimately, everyone is assessed with coding assessments, your time is best spent grinding LeetCode. General advice seems to be that the complexity for quant roles don't exceed LeetCode mediums. However, if you're aiming for Quant Dev roles (basically a SWE role) or gunning for the top firms, being prepared for LeetCode hards is a great strategy to have. Regarding projects, unlike SWE, the concept of personal portfolio projects does not seem to be popular within the quant application process. The quant industry places a high value on academic and research prowess so the best builders of a resume have always been a strong STEM programme from a reputable university coupled with research experience involving statistical modelling, ideally within the context of the financial markets. I've yet to hear of a personal projects for a quant resume . That being said, if anyone reading this has an example of a personal quant project adding value to a C.V (and it also being rather accessible to your average aspiring quant), me and everyone else would love to hear about it! Regarding the CFA L-1, yes to my knowledge, that amount of general finance knowledge will be sufficient. Depending on the role, the specific area of finance knowledge expected of you will differ. Your time will be better spent on all the other aspects that you will be assessed on! Thank you for the feedback! I am keeping in mind all the needs of this community, I know how vague and sparse information can be so I will try my best!
@@myquantitative at WorldQuant I was a quant researcher just making alphas. Thanks for all the input on CP, projects and Finance, and for creating vids. May I know what quant firm you are working at?
My man i'm started my journey to become a quant in the future i like how you explain things . I just wonder if you make a videos talking about books in probability statistics.. time series ...
Hey @ayoub3188, appreciate the comment! Yes, such a video will definitely be helpful for all aspiring and current quants as well. I was considering doing a video that shares the best books for each topic. So the top 3 books for Probability, Top 3 for Statistics, Top 3 for Time Series, Top 3 for ML and maybe even the top books for general reading about the industry. These may not just be limited to books, it could even include resources like prep/test sites, other youtube channels etc. Would you be interested in something like this? Appreciate any and all ideas you may have so don't be afraid to throw it out here!
@@myquantitative of course man . That would be so helpful . Man what can i say . Thank you so much . I can't wait to see more and more videos . Keep going ❤❤
