The last act was so emotion driven and the action was top of the line! Really gotta give it to Ufotable with being able to take a manga arc and turning it into a record-breaking gorgeous looking film. Awesome review Chris, definitely would've loved a few more Nezuko moments but the fantasy moment of her and Tanjiro really hit the feels

@@jantheking7028 Yeah, this is typically how I felt reading the manga. 1st season is nice, but from the train arc and beyond the series began to make me a fan, and I think that's partly due to us getting more interactions with the Hashira and Upper Rank demons, they absolutely carry the series imo and I cant wait to see how it's animated

I don't think you're supposed to agree with Inosuke there. I mean, Tanjiro's friend and role model just got brutally murdered by a coward right in front of him. I think it's permissible for him to cry.
Not only that, Inosuke is crying too. I think the scene is to show you that it is okay to cry, especially because it shows Tanjiro and Inosuke sobbing when they're both very stoic characters.

I've got a pretty unique perspective as I actually haven't scene even a single scene of the series itself. My gf is actually a huge fan and so the trip to the theatre was made for her. That being said, the movie definitely relies on your previous knowledge of the show. There's not a whole lot in the way of character introductions but even without them, the characters are unique enough that you get a feel pretty fast. The same can be said for how the rules within the universe work. Even without any previous knowledge of the show I was still able to enjoy the movie. As Chris said the action and animation is top notch, and the visuals alone were enough to keep me entertained, but the story itself is also really interesting, and the characters are done so well it shows why this anime is so popular. Rengoku is an instant favorite of mine. As a whole, the experience was way more enjoyable for me than it had any right to be. They definitely didn't pull any stops for this movie.

Same here, I’ve only ever seen episode one and my friends dragged me to watch the movie in theaters. I got the general gist of what was going on, though my friends did have different reactions when different characters popped on screen, while I just sat and wondered who they were. Great movie overall, definitely sad and gruesome at some points but I like that in movies anyways.

SPOILERS SPOILERS (about the movie, I haven't read the manga)
As you know Muzan gave Enmu the mission to kill Tanjiro and Rengoku, as a last chance because as he said all lower moons were very weak and a failure before killing them all. Demons, as it's mentioned in the series, have Muzan's cells/blood and that's how he knows where they are and what they are doing. When Enmu dies, Muzan knows it as he knew that Rui was killed, so another demon is sent, this time an upper moon, to do the job. This is what I got out of this since Akaza tried to kill Tanjiro first. Since he got away I guess we'll see how he interacts with Muzan in S2
