great analysis ! btw for people who don't understand why this playstyle is better than "normal support" is because moira does not gives any utility to your team,moira can be good if your team is perfectly coordinate in a normal support playstyle but in ranked no matter the ranks anything can happen so distracting the backlines is much more valuable. You may think that the other support of ur team will struggle way to much but not really unless he plays a low healing output heros like zen or lucio that main focus is utility.He won't struggle healing 3 people where as the enemy backlines will either have 2 people focusing down the moira or else one of them will die since moira is amazing in duels. making the fight a 3vs4
Yeah, people don't understand that when a Moira is in the enemy backlines harassing the enemy supports it makes the fight basically a 4v3. While your team is indeed down one support, their team basically have none.
@Caio Campoy i think that goes for moira as well. Mechanical skills and good sight still takes place for moira as well as kiriko. Id say both are extremely hard to flank especially alone. But kiriko does get much more out of her skillsets and utilities while being unreliable. Moira is more reliable but gets less out of flanking. Id say kiriko is best fit with side flanking dps or dive tanks while moira seems to be much more of a solo play based

The flank at 2:07 is actually super clean. They fade + ult immediately after ana uses both nade and sleep. Maybe they were playing up close on the corner to bait them first.
That's why DPS Moira works for this player and not for 90% of Moiras on ladder. Most of the time you'll see them flank Coal vs the whole team w full cooldowns, get CCd and die.

LOL Moira is the EASIEST character to play in the game at the moment, takes little to no skill to master her and this is coming from a moira GM from last season I wanted to try a real challenge this season and picked up tracer BOYYYY you don't know HARD till you play Tracer, deff only for the skilled.

Something I don't think we saw much of here but that I get a lot of value from on Moira is the space control orb provides. I can displace Hanzo/Widow/Ashe pretty easily with just a semi-decent bounce at nearly any range. I can force out reapers and tracers who are trying to set up, etc. I get a lot of value from Orb's space control even when it doesn't land much damage.
after playing the new patch where they allowed moira to stop the orb as she pleases i can tell you right tf now it’s crazy. I’m actually doing less dmg since i can just keep my heal orb in front of me while i 1v3 the enemy back line. I like to use it as a “if you want my heals you have to take this position” or i put it around a corner to hold the enemy back
I’m g1/p5 support for context, but dps Moria, to me, is just the most impactful you can be as a support aside from standard zen gameplay on some maps. I heal A LOT more than what’s shown in this gameplay, I’m really surprised to see how little healing he does actually. But the ability to follow up your dive tanks/dps, avoid their dives, duel most other heros, contest back line snipers/supports… the list goes on and the impact is insane. People also have no idea how to play against it and typically resort to swapping to heros their uncomfortable with just to avoid dying in the back line. Even from this brief gameplay I’ve realized I need to work on my positioning and aim though, as I’ve climbed the ranks lately dps players have gotten much more accurate and winning duels is no longer as free as it used to be.
Im only silver but i know i could climb to at least play if i played more. And I 100% agree the things moira can do impacts the game a lot. It’s honestly just common sense that “you can’t kill my teammates if you’re focused on me” but if you can’t kill me then how will you kill my teammates? She’s not orisa so you can’t ignore moira (or at least me) can keep peeling in and out.

witnessing this play style of moira has changed my perspective on how to best play her, it’s really interesting to see how a hero can be pushed to their limits through innovation
DPS Moira= Innovative I’m sorry but if the healers on the other team die less by either winning the 1v1s, positioning better, getting peel from tank/dps, there’s no way this would work. That’s why it is so good on ladder, because you just can’t get consistent peel, and people on ladder aren’t as good compared to OWL.
I think people seriously underestimate a good Moira. She can flank better than some DPS, and that mobility is what lets her work this way. Moira is a chip damage character, and weaponizing that to harass and pressure vulnerable backlines is where her utility comes from. One minute she can be pushing the Ana to retreat or pick her off entirely, the next she can throw herself behind a Rein or Ram shield and dump her healing into her team. She has the highest healing per second output in the game at 70, which can be doubled to 140 if you use her healing orb as well. And even if you don’t and prefer damage, the damage orb will farm your healing juice while you’re dumping into your tank. For me I like to stay around my tank and help pick off kills before they can disengage, but sometimes you do have to dive yourself and eliminate the mercy or Bap to ensure a win for the team fight.

