Just wanted to say that I am a new subscriber - and I can’t get enough of your channel. From your southern “hey y’all” to your intelligent and thoughtful comments, all delivered with such a calm demeanor- I’m hooked! Thank you for your thought provoking, yet obvious love for beauty - much appreciated!
Thank you for your mid-video recognition that in 2022, all makeup is great, but some of it is just not for you. That statement right there is actually so healing for someone like me who over-buys in search of the perfect whatever. I've been having more fun with my own makeup instead of buying new stuff ever since I started watching your videos, so thank you!
My invitation for 2023 is to spend it going through and falling in love with the amazing collection I already have. I fell down the rabbit hole of never having enough and always wanting more, and it’s left me literally and figuratively spent. So I’m excited to go through my treasures to experience the abundance and letting go of the need for more. Thank you, Hannah for lighting the path so beautifully.
You inspired me to rediscover my already owned pat mcgrath palettes. I have been loving them for months now. So while I can’t think of a new product that stood out, those rediscovered palettes have been fun to play with this year.
This revlon pot of cream shadow has done wonders for me this year. It’s this perfect neutral base I’ve loved throwing in the crease and then building out the eye look with other shadows if I choose. It’s creamy, lightweight & the most long lasting and the color, is perfection. I’ll add the name when I rummage through my bag again. I even wore it on my wedding. It’s funny that my favorite is the most non- trending piece of drugstore makeup that’s been out for years, but there we are💗
The lipstick of the year for me was L’avenue by Merit! For me (fair but not The fairest) it’s the best vampy, flattering soft goth look I’ve ever found! I also love it because I bought it on my birthday while shopping with my wife. She rarely cares about what makeup I’m wearing, but she actively loves when I wear this one! The other “best of” for me is the Make skin tint and concealer (wifey stole my concealer so now we own two.) And the foundation color of the year is Kosas 110 peach neutral! It IS the color of my neck. I’ve never purchased it because I wear real foundation like 1x a month but it was just so fun to find something actually sarah-colored!
P.s. I realized you have tried everything that was my favorite, but a new-to-me probable favorite is the Lixr lip balms! I think they are created by the original creator of Bite Beauty and they do seem true to my memory of the OG agave lip mask! They are a true splurge esp with shipping, so I’m also enjoying the Lanolips stick balm (much better than their more liquidy tubes.)
I am 100% in agreement with your blush take away. We are so far beyond generic bubblegum pink and coral shades and they are the opposite of exciting. I think as a community we are so ready for the dirty blushes
I absolutely agree that the “tactical” qualities make such a difference in an enjoyable experience. Knowing how much I appreciate that has allowed me to explore more things in beauty and life that make me feel joyful. So happy to learn how you’ve experienced that too!
Gotta say, I’d have put both the Merit and Gucci lipsticks on my #1 list this year. The Merit Tiger shade is great as a warm nude that’s a bit lighter, and since I’m older, I need lipsticks that are creamy and nourishing without being glossy or too light.
Love love love the Sneaky Balm! It solves my dry skin plus pores problems and compliments my own light olive skin tone. 🫒 Long live Kiki and Salt New York! Thanks so much for another year of inspired makeup content Hannah! All the very best to you and yours in 2023. 🦋🧡🦋
My favorite product that I tried this year is the NYX bare with me serum concealer. The formula is great for my dry skin and the lightest shade actually matches me!
Just ordered moonlit seduction (came with the eye primer stick thing), and it all came to $125. I've never ever bought myself a nice eyeshadow palette... only some cheap (but good quality) drug store ones. I don't think I've ever really done a constructed eye look, but from watching your content on this palette, I really think this mothership is perfect for me! It feels sophisticated, but playful. I think it will encourage me to try some things with my eyes, but also just loosely throw on some of those beautiful ethereal shades! Thanks for all your thought and effort you put into your relationship with beautiful things 💜 I've been tempted by many palettes before, but I knew I wouldn't use them. I'm so excited to own this one!!
Also got a trial of goldie red in a skincare sephora order. I've come so close to buying it off your recommendation because I feel like we have the same appreciation for balance in colors/tones, and I'm so excited to get a trial before deciding if I purchase!!
ABH Rose Metals really won me over, and it makes me feel like Moonlit Seduction would be a little redundant for me, with the exception of VR Sextacy 🤩 Top beauty channel of the year def goes to HLP 💘 your point of view helped me find an unexpected love of makeup after years of never wearing it. Your passion is contagious. Now I get to experience all of this new joy and I hope you know that I’m really grateful for you and this channel!
