    Good to see an older Kenwood being resurrected 😀 the transceivers of this age have hinged front panels. You remove two of the three screws on the side and loosen the one nearest the front bottom on both sides and the panel hinges on the loosened screw.

    Finally.... God bless you my friend.. I've the same receiver, with same issues...I got half a rip-off by buying it online, only to discover that it had a lot of problems..I look forward to your videos..73

    There does exist smaller 7 segment displays.
    Another approach could be to find some old calculators and see how it will fit.

      Thank you - yes, both good suggestions - I have been looking and have now ordered some smaller 7 segment displays which are green, and will look more like the original display. Hoping to show some progress soon with this project!