I feel like there are several opportunities to add melee in for extra damage. For example, a melee just before fading from the Tracer at 5:50 would have finished her with no extra cost.
As a dps Moira who is used to people always complaining I’m glad to see someone who actually points out the good aspects of being one Funny how in every match there’s always a jealous dps who always complains about you going dps and not healing enough when you actually have the same or more healing than the other support PLUS more damage and kills than your dps Like I don’t get why people complain about dps Moira if it’s so effective, maybe it’s solely because they don’t like that play style not so much because it doesn’t work But anyway I didn’t get to grandmaster by pleasing people but by working with them like it or not
As a genji main, never dive a moira. This is true from bottom ranks all the way up to top ranks lmao. Even with fade down she can outheal your damage unless you land perfect triple headshots
If the orb is bouncing in an enclosed space it's pretty easy to deflect, and suddenly those 300 HP go to the Genji instead of Moira, that should be kept in mind.

The trick is having both down no moira actually flanking will be caught with out 1 or the other the moment u deflect it ill just crouch strafe and self healing will be enuff to get me fade to which I'll fade away get distance the throw the orb behind me where u can't deflect and just win
i think its incredibly fascinating how these #1 ranked players on each character all have such different playstyles compared to other people even in top 500 alongside them. theyre just on such another level that theyve figured out an even MORE optimal playstyle than what 99% of people use. this guy using dps moira in top 500 has me realizing there is absolutely no ceiling in this game, which is fucking wild
I switch between dps moira and traditional support in a match, but the one thing I can't seem to have an answer for are mercy pockets. Specifically when my team doesn't focus the Mercy, Moira needs time to kill and you just can't kill her fast enough before your team dies. The only strat that sometimes works is staggering the enemy team away from the pocket duo, to essentially force my team to engage the 2v4. But I guess you could say that's just a general trick for flankers, it's not all just flanking, it's also divide and conquer essentially.
I play dps moira on the edge of my team. I'm always ready to heal as soon as my team needs it. But I focus disruption and side flanks. But i think it's absolutely important that moira is always 1 fade jump from the team to support the other healer.
I know moira doesn’t have much utility compared to other supports, but her immense substain probably is one of her utilities that I find I can abuse on the ladder. Bouncing an healing orb and having good movement/fade usage can allow you to duel and win against most heroes in the game
As a Master ranked Moira main, I believe every Moira should learn this play style. Not to play only this way, but learning it to improve your knowledge and utilization of the character. This will open up many new opportunities to think of and execute when playing. DPS is an essential role to play as Moira, however knowing the right situations for this role is necessary. Moira’s character is centered around duality. She can heal/save teammates effortlessly with heal orb + spray, another essential for the team. So it’s all about finding the perfect balance between these two play styles. Capatalizing on the versatility will provide the best value as Moira.
DPS healer is becoming always needed in a match, but that doesn't excuse them from healing. I've seen some great moiras, kirkios and baps just utterly dealing tonnes of damage and really squeezing the juice from the other team. Moira just has a faster fade/disappear which comes in handy for when you are being focused hard. But simply just being in the right place at the right time, and other than kiriko moira has the ability to be up front and peel back as needed, sometimes she can peel forward and do just fine.
Honestly I play moria and can drop more healing than alot of the supports and more dps than them consistently. The ball rebounds for healing are insane in combination with her M1. You can legit counter loads of ults by just pooping out a ball and holding m1 and get 1k healing in seconds.
If I as a DPS Moira single handedly deal with both the enemy supports Consistently and even their DPS and the rest of my team can’t handle 4v3 team fight and blame it on my lack of healing. Despite the fact they still have 1 support and the enemy team have 0. Consider the fact you may not be as good as you think.
Warning to Moria players: This strat only works if you have exceptional map knowledge, target selection, and mouse tracking. If you lack one of these things, play something else.
Uhhhh no... she only has damage and heals compared to every other support that that do that plus more. Flats said it best, Moira is a 2D character in a 3D game.
I saw KarQ analysis on top1 Moira in the US. The reason why they heal so much sometimes is simply because they are minmanxing and trying to get ult charge. Cuz there's nothing else to do in that particular moment.
3:08 - I can’t tell from the seconds prior if the deflect was on cooldown or not, but why didn’t Genji deflect the orb to win the duel? I can’t help but be a little suspicious as to what kind of lobby this Moira player is in. Immediately before this duel, the Genji lost another duel despite also getting a health pack in the middle of it, and the only reason why the Moira disengaged is the Kiri came to help the Genji. The Genji then used his only movement cooldown to just get to the Moira (without damaging her), clearly was not tracking cooldowns because she had orbits available to keep herself alive and win the duel, and didn’t deflect her healing orb, which would have likely won him the duel. Maybe he thought his Kiri would teleport to him and help him kill the Moira, but she probably already had to focus on her team, who had been fighting down a man since she and the Genji were both focused on the Moira for a bit.
Its crazy to me that more people dont play like this. Ive been playing moira exactly like this since she came out, and even if you carry your team and win they still hate. Just seeing these comments and reading “omg this is crazy i didnt know” over and over is annoying🤣
This play style will get you hard stuck in silver, gold, plat. This play style works because they are in top 500 and everyone there is super coordinated. I 1 tricked Moira to GM and my advice to get out of bronze-gold with Moira is to focus on healing first. There will be games where DPSing as Moira will be beneficial but there are more games where her healing alone will win you games.
Absolutely false. Pro players and good content creaters say you can get out of the metal ranks easily with Moira. After that, it will be harder to play Moira due to her kits simplicity.
I one tricked Moira to GM in OW1 doing DPS style and it was so easy. I could spawn camp entire plat teams by myself. DPS moira has always been extraordinarily powerful whether the teams are coordinated or not, it just takes good positioning and aggressive usage of combined damage orbs with secondary fire/ult
literraly never went to see moira guide, felt so natural to play like this to me haha im destroying every game with moira , most of the time top damage and top heal, you just need to know what you gonna have to do this game, heal or dps, or hybrid
I too go with his play style, and heal when I can. This requires your second healer and tank to coordinate.. I have a 59 elim in comp, lower rank on my channel.
DPS moira is fun to play and probably the best dps hero in the whole game. If it weren't for Moira then queue times would triple. Moira should be on the cover of the game.