I think the Odens Eye Christmas palettes were the most exciting product I purchased this year. Figuring out more about my skin tone was also huge for me (still a work in progress, but I think I'm getting closer to finding my perfect foundation). The Rare Beauty and Merit bronzer sticks were amazing purchases. Also finding that I could use those beautiful brownish lipsticks with the right liners (my skin color made it look weird). Overall I think it was a great year in makeup. Quality and colors just so much better across the boards. Great video!
Discovering your channel this year has been such a treat - your videos & approach to makeup as art supplies have really rekindled my love for my own makeup collection, which had gone sorely unused and unappreciated due to the pandemic and some simultaneous gender questioning in the past several years. I so appreciate your thoughtfulness & humor, and I have a great interest in continuing to follow your career 💜
I'm going for the Lisa Eldridge Vega palette & Victoria Beckham liners in Navy Noir & Sea Grey. Between them they've reminded me how much I love grey, silver, and dark blue eye looks, which I haven’t worn for years. Every time I use them (at least 5 times a week) they make me feel like a teenager 😄 Best of all, they were all presents, so I didn't pay for any of them 👍🏻 Apart from that you inspired me to go on a no-buy (with a midyear lipstick allowance), which I stuck to and saved a fortune!!!
Ya, love silvers, muted blues, and low chroma violets (oh, to find a light, greyed out periwinkle!) so I get ya. I bought backups of 2 eyeshadows by clove + hallow that I love, both silvers. One is more mauvy-violet, and the other more blue. My fav adolescent palette was a muted, high latitude coastal-wintery color story; it was a drugstore 4 pan palette which had a white, beige/sand, brown, and blue, split between satins and shimmers. Think I used the palette for my 8th grade school photo. I've looked for anything to dupe those colors, and haven't found them.
@agresticumbra my teenage palette was a 4 pan one in triangles, a bit like the Dior ones, but it definitely wouldn't have been an actual Dior one 😆. Black, dark purple, Slate grey/blue (exactly the colour in the Vega palette) and really bright silver! The purple doubled as a contour and blush (I gather they call it draping now 🤣) That plus tonnes of black liquid eyeliner (pencil liners were so hard I used them as a brow pencil). 😆 I had a Mary Quant makeup book called Quant on Make-up, which opened in the middle and loads of pictures of Siouxsie to copy. And thanks to the Vega palette I now don't feel like I've moved on at all 😆😆
A couple of my 2022 faves are actually two indie brands: Salt NY & Phytosurgence! Thanks to you and Kackie for letting me know about these absolute banger little brands I never would have discovered on my own
Both of these brands have grown mold on some of their products for me. how often do you use yours? Just wondering if it is because I bought them swatched them and have not used the in a couple of month because it was too hot. I just opened them and they were crusty on top of my molten skin spark and the yellow skin tint from salt New York. Any info is helpful
@@almostacrone8046 I use mine all the time and definitely haven’t had any mold problems. Some of my salt NY pans I’ve had almost a year and they’re still going strong. I’m diligent about making sure my hands are sanitized before I put fingers in my makeup though and my house is not very humid
Great video! I love that you didn't feel the need to talk about a product on every single category. It gives the video an interesting twist and definitely allows each individual product to shine even more. My favorite product I tried this year is the YSL NU Balm primer. The texture of the product is unlike anything I have ever used. I love my sample so much I want to purchase the full size as soon as my no buy is over.
Agree so much re palette color stories. I have a very meh looking TheBalm palette that leads me to beautiful, polished, flattering eye looks that give me brightness, definition, and last all day. But I still forget to use it because I don't crave the aesthetic of the 8 shadows all together... I would put my tarte and ofra palettes in that category too, but I'm getting better about using them! The ofra palette looks flattering no matter how you mix it - the variations aren't super distinct but having these perfect face mud shades is such a confidence boost.
