That episode shows perfectly how War really looks like. Better than many games or movies. Soliders who fighting and fighting the enemy. Innocent people Men, Woman and Children dieing cause of that. Commander who not evacuate them, just want to fight. In War you never found some good things just dead and pain on both side. The normal soldier follow orders and have to life with the trauma.
War are glorified in the past and today too. But its nothing good in Wars. Yes the main protagonist is a Psychopath but everyone else are normal peopole on both sides. Both sides had innocent blood on their hands.

Everybody in this world is so used to fighting the old way so they struggle to understand Tanya's way of thinking.

@@TheRealFalkerry The empire couldn't do it any other way. What was never shown in the anime, the pro-empire part of the population was killed by republican forces before the arrival of Tanya. The republican general said he will use anything he has, even his own population as human shields.
The empire did nothing wrong, they are the victims here.
@@23GreyFox i'm far from siding with the Republic here ^^, but you cannot deny the Empire used loopholes and such to have it our way to wipe the entire population of the city (unarmed civilians as well ^^)
@@TheRealFalkerry In the end around half of the civilian population died. And you are right, it was dirty what the empire did. But in a defensive war, where your enemy doesn't follow a law at all, you have no choice.
in the novel. after completing arene's cleaning mission. Tanya was summoned to a military court for the first time on a case of alleged violation of international law on war in the city. however, the case was easily resolved because asking for full support from his superiors.
Wrong that was about the submarine not Arene
Those people/civilian are really stubborn after give them with paper big alert and when their city get blow up cause they killing the soldier and disobey the profesional military, the people get mad and want to rebelious/revenge toward Empire like that kid at the end. That even not peace way for their own good.

First of all that is what happens when you give civilians weapons, they are not instructed and don't know how things actually work. In their eyes they were protecting their city but because the republicans assisted at a revolution, the empire demanded the eliberation of the citizen as if that city rightfully belonged to the empire in the first place. They instead killed a prisoner which gave the empire to fully wipe out that whole place.
I'm glad they always aprecciate the explosions

These episodes are not easy to watch. Especially if someone has some minimum knowledge about the Second World War. This is anime so it's drawn so many people will laugh but in my country civilians defended themselves against enemy troops and lost many uprisings. Not once did I laugh while watching this anime. This is not a comedy.
There are a lot of references in this anime. When the military started massacring civilians? I felt uncomfortable even though I was not alive during the wars.
and you didn't feel disgusted when the militia killed an unarmed person trying to escape? (I made an audible ugh) If they have a gun they are not a civilian they are a militia and an army has the right to shoot them. The civilians' blood is on the hands of the militia, you should take this anime at face value, no one here is good but only one side is noticeably trying to play by the rules, plus it seems your view of the actual history is clouding your judgment.
Also, dark comedies are just that dark, I think people should never fault you for not finding it amusing but in turn, you should at least understand that amusement and disgust are not opposites and one can be a coping method for the other
I hate the reactor from bottom left,he thinks he knows everything about getting in war and how it feels to see civilians with despair look that your really gonna think 10x if you can do it or not