A bit too much aggression tbh. It's fine to flank and attack the backline, but I expect high ranking players to perfectly switch from aggressive to defensive stance.
we accidentally set it to public before it was ready to ship, so we put it back to private, but when we changed it back to public, the algorithm died x_x so we just chose to reupload.
Problem is OW is a team game, so while Moira is on her venture the other teammates are suffering. Theoretically it should be 4 v 3 but if there is a dps diff or a tank diff than that doesn’t matter. Time and a place for everything, I can see someone doing this a few times during the game but not the whole game.
If there's a dps diff I think this playstyle is actually MORE valuable. If your DPS are as good as or better than the enemy, then you can get a lot of value by healing them. If they're worse, then you'll be healing them only to for them to not do much. I think one of the more valuable plays you can make with this playstyle is forcing the Ana to waste her nade on herself, though. Because it's basically a hard counter to Moire if she lands it on your team and you don't have a Kiriko. This can work even if you are mostly healing.
Great video, but superjumping on moira is not when you jump as your exit fade. It is when you fade and jump off of a slanted object or the edge of an object to boost yourself really high.
Honnestely see that kind of moira is way better than those moiras thinking they doing stuff and die straight as a moira main i do more heal than dps but ik when i can dps and never dps for kills i dps for support and let my team get the opportunity get the kill
i play the same style of moira. maybe heal alot more than they do lmao. but i notice he plays the long game thinks about the entire game and not just the current team fight
When I play Moira, I aim to keep my healing above my damage, but I'm not afraid to take duels, eliminate a support, etc. It keeps my healing up and my team doesnt need heeling if nobody is there to damage them! Keeping my team alive is my main goal, but keeping myself alive and getting an elimination when possible its the closest thing Moira has to Utility. You gotta be aggressive but without over extending and neglecting your team. She cant 1v5 the enemy team, so trying to play her exclusively as a Dps and not supporting is a fast way to lose. Especially when she does very low (but consistent) damage. I believe her main attack does the lowest damage in the game, but it heals her and can be combined with her orbs. Anyone can beat her in a duel if they have good aim and hit their shots.
Unironically this guy has a very good aim (yes OW2 moira needs aim). That's what kinda makes him good. I personally miss a lot of shots on moira (when I try to ADAD strafe well). I also hate the fact that moira's jump is kinda low. So you can't really take any good high grounds with it. OW1 dps moira was more fun tbh.
You are coping so hard how do you watch this gameplay and think: „wow, good aim“ watch people play actually mechanically demanding heros and you will see what good aim looks like