Your channel has been such a discovery this year for me - it has made me look at the makeup that I used in another way and to appreciate it in a new and much deeper way. Also, I've become much more conscious (eventhough I've already been, I'm a virgo after all) about what I buy and consume. Thank you so much for that! Wishing you all the best in the new year ahead and I hope you keep making videos about the things you love (be it makeup, fashion, home decor...) - you're a delight to watch and listen to! 😄🥰
@@HannahLouisePoston I agree with Annie wholeheartedly! I've been watching other influencers and their year-end videos, and many of them are saying hey, let me know what you'd like me to do differently in 2023. And in every case, I think to myself, you need to be watching Hannah and how she speaks about makeup; about how we consume makeup and how we need to be more thoughtful. And just wanted to share that I'm finding your take on things quite unique, very refreshing, and much needed.
I didn’t buy much makeup this year except mascara, but I could not resist the Rituel de Fille kohl eye liner in Iron. I have it in black too, but I’m redhead with green eyes, and the Iron is the perfect color, gives me the perfect smudge, matches all my eyeshadow. I love it so much, I’ve gone back to wearing eyeliner every time I do my makeup. Love getting back into your channel, I strayed away over the summer, but I did miss listening to you talk.
I mix the other kiko colour corrector which is a primer with my illuminator and foundation and the purito bb cream with i see as a mixer to make my foundation shade more gray-green and it works wonders. Sometimes i also use the kiko on its own as well. It's not a pore filling foundation, it just helps with the redness to make the base for the foundation more even. The one you tried i don't like either!
Would really love to hear about best primer, eyeliner, and best single shadow. Maybe even eyebrow too? Oo and skincare! As for me the best I tried this year was bésame lipsticks in cherry red and dusty rose. I am definitely loving bullet lipsticks rather than liquid lipsticks in 2022, I’m tired of dried out lips! I also loved my single shadows that I got from JdGlow, terra moons, and Clionadh. A one and done eye look has become my favorite thing to do this year and single shadows have changed the game!
I’ve been very impressed with about face this year. It started with a blush order where I got a free gift of their highlighters-which are an underrated product. Then I tried their matte liquid shadow and liners. I’ve been very impressed with all of it.
Ooh! I haven’t seen you review this product and I was dubious about how I would get along with it but OH MAN have I used the heck out of it. This year my gold medal goes to the Sydney Grace cream shadows, especially in the shades Babe and Black Hole. So many morning I don’t have time to create an “eye look” and I’ll grab one of these and it takes me less than 20 seconds to throw one of these on and I feel amazing almost all day. Also, Hannah, I am so grateful for your presence here. You have filled me up with joy for years and I think you’re amazing. 🖤
Hands down, my favorite product that I tried this year is the Sephora Best Skin Ever foundation. I have literally tried 20+ foundations/concealers (I lost count at 17) over the last year or two to figure out what to use on my wedding day. I don’t know what my deal is, but I really didn’t like anything. But when I tried the Best Skin Ever foundation, I did a double-take. It just blends out so easily and doesn’t emphasize my pores or any skin texture. They don’t have a shade that matches me exactly, but it’s affordable enough that I could get two shades to mix together. I’m so relieved that I found it and I can finally stop my search for complexion products 😆 I also got alllll the feels with the ColourPop Aurora Struck palette. I’m not a big fan of palettes in general, and I know there are quite a few shades that I won’t use. But I love the color story so much. Beyond words. I wanted it just to look at it. And there are quite a few shades I will use, so I went ahead and bought it, and I regret nothing.
Wow, Hannah! Your channel has shot up (and rightfully so)! Huge congratulations- you deserve the growth and much more. Just wanted to acknowledge your hard work- and I think others are acknowledging it too! Hope you had a Happy Holiday time! ❤
Honestly, the discovery of the year for me is probably the nyx brow pen. I use it every day. I absolutely adore it. It isn’t remotely exciting but it is a perfect execution of a daily driver product for me and it isn’t terribly expensive.
I've been obsessed with phytosurgence condensate since I got it about 6 weeks ago. It's got such a dip in it already. So validating to see it in HLP's best of the year 😁
I'm gonna say it on this video, but your declutter videos (and all your videos really) have really helped me with my impulsive spending. I've always had a problem with spending money and either buying something I don't need or getting buyer's remorse because I bought something and now something that I really want is available and I no longer have the funds. I've gotten better at resisting because I always ask myself, "is this precious to me?" I now find it easier to say no to buying something but I can think about how I feel about it and decide that it's not something that I treasure. I still scroll through clothes and stuff, but I can now put them in my cart and wait on it, and most of the time I don't buy anything because it's not precious to me. So thank you! I love your channel because you aren't like most beauty influencers that buy every new product which contributes to everyone wanted to run and get whatever is trending. It's a really nice change of pace, and it helps me stay grounded when I see other people not giving into the rush because I don't feel like I'm being left out as much.
