Killer Peak offers an amazing view of the Red Lake and Bicaz Valley . A panoramic cabin is right on the edge of the Killer Mountain. You can climb from Red Lake to this cabin following a circuit of 7 km and 3 - 4 hours ( a portion of the route is steep but short) . The Red Lake formed after an earthquake in 1838 due to a land slide from Killer Mountain that blocked the Bicaz river. The stumps that come out of the water give this lake a unique charm . The red color is due to the clays rich in iron oxides. The view from Killer Mountain is spectacular.