i honestly didnt know other players play like that too. I do a similar play style im masters on support (but ig im gm on tank too so) but i do the same play style shown here. Oriented on getting picks and applying pressure though not exactly the same and as refined as this player yet its cool to see other players do similar things
i normally play her very similar to this. But i will sit next to my team and then dash to the backline IF i can snipe healers or a DPS. Sadly 90% teammates flame you for "not doing your job" meanwhile, i am soaking up thousands of points of damage, distracting 1-2 people :) Even when focusing more on heals people still bitch when they see your damage orb go out, forgetting that you run out of heals FAST if you aint doing damage.
This is not the DPS moira everyone hates, this moira just straight out 1v3 rendering their dps and support useless. Metal rank TikTok Moira however will just straight out orb at anything they see and just do usless damage to everyone moving. A Moira who only heals is also not a good Moira because their heal comes in bursts and is not sustainable. If you jump around trying to heal everyone, you heal no one. An effective Moira is the one that know when to heal and when to DPS. Moira's potential to punish out of position isolated heroes is insanely high, you just need to have the ability to identify it.
I dont use Moira as a full dps, i like to made dmg and get kills but I always need to do at least the same amount of heal as the dmg or even more and it’s still funny
Moira is that character who will be that selfish. But it is for the greater good for her teammates since she can sustain herself and be aggressive and get kills for the benefit to win.
direct comparison would be mei, moiras beam is double her range. sym is 12 meters. however, moiras beam isnt like any other beams, but chooses targets automatically/assisted the same way many other support skills would do. (think of kiriko healing) most ppl guessed that correctly till a dude named BTC spread misinfo like crazy lol

I feel like there are several opportunities to add melee in for extra damage. For example, a melee just before fading from the Tracer at 5:50 would have finished her with no extra cost.

As a genji main, never dive a moira. This is true from bottom ranks all the way up to top ranks lmao. Even with fade down she can outheal your damage unless you land perfect triple headshots
If the orb is bouncing in an enclosed space it's pretty easy to deflect, and suddenly those 300 HP go to the Genji instead of Moira, that should be kept in mind.
@@mefit8725 Even in that scenario the nature of Moira's tracking beam/self heal vs. Genji's shurikens means she'll still win the 1v1 through sheer self-healing 90% of the time, unless the Genji knows how to be accurate with the line shurikens & chain headshots on her.