Merit lipsticks, Phytosurgence blushes, Clionadh eyeshadows... I found all of these products thanks to your super detailed reviews and videos, and they were wonderful discoveries! You just have impeccable taste 👌 👌 👌
Loved this video!! I really liked the bionic line by milk makeup this year. The colors look boring but they are sooo flattering (on my skin). I find your minimal take on makeup really refreshing, you inspired me to declutter my own collection and I love it so much more now!!
This year's best have for sure been the Danessa Myricks Light Work Vol. III and IV palettes (I know three came out last winter, but I was late to acquire it). I favoured quality over quantity with my makeup purchases this year, and these two extraordinary palettes make me so glad I took that approach.
I tried Terra Moons for the first time this summer and have been using the 6 shadows I got from them every single week, if not multiple days in a week. I packed a 12 pan palette of singles and the Persona Identity palette for a 3 week trip and 6 of the singles are the new ones I got. :)
Love this eyeshadow look! It kind of reminds me of the teal + burgundy look you did in a "pretend to shop at sephora" video, but more neutral/wearable. I hope there's a tutorial coming down the pipeline, if not you totally should!
I very rarely comment videos but i just wanted to say that I truly apreciate your disclaimers and explanations each time you think (and for good reasons in my opinion) a video could push us to spend our money on things we wouldn't have really good use of, or already have dupes of, etc. I know part of the money, views, products, etc, that an influencer has, is part of because we as viewers would buy things because of the content the influencer is sharing. But I think you are so much more than an influencer, you are a true content creator, because you try not to push us to not buy too much (I mean except for the people that maybe have tons of money or doesn't care to buy too much). And I think that's so refreshing and kind of you. So I'd like to thank you for that.
I got my first makeup by Mario palette! I bought myself the ethereal eyes. I ignored all the bad reviews and went for it, I am so glad that I did. The looks I have gotten with it are beautiful and wearable for either holiday dinners or every day. I also bought the Natasha Denona my dream palette and the blush palette. I'm very happy with the shadows! The highlights are gorgeous. But the "cream" blush was a let down because it's a powder. Those were my only 3 makeup splurges this year and only one thing let me down so I'm pretty happy.
An older Lippies video of yours got me to buy Revlon's The Gloss in Blissed Out. It's been amazing! Nourishing, never sticky, and the perfect shade. I bought one for my Mom for Christmas!
Byredo Kalahari palette was my personal favorite and most used product of the year, despite a similar reaction to you around the color story when looking at it. I love using it and the looks I can get from it as well as the quality of the shadows and how some of them stick to the lid. It's still available in some retail shops if you ever want to try it. I also love Phytosurgence Condensate. I've loved dirty blushes for a long time and hope we get more future grunge!
Loved how you aproach to beauty, mind and humans beings . I just subscribed to your channel. So glad I found you. Feel very close to your way of thinking. I will see many of your videos now. Send you a hug from Chile 🇨🇱.
My top makeup discovery is Pat McGrath eyeshadows 😂 I had no idea I would fall in love with them, and I do feel they are so exquisite to use and play with, they are my favorite makeup items ever right now.
It’s silly and inexpensive but my favorite piece of makeup I bought in 2022 is the Lorac Mystic Oak palette. It’s so itty bitty but packs a punch. I love it!
For me my best tries were the haus labs foundation and the Gemini pallet from melt. My worst is probably the ilia concealer. It’s just too thick for the foundation and just not my preference. It;s most certainly practical, but it also has an odd smell since purchase. I’ll work through it and select something different next time. Really applying the fewer nicer things and one in one out rule as best i can this year and moving into next year. The literal amount of money saved just in the past few months-blows my mind! I wasn’t a super big makeup spender, but those little Walmart pick ups of something here and there really did add up!!
Enjoyed hearing your very well articulated thoughts on your favorites this year! My favorites have served me so well this year, through a lot of skin issues - Dior forever skin correct is the only concealer that actually looks good while on isotretinoin, RMS hydra powder blush in Hanky Panky, Maybelline sky high mascara and Fitglow lipliners in Buff and Nude
Something I used whole 2022 is a concealer mixed with bb cream. I unfortunately bought a too light concealer and my bb was too dark, so I started mixing the two. Best decision of my life. I will never buy foundation again. It's just sooo skin-like but also high coverage! My mix of 'choice' is Dior Forever skin correct + Erborian bb creme.
