To call Killing Joke a punk band is doing them an injustice. They are so much more than just a punk band, or a post-punk band. They are one of the most amazing, original, influential and legendary rock bands of my generation who unlike most aging rock bands who've lost the plot years ago, KJ have only improved with age and experience. They defy sub-genre categorization really. I'm more of an extreme black & death metalhead 99% of the time, but I worship KJ.

yes, he is indeed a great bassplayer, but what the fukk does that penetrant term `underrated` mean?!? he didn`t get enough attention by an audience? there`s nobody or `not enough` people in the world appreciating his playing? and if so, did u count them all? it`s the old thing about ratings and arts. it`s simply absurd - i`ll never get it - anyway, CHEEEERZ!!!
Seriously, single digits. I mean, do electronic bands like Human League and Erasure count? There's Killing Joke, Bahaus, U2 and....? Rolling Stones unchanged since 1994, sure, but not 'original.'
Quite alot of hate on this thread for Jaz and the boys. Jaz has always been a musical madman. He has been known to play a Killing Joke set and then go right over to the Prague Symphony Orchestra....where he is a composer in residence....and conduct an orchestra of all of his own original compositions. Award winning compositions, I might add. He is a multi platinum classical composer who just happens to be a punk rock freak of majickal nature. If you do not get it, that's what you get for reading someone else's mail.......
Thank you for relaying Jaz's impressive credentials as a musician. Most people haven't a clue to his genius. He is brilliant, as is the entire band. IMHO, the hate really seems to come from a place of deep jealousy. Some people may laugh at my statement, but those who are familiar with the lyrics, the musical compositions and the fact that they have stayed original after 40 years, is another most impressive hidden fact.
Are you one of the wankers standing at the front not moving throughout the entire gig? Worst audience at a Gathering ever. You should be ashamed of yourselves showing KJ such disrespect.
Last time they came to Los Angeles, they had John Markovich doing their sound! He did sound for the Ramones, like 20 years...hadn’t seen him since ‘96...very Bitchen gig
Interesting how they chose the mantra incantation used in Stanley Kubricks Etes wide shut, a good choice for setting the mood. Kubrick was killed for the secrets he revealee in that movie and 18 minutes were taken out of it that we will never knkw what exactly for. Anyhow this is awesome!
OMG yes, the Roxy! I'm a New Yorker and I feel like I missed my chance to see anything at the the Roxy in L.A. But I have seen late Killing Joke twice. :-)
The fact that Geordie can play a big hollow body guitar, and with P90 pickups, and with such heavy tones, and not get any uncontrollable feedback from it, is an achievement in itself......I'd hate to think how many pairs of socks he had to stuff into the f - holes to kill the feedback 👍
Not quite sure of the meaning of the young lady in her underwear during the last track, or her taking her top off, but I suspect it is an important one...
The audio here is ruined by a compressor on the master channel - you can hear it when they launch into a song, for a second or two it sounds killer then the volume drops and the sound is flat as fuck. This is why the crowd isn't responding I reckon, over compressed live music sucks. Using a compressor in this manner is such a lazy technique for live audio, basically brickwalling