The trick is having both down no moira actually flanking will be caught with out 1 or the other the moment u deflect it ill just crouch strafe and self healing will be enuff to get me fade to which I'll fade away get distance the throw the orb behind me where u can't deflect and just win
i think its incredibly fascinating how these #1 ranked players on each character all have such different playstyles compared to other people even in top 500 alongside them. theyre just on such another level that theyve figured out an even MORE optimal playstyle than what 99% of people use. this guy using dps moira in top 500 has me realizing there is absolutely no ceiling in this game, which is fucking wild
I switch between dps moira and traditional support in a match, but the one thing I can't seem to have an answer for are mercy pockets. Specifically when my team doesn't focus the Mercy, Moira needs time to kill and you just can't kill her fast enough before your team dies. The only strat that sometimes works is staggering the enemy team away from the pocket duo, to essentially force my team to engage the 2v4. But I guess you could say that's just a general trick for flankers, it's not all just flanking, it's also divide and conquer essentially.
Kill the other support as fast as you can-> Deny res ->kite tank away ->focus mercy.
I play dps moira on the edge of my team. I'm always ready to heal as soon as my team needs it. But I focus disruption and side flanks.
But i think it's absolutely important that moira is always 1 fade jump from the team to support the other healer.
The best part of this is that player's name translates to "im dps moira i don't give heals"
I know moira doesn’t have much utility compared to other supports, but her immense substain probably is one of her utilities that I find I can abuse on the ladder. Bouncing an healing orb and having good movement/fade usage can allow you to duel and win against most heroes in the game
As a Master ranked Moira main, I believe every Moira should learn this play style. Not to play only this way, but learning it to improve your knowledge and utilization of the character. This will open up many new opportunities to think of and execute when playing.
DPS is an essential role to play as Moira, however knowing the right situations for this role is necessary. Moira’s character is centered around duality. She can heal/save teammates effortlessly with heal orb + spray, another essential for the team. So it’s all about finding the perfect balance between these two play styles. Capatalizing on the versatility will provide the best value as Moira.

DPS healer is becoming always needed in a match, but that doesn't excuse them from healing. I've seen some great moiras, kirkios and baps just utterly dealing tonnes of damage and really squeezing the juice from the other team.
Moira just has a faster fade/disappear which comes in handy for when you are being focused hard.
But simply just being in the right place at the right time, and other than kiriko moira has the ability to be up front and peel back as needed, sometimes she can peel forward and do just fine.
Honestly I play moria and can drop more healing than alot of the supports and more dps than them consistently. The ball rebounds for healing are insane in combination with her M1. You can legit counter loads of ults by just pooping out a ball and holding m1 and get 1k healing in seconds.
If I as a DPS Moira single handedly deal with both the enemy supports Consistently and even their DPS and the rest of my team can’t handle 4v3 team fight and blame it on my lack of healing. Despite the fact they still have 1 support and the enemy team have 0. Consider the fact you may not be as good as you think.
Dps Moira Isn't about getting elims, its about displacing other heroes into not doing their job properly

I saw KarQ analysis on top1 Moira in the US. The reason why they heal so much sometimes is simply because they are minmanxing and trying to get ult charge. Cuz there's nothing else to do in that particular moment.

3:08 - I can’t tell from the seconds prior if the deflect was on cooldown or not, but why didn’t Genji deflect the orb to win the duel?
I can’t help but be a little suspicious as to what kind of lobby this Moira player is in. Immediately before this duel, the Genji lost another duel despite also getting a health pack in the middle of it, and the only reason why the Moira disengaged is the Kiri came to help the Genji. The Genji then used his only movement cooldown to just get to the Moira (without damaging her), clearly was not tracking cooldowns because she had orbits available to keep herself alive and win the duel, and didn’t deflect her healing orb, which would have likely won him the duel.
Maybe he thought his Kiri would teleport to him and help him kill the Moira, but she probably already had to focus on her team, who had been fighting down a man since she and the Genji were both focused on the Moira for a bit.
Its crazy to me that more people dont play like this. Ive been playing moira exactly like this since she came out, and even if you carry your team and win they still hate. Just seeing these comments and reading “omg this is crazy i didnt know” over and over is annoying🤣

This play style will get you hard stuck in silver, gold, plat. This play style works because they are in top 500 and everyone there is super coordinated. I 1 tricked Moira to GM and my advice to get out of bronze-gold with Moira is to focus on healing first. There will be games where DPSing as Moira will be beneficial but there are more games where her healing alone will win you games.

Absolutely false. Pro players and good content creaters say you can get out of the metal ranks easily with Moira. After that, it will be harder to play Moira due to her kits simplicity.
I one tricked Moira to GM in OW1 doing DPS style and it was so easy. I could spawn camp entire plat teams by myself. DPS moira has always been extraordinarily powerful whether the teams are coordinated or not, it just takes good positioning and aggressive usage of combined damage orbs with secondary fire/ult
literraly never went to see moira guide, felt so natural to play like this to me haha im destroying every game with moira , most of the time top damage and top heal, you just need to know what you gonna have to do this game, heal or dps, or hybrid

It kinda requires the team to cooperate, this play style can’t carry the team if they are too defensive. And you will surely be the one to blame.