Just bought a set of Prados brushes, and they are blowing me away. 🤩 I don't have any very premium or luxury brushes to compare to, but I have more expensive brushes that just can't compete.
Hi Hannah! Love your picks!! For me the two standout items are the Armani luminous silk foundation and concealer. Finally am shade matched!! I am also a fair to light olive undertone!! The best mascara so far this year that I've tried is the Dior backstage pump n volume (besides the Chantecaille one).
All right girl I’m starting my no buy year tomorrow. It’s actually going to be a low buy because a situation change happening this summer so I’ve given myself a little list of clothes I may need. But overall I’m really excited and nervous to learn some of the deep reasons I’m overspending. Thanks for the inspiration. I love listening to you your language and you message. 💕
I always love these kinds of videos ❤ will you be reviewing the Lisa Eldridge eyeshadows? I feel like you mentioned them at some point but I don’t remember whether you said you’d review them. Would love to hear what you think of them.
Primer, concealer, powder, liner, highlighter? I know I know, they are in your declutters. Thank you for details of why each one is so special and useful, your videos are giving
The Hela palette from Oden's eye and Angie. I was surprised myself because I always consider if I'm wearing every color and my style resembles more yours, probably got sold because of the concept. However, I do wear it all over my face! I correct my foundation, contour, blush, color my lips and even shadow my brows with it.
You inspired me to try illuminating products under makeup this year and I am obsessed! I have been using the colorscience glow sunscreen on the high points of my face and it has been a total game changer. I would love to see you try this brand. They mainly stay in the skincare lane, but their cosmetics have spf and work great on sensitive skin. They also have a very fancy color-correcting product that might be up your alley.
Great video as usual Hannah! My favorite things I tried this year were the Haus Labs highlighters (especially the shade Peach Quartz) and the Oden's Eye and Angelica Hela palette!
I'm a new subscriber too, and I love your looks! The turn on to Merit's lippie is just serendipity; I've been looking for a balm-type color that leans brown, not red or (ghastly) pink. Thanks!
You are my greatest inspiration at the moment and I just LOVE your channel! New makeup that’s been my shiniest star (pun intended) is without a doubt the Swedish brand Glossgods’ palettes. I think you would really appreciate the smoke and mirrors + the new neutrals remixed. The formula is HEAVEN and the brand is owned by an amazing woman who is a true supporter of the artistry in the Swedish makeup community, and it’s cruelty free!❤ I LOVE this brand.
The most exciting makeup for me this year has been the Tower28 mascara, the Make Beauty concealer, and the Make Beauty Heat Stroke gel blush in Baked. I know you don't love gel blushes, but this one actually has staying power and isn't tacky and is the perfect browny-rose on my also very pale neutral skin, so I'd love to see you try it! But honestly, I'd watch you review cheese, so looking forward to seeing your content in the new year 🤗
HLP, do you still reach for your SNY old gum custom blend? Just so you know, I've started to work on a green corrector shade using SNY, and as usual, gotta go sparingly with the blue. Gonna pick up more colors (black in particular) so fine tuning is easier. With that next order, I'm gonna see if they have any spare empty pans so I can use that for the green corrector, and if sent more, at least one version of the old gum, perhaps adding a bit of highlighter in one version, just to see how it translates. Gotta confess that I'm now relieved I didn't get phytosurgence condensate because I've since watched its application on others, and know it'll look too pink on me. Not surprised by your favs, so hearing your least favs was what I was most intrigued by. A couple of them I don't even remember you mentioning before. Here's to a lovely 2023 for you, and all who read this far.
You turned me onto pPytosurgence Condensate, and it's so good. My best/favorite new to me thing this year was Lethal eyeshadows. Specifically Recluse, Mycelium and Biome. Hope you, Joe and Sadie have had a lovely holiday season and enjoy the New Year!
