The red mayonnaise you were talking about is called kokteilsósa. It is super simple to make at home and tastes amazing! All it is is you mix ketchup and mayonnaise together. Put mayonnaise in a bowl and then add ketchup and the just blend it together. (Use more mayonnaise than ketchup) The more ketchup you use the more kind of stinging taste you get, a stronger taste. I personally use just a tiny amount more of mayonnaise than ketchup, maybe like a spoon or so. Hope this helps to make your very own kokteilsósu and enjoy it with every meal!
Great advice! We were in Iceland in September. The fish is fantastic! Another general note is that going out to eat is VERY expensive...even just like a pizzeria ran the two of us up $50 canadian with one beer, coke and couple slices of pizza. We grocery shopped at Bonus and ate 60-70% of the time from those, and allowed ourselves one meal out a day. Also the coffee..very expensive - for the equivalent of a small here it was approx.$5-7 canadian.
Went in mar 2017. tasted the ginger soda at an Indian restaurant which I enjoyed. also had a seafood bisque. I might be crazy but once I stepped out of the airport I noticed how fresh and clean the air smelled. Great country for my first trip abroad.
This makes me miss Iceland so much. I spent a week there about 3 years ago and I also spent 2 months living in Stockholm, 1 month in Copenhagen, and a week in Tromsø, Norway. Scandinavia and the entire Nordic region have been calling for me since I first started teaching myself about Iceland in high school. I think I mat move there permanently one day.

I have a friend who is a famous cookbook author and she told us about using dried fish kind of like bread when she was young. One of the common snacks in Iceland is buttered dried fish. It sounds awful but I absolutely loved it and would usually make that as a snack at the end of the day. But then I also didn't mind hakkarl, so maybe I'm just weird.
People have to try kjötsúpa (meat soup) It is with lamb, various of vegitables, herbs and more it is really nice. Myself is from Iceland but I have never tried brennivín and most people that I know dont like it. The sauce you are talking about is named kokteilsósa and the basic ingridients are ketchup and mayonnice. We eat it with every thing specially french fries :)
Icelandic lobster is so good .... not rubbery like maine. They usually give you small lobster tails. They are so tender. I don’t know if it is just because they can catch smaller lobsters???? They seem to be able to catch endangered things.
You are mu super tourist guide! like to listen your countries food....will i see you in restaurants, hotels, and like that outside everytime I going to on my hollidays. Here also i order french fries, ice creams, some burgers....
I tried Arctic char for the first time at a Bonefish Grill a few years ago. It was SO good! Unfortunately, it is only sold when it is in season. I'd imagine it is more widely available in Iceland. With that said... I WANT TO VISIT!!!
Yeah in Germany quark is cheaper to be quite honest I get a a large part of my proteinintake (60% some days) from magerquark greek yoghurt is popular among US based Athleates and Body Builders and I'm sure there are a lot of tasty milk based products ive never heard of.

Wow. I Iike that backdrop. Do people swim in that water with the icebergs? I'm from the West Indies so it looks like a very interesting beach to try out.
Heh, I saw that they had a bunch of Subway sandwich shops, i will probably just eat there every day and I am sure it will be less than $50/6 inch, maybe $40.
I heard you mentioned you stayed in a guest cabin? How did you find it and book it? VRBO? AirBNB? If this info is in one of your videos, let me know. :) Thanks

It's really is good. Found out it is great with whiskey. I recommend orka with gin. Redbull and vodka has nothing on orka and gin... well besides the taste.
what about travelling from the capital to lagoon and iceberg etcc without a car? I live in London want to go there with my 12 yo son but no driving licence.
We were hiking in the middle of nowhere in Sweden and we met some Finnish people. They started a conversation about the weather from 100 meters away. So far we had to yell. There's quite a bit of drinking. I think you're just better behaved than many. It's expensive, but people drink. The food is so good there! Had the best hamburg of my life there. Hello Mark, I was wondering which Nordic country you would recommend for two senior college students to go visit. Things to account for would be night life, price, but of course also the gorgeous views. Thanks
I'm not Mark, but I live in Sweden and I've been in all Nordic countries. I'd say Norway is the best place if you have the money. Although not as beautiful as Norway, there are a lot of nice places. My favourite place to visit while in Denmark is definitely "hvide sande". The Finnish people are very bad at English, because they also get taught Swedish in school, which means less time to learn English properly. If you like Hiking, you can travel to Rjukan and climb Gaustatoppen which takes about 3-4 hours to climb. For nightlife and cheaper living, go to Denmark. Although not as beautiful as Norway, there are a lot of nice places. My favourite place to visit while in Denmark is definitely "hvide sande". (translates to White Sand) I have a hard time explaining how it looks, but you can just google it. Alcohol is much much much cheaper in Denmark as well, the Swedish and Norwegian government controls the Alcohol in their countries and drive up the prices. Denmark doesn't do that.
Sweden is meh. As I said before, government controlled alcohol (it's not unheard of to pay around 8 dollars for one glass of beer at the pub), everything costs a bit more than Denmark, the views aren't really amazing unless you travel to the far North. Great country to live in, maybe not so fun to visit.
Finland is also a very lovely country, but I would not advice anyone from the US to go there unless you know Finnish. The Finnish people are very bad at English, because they also get taught Swedish in school, which means less time to learn English properly. My Father is Finnish, so he dealt with all the talking when I visited. Finding someone who spoke proper English was impossible.
