Looks like it’s going to be a great series and will watch with intrigue, I have my mums old R2000 which has developed a fault on the receiving side, a funny noise and a strange smell do one day hope to fix it. Look forward to the next video cheers Rich G6VGC
Any chance your going to do the RF Gain Mod? I'm told that it makes a world of difference - the Kenwood R2000 Group has the instructions on it but I'm more of a see it then do it kind of person.
I've looked it up - and it seems like a really good idea - I don't know if I'll follow up on it, though, having only just got the receiver back together, I'm not very keen to take it all apart again. Having completed the restoration (Part 3 available now), I find the radio very useable - between stations the RF gain is noisy, but when a station is tuned in that ceases to be an issue. It's working very well and I'm very pleased with it - I may add a power switch and change over to battery/12v power in the near future. Thanks for your interest and suggestions, 73 from Mort / G4BSK