My products of the year were the Merit lipsticks and Salt NY cheek products. I purchased the Merit lipsticks per your recommendation and they caused me to declutter all of my color lip products with the exception of the Tower 28 and Merit glosses. And I mean ALL. I had a lot and they weren’t getting use because I loved this formula and the tones THAT much.
my best makeup discovery: purple mascara 🙌 i have olive undertones and love purple eye looks, i realized i might as well try it on my lashes too and love the results! its always a good conversation starter too, people love it and it helps my superiority complex feel special that im not just wearing black mascara like everyone else… hahaha
I tried the makeup revolution conceal & define full coverage concealer in C1 this year and loved it. I finished up the tube completely I liked it that much. It reminds me of the kosas revealer but less thick and I like it more than the kosas. Also, the recent makeup by Mario skin enhancer cream bronzer in shade 2 was a big hit with me in summer 2022. A bit too warm for my liking in the winter, but I love that it is sheer and buildable.
Hannah's Best Description of Color in 2022: OLD GUM! My FAVORITE pieces of makeup I acquired in 2022 have been from Phytosurgence. Will I wear Spectral Shine in Divine Daylight all over my face? YEP. I have four of the blush creams, and Condensate is tops among them. Chilled Cherry is my favorite single eyeshadow, hands down. Edging out Salt NY Sneaky Balm in the complexion category is Merit's Complexion Stick. It's got a bit more coverage (I think) than Sneaky Balm, and, again, ease of use comes into consideration. I just swipe the stick on where I need, blend with my fingers, and done. Somehow I got a banger of a match without even testing swatches. And Merit's L'Avenue Signature Lip has been getting a whole lot of play as well for all the formula qualities you mentioned. Although I did go bananas and buy a Lisa Eldridge eyeshadow palette, I'm very grateful to you for keeping my makeup acquisitions in a (mostly) healthier balance this year!
Great video, love having you on while I do various things in the house - currently a makeup declutter and reorganisation (!!). I think my most shocking discovery this year has probably been ...Tom Ford's Nude Dip palette. I'd previously thought it's just about the most boring thing I've ever seen in my life, but I took a chance on it recently as I found it discounted online and OMG... It's the most polished my eyes have possibly ever looked... Aaaand it performs like a dream too. (Neutrals? Soft tones? Who even am I)
Nabla skin glass products and the smashbox contour trio are my newly discovered favorites. The bronzer is great for me, and I often find myself using the powders on my eye either as a transition or to powder my under eyes or highlight my brow bone. I also am really enjoying the Juvia's Place blush duos, too. I'm still going with powder. I can turn lipstick into blush if I want cream. Strong standing old favorite: Sigma's eyeshadow formula. I would love to see a comprehensive review of eyeshadow primers. I used to love Too Faced's eye primer, but they got rid of the glitter glue and changed the regular primer to be an all-in-one 1. It's too sticky now. Now, I struggle to find a non sticky primer that just helps things blend more elegantly and reduce creasing.
Besides salt NY sneaky balm in N13, my fav products of the year were surprisingly from some tinktonker beauty brand. Definitely did not expect it. Item beauty mascara, lip quip lip oil, & brow pencils, air hug concealer & the "in my element" eyeshadow palette were all a hit. It absolutely bowled me over. I want to try their cream blush & their bronzer contour duos but I don't really bronze or contour much & I have so much blush already.
Thank you for your inspiration ❤️ also I have always said I have 'green' or 'olive' skin. I have searched years for a color match, either too light or too orange/pink. In walks kbeauty Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream! #21 & #23, both gray and void of pink/orange! They have recently expanded color range as well!
I love this take on a favorites video. I was trying to think of what my favorite thing from 2022 was and I kept picking things from 2021. 😆 I found a lot of things that I like but nothing on the level of favorite favorite. When I got down to it though, thing I’m most excited about are the matte eye paints from About Face. They’re beautiful
For me, the greatest discovery and a splurge this year was By Terry Brightening CC Palette in Sunny Flash. I use it daily. Now I have my eyes on HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING EDIT UNLOCKED - BUTTERFLY. We’ll see if I decide to buy it.
I didn't try much new make-up this year since I was on a replacements-only no-buy (inspired by your no-buy year 2018) but I happened to find the perfect nude lipstick for me - it's the Ulta brand cream lipstick in Dusty Mauve. Not too light, too orange, or too pink and it's definitely saturated enough to define my lips without looking like I'm wearing a color. And the price is right at $10
Hit Hannah. I really enjoy how curated this best/worst was-- even though I wouldn't be buying anything, because you have inspired me to do a at least 6 month no buy starting in January. I just wanted to stop in a say that. I have rules written out and everything. Though, I do have the Kosas powder and I also adore it. My favorite discovery was the Tower 28 tinted sunscreen, because the shade 20 is my exact skin tone. It's the first foundation-like product I've ever tried that been that close of a match and just makes my life so much easier. I was going to ask if you tried it, because my skin is also a yellow-olive (but light-medium) and almost every foundation is orange on me, but the lightest shade says it has a pink undertone (not neutral), so I don't think it would work for you. Its okay though, because (thanks to samples) I know that RMS foundation formula is amazing, but they totally skipped my skin tone.