A bit too much aggression tbh. It's fine to flank and attack the backline, but I expect high ranking players to perfectly switch from aggressive to defensive stance.

we accidentally set it to public before it was ready to ship, so we put it back to private, but when we changed it back to public, the algorithm died x_x so we just chose to reupload.
Why the reupload?
Problem is OW is a team game, so while Moira is on her venture the other teammates are suffering. Theoretically it should be 4 v 3 but if there is a dps diff or a tank diff than that doesn’t matter. Time and a place for everything, I can see someone doing this a few times during the game but not the whole game.
If there's a dps diff I think this playstyle is actually MORE valuable. If your DPS are as good as or better than the enemy, then you can get a lot of value by healing them. If they're worse, then you'll be healing them only to for them to not do much. I think one of the more valuable plays you can make with this playstyle is forcing the Ana to waste her nade on herself, though. Because it's basically a hard counter to Moire if she lands it on your team and you don't have a Kiriko. This can work even if you are mostly healing.
yesterday I got paired with a Mercy who pocketed Moira the whole match

Great video, but superjumping on moira is not when you jump as your exit fade. It is when you fade and jump off of a slanted object or the edge of an object to boost yourself really high.

When I play Moira, I aim to keep my healing above my damage, but I'm not afraid to take duels, eliminate a support, etc. It keeps my healing up and my team doesnt need heeling if nobody is there to damage them! Keeping my team alive is my main goal, but keeping myself alive and getting an elimination when possible its the closest thing Moira has to Utility. You gotta be aggressive but without over extending and neglecting your team. She cant 1v5 the enemy team, so trying to play her exclusively as a Dps and not supporting is a fast way to lose. Especially when she does very low (but consistent) damage.
I believe her main attack does the lowest damage in the game, but it heals her and can be combined with her orbs. Anyone can beat her in a duel if they have good aim and hit their shots.

Unironically this guy has a very good aim (yes OW2 moira needs aim). That's what kinda makes him good. I personally miss a lot of shots on moira (when I try to ADAD strafe well).
I also hate the fact that moira's jump is kinda low. So you can't really take any good high grounds with it. OW1 dps moira was more fun tbh.

with moira people complain that she has no utility, but her utility literally is the ability to poke the back line and try to get a pick and fade away without getting punished whatsoever. I hate moira though and most moira players are not good enough to do this

i honestly didnt know other players play like that too. I do a similar play style im masters on support (but ig im gm on tank too so) but i do the same play style shown here. Oriented on getting picks and applying pressure though not exactly the same and as refined as this player yet its cool to see other players do similar things
i normally play her very similar to this. But i will sit next to my team and then dash to the backline IF i can snipe healers or a DPS.
Sadly 90% teammates flame you for "not doing your job" meanwhile, i am soaking up thousands of points of damage, distracting 1-2 people :)
Even when focusing more on heals people still bitch when they see your damage orb go out, forgetting that you run out of heals FAST if you aint doing damage.
This is not the DPS moira everyone hates, this moira just straight out 1v3 rendering their dps and support useless.
Metal rank TikTok Moira however will just straight out orb at anything they see and just do usless damage to everyone moving.
A Moira who only heals is also not a good Moira because their heal comes in bursts and is not sustainable. If you jump around trying to heal everyone, you heal no one.
An effective Moira is the one that know when to heal and when to DPS. Moira's potential to punish out of position isolated heroes is insanely high, you just need to have the ability to identify it.

I dont use Moira as a full dps, i like to made dmg and get kills but I always need to do at least the same amount of heal as the dmg or even more and it’s still funny
Moira is that character who will be that selfish. But it is for the greater good for her teammates since she can sustain herself and be aggressive and get kills for the benefit to win.
for reference, moiras beam has more or less 2 times symmetras range.
direct comparison would be mei, moiras beam is double her range. sym is 12 meters.
however, moiras beam isnt like any other beams, but chooses targets automatically/assisted the same way many other support skills would do. (think of kiriko healing)