I don't know if you have tried Sydney Grace I tried for the first time and I love it! Single magnetic shadows and palettes are wonderful! The lip cream glass is perfect. I also tried Make Up Geek for the first time and I'm sorry I came to Olathe. They are still selling inventory at a discount get foggy with it shade has been my repurchase, I just bought Merit in Baby. Going to watch your o buy videos this week! Happy New Year!
Hanna I would love to see your take on a makeup theme/tag, I have seen around quite a bit on beauty youtube: where if you were to loose all your beauty products and you had to replace them; what products would you repurchase immediately? I think your take on this would be very interesting. I could probably guess a few things you would repurchase but I think I would be surprised as well. As always, I enjoyed this video...thank you for sharing
So true what you just said about eyeshaodw pans vs how they look on the eyes, and so true that it is very logical indeed and I tend to forget it whenever I buy a palette :;)
I LOVE THIS! You are my primary source for the most unbiased opinions on makeup, Hannah, and I thank you for it. I'd like to add something about Pat McGrath: I finally took the leap based on your reviews and constant use of the Motherships. HOWEVER, their return/replacement/standing behind their productness is terrible. My package arrived via UPS looking like it had been mauled open by a bear and then retaped by monkeys. One of the shadows had been shattered in the trauma. It's been two weeks, and they still haven't even responded to my email. I'd like to know if anyone else here has had this experience, and did they eventually answer you? It's a $130 palette, for gosh sakes!
Exact same here! 😊
Ah, I wish I was finding Hannah again for the first time! 😘
Welcome! I discovered her channel during her no buy year (my low buy year) and have been a friend ever since ❤❤❤
thank you so much, Ranea!
Heck yeah!
I love end of the year best/worst, they are usually the most honest reviews because of hindsight and time passing. Excited to watch this!
ABH Rose Metals really won me over, and it makes me feel like Moonlit Seduction would be a little redundant for me, with the exception of VR Sextacy 🤩
Top beauty channel of the year def goes to HLP 💘 your point of view helped me find an unexpected love of makeup after years of never wearing it.
We miss your videos, Hannah!
Hope you're doing great 😍
Discovering your channel this year has been such a treat - your videos & approach to makeup as art supplies have really rekindled my love for my own makeup collection, which had gone sorely unused and unappreciated due to the pandemic and some simultaneous gender questioning in the past several years. I so appreciate your thoughtfulness & humor, and I have a great interest in continuing to follow your career 💜
Thank you so much, Sofie!
The ofra palette looks flattering no matter how you mix it - the variations aren't super distinct but having these perfect face mud shades is such a confidence boost.
i feel like everyone either wants the cool toned pink bright blush cheek a la dior blush, or brown dirty grungey cheeks. love the contrasting vibes!!
Thank you so much, Annie!
@@HannahLouisePoston You're welcome ☺️
I didn’t buy much makeup this year except mascara, but I could not resist the Rituel de Fille kohl eye liner in Iron. I have it in black too, but I’m redhead with green eyes, and the Iron is the perfect color, gives me the perfect smudge, matches all my eyeshadow. I love it so much, I’ve gone back to wearing eyeliner every time I do my makeup. Love getting back into your channel, I strayed away over the summer, but I did miss listening to you talk.
I didn't purchase any new makeup this year but i rediscovered my love for the Coloured Reign eyeshadows. So gorgeous!
YOUR CHANNEL is my favorite makeup discovery of 2022 🎉
sick at home with covid right now and this video immediately put a smile on my face and warmed my heart. thank you for being you. much love
Top makeup discoveries for me are Clionadh shadows and Pgytosurgence blushes.
I’m so relieved that I found it and I can finally stop my search for complexion products 😆
I also got alllll the feels with the ColourPop Aurora Struck palette.
I read that as “hair work” and it worked just as well 😂😂😂❤
Honestly, the discovery of the year for me is probably the nyx brow pen.
A poetry reading and a “Ted” beauty talk. HLP, I could listen to you all day!
I’m loving the new thumbnails of B&W with specific pops of color! 😍
Love this eyeshadow look! It kind of reminds me of the teal + burgundy look you did in a "pretend to shop at sephora" video, but more neutral/wearable. I hope there's a tutorial coming down the pipeline, if not you totally should!
I'm really into this eye look as well! I was searching the comments for details 👀
So I'd like to thank you for that.
thank you so much, Léa!
"Why not take a wild chance? Why not do a wild dance?"
❤ this video and your POV. I tried the bronzer, blush and eye liner from Make Beauty this year and I’m hooked.
Could you share your shade please? 🤭
@@adaritaa 3.5 in the foundation and 4.75 in the concealer
All right girl I’m starting my no buy year tomorrow. It’s actually going to be a low buy because a situation change happening this summer so I’ve given myself a little list of clothes I may need. But overall I’m really excited and nervous to learn some of the deep reasons I’m overspending. Thanks for the inspiration. I love listening to you your language and you message. 💕
I always love these kinds of videos ❤ will you be reviewing the Lisa Eldridge eyeshadows? I feel like you mentioned them at some point but I don’t remember whether you said you’d review them. Would love to hear what you think of them.
Abh nouveau was my favourite from this year but I also super loved the em cosmetics heavens glow blush in baroque
I got Moonlit Seduction for Christmas and it's everything you promised and more. I have another Mothership palettes but this one is just perfection.
I agree shade is so important- I got the merit lipstick in baby and hate both the shade and formula :(
I'm a new subscriber too, and I love your looks!
Would love it if you could do a review of the Ourself lip plumper & maybe some of their other products!!
My favorite new to me product this year is Suntegrity Impeccable Skin. Love, love, love it. 💕🐛🦋
I don’t know why but I feel you are in a transitional space in some way and I’m looking forward to your content this upcoming year ♥️
I’m loving the Bobbi Brown Face Base, works as a primer, a moisturizer and a little goes a long way
You turned me onto pPytosurgence Condensate, and it's so good. My best/favorite new to me thing this year was Lethal eyeshadows. Specifically Recluse, Mycelium and Biome. Hope you, Joe and Sadie have had a lovely holiday season and enjoy the New Year!
Happy New Year Hannah! Thank you for your intellectual approach to beauty and caring for ourselves!
Love your channel!
Salt NY has been my favorite discovery of the year. I love the whole line and it’s my go to for every day
My products of the year were the Merit lipsticks and Salt NY cheek products. I purchased the Merit lipsticks per your recommendation and they caused me to declutter all of my color lip products with the exception of the Tower 28 and Merit glosses. And I mean ALL. I had a lot and they weren’t getting use because I loved this formula and the tones THAT much.
Omg FINALLY I have found someone with my skin tone. Holy crap. Pale olive, super desaturated. I’m so happy I found you 😭😭
my best makeup discovery: purple mascara 🙌 i have olive undertones and love purple eye looks, i realized i might as well try it on my lashes too and love the results! its always a good conversation starter too, people love it and it helps my superiority complex feel special that im not just wearing black mascara like everyone else… hahaha
Lisa Eldridge meet me in Berlin and velvet sorcery blew me away this year
Besides salt NY sneaky balm in N13, my fav products of the year were surprisingly from some tinktonker beauty brand.
They were on sale the past while on Sephora & def caught my eye so v interesting to hear, esp with the price point! Thx!
Monika Blunder balm foundation.. you inspired me and 2.25 is my perfect match and I love it.. sheered wayyyy out, or full. Amazing.
i've been desperately searching for a browny blush so i hope brands take your advice
So thoughtful. Happy New Year, Hannah! 🎉
Hanna I would love to see your take on a makeup theme/tag, I have seen around quite a bit on beauty youtube:
where if you were to loose all your beauty products and you had to replace them; what products would you repurchase immediately?
I think your take on this would be very interesting.
I could probably guess a few things you would repurchase but I think I would be surprised as well.
As always, I enjoyed this video...thank you for sharing
So true what you just said about eyeshaodw pans vs how they look on the eyes, and so true that it is very logical indeed and I tend to forget it whenever I buy a palette :;)
Can you also do a best of for skincare?! Pretty please?!
