Whenever one of your episodes posts here its always my first thing to watch. You seem like one of the most genuine people out there. I can't help but like you and I don't even know you.
I used to live in France and did this type of cooking in my 2 acre garden, now, after a stroke and back in Suffolk, I have a Weber and cast iron pot. love the friendship with Maggie you have . I got a leg of lamb today. so thanks for the inspiration sir. great post. and Thank you in October 2023 from a royal navy veteran in Suffolk, England.xx
I love how Maggie first got on her blanket. She just took up half of it like she was saving a spot to share with you! I’ve never tasted lamb before! I’m sure it was yummy! I was so ‘in to’ the vid while the pot was cooking I felt the smoke in my eyes. 😂 Well done! ❤️❤️
For my taste, and I think a lot of others, this is how one goes about enjoying the spirit of the outdoors. Simple, satisfying and not overly complicated. Gives you time to actually bask in the wonderful beauty that nature has to offer. You, my friend, have found the key. Well done mate.
Always love a guest appearance by Maggie in your adventures! Thank you for sharing these special times you spend with her with all of us Simon. Maybe that aircraft could be piloted by a guy named Richard out on a reckie? 😉😂
Thank you Simon! Happy Easter to you & your family. Of course Maggie too!!! Looking forward to a future episode featuring Tom & his culinary skills in the woods.
We eat a great deal of beef in New England. The only time I had lamb was years ago on a canoe trip and a friend trained as a chef cooked a butterflied leg of lamb over the campfire. Tasted amazing!
It's so good to see Maggie again. She is so like our Maggie we lost a while back. She was a long haired, black dog that loved nothing more than to lie down in the dirt and just be a dog.
I only had my dinner about an hour ago and was completely stuffed... after watching this I'm strangely hungry again! I'm going to have to try this with my Dutch oven soon. Great video! 👍
I’m loving it… But…. You are not allowed to do cooking the roast without the amazing son making it all come together… he’s the real guru … bring back the family stop overs…. Love your vids… long may they last….😀👍
Great video Simon. The sounds of the coming spring are wonderful in the background. You are going to get a jaw condition eating all that lamb. Cheers to you and Maggie.
Another great video with Maggie as the star if the show today . However that lamb looked delish ...Anything cooked over a camp fire is much better than in the kitchen .Happy Easter to "all the in the woods " family.
Great video as always And love all the birds in the back ground Thankyou Simon Keep the great video's coming And enjoy your Easter break with the family
Seems like everyone is cooking lamb this year for Easter. You are definitely spot on in saying that anything cooked over an open fire tastes good. Nice touch in finishing the whole meal off with a Cadbury Cream Egg. All the best to you, Maggie and your family over this Easter weekend. Always remember to follow your nose!
Marvellously relaxing. We are about 2 weeks away from days like that. The spring migration of birds will begin - can't wait - then and then about 3 weeks after that the black flies will start and be relentless for a few weeks until we get a few hot days which "burns" them off.
Yummy leg of lamb. My parents would always buy a half of lamb, split it with a friend. I always liked it baked and then with mint jelly. Thanks... small prop planes..... The other day literally I saw a old silver tin can flying. I haven't looked it up yet. Two propellers close to the many body loud super duper loud but was flying of course into the windy wind getting ready to land. When wind is coming from the northwest they go right overhead ...fighting the wind.... I always like watching the UK crab landings with their commentaries some comments funny.... I was watching here for a bit to see how the planes were fairing in that high wind here. We have a old closed base landing strip and a small jet fix it hangars here.. Thanks again..
Just the way I like it, wine drinking bushcraft style along with a delicious feast. 😊 I love roast lamb. Unfortunately, I married into a non-lamb eating family so I suppose for me the deprivations of Lent will be extended into and beyond Easter! 🤣 Good to see Maggie out and about again with you. Amazing culinary repast and another great video. Many thanks and Happy Easter to you and yours too!
That was a marriage for me would never happen cos I love my lamb too much. Agree with all your other sentiments tho. Happy Safe Easter all. Thanks Simon for this treat. Bushyboy Oz.
Great video! I shouldn't have watched this so close to bed time. Now I am hungry!! I liked your system of burning wood and collecting coals. Maggie is one lucky girl.
Simon, Happy Easter! (even if you're a bit early) That lamb looked mouth watering, I'm sitting here drooling thinking about it. I hope you left enough for the rest of your family... lol. I'm glad you were able to get out and go camping with Maggie, she seems like such a sweet pup. Thanks for sharing, stay safe, and take care.
My favorite Dutch oven dish....porketta roast. ...and the juice's make an excellent semi spicy gravy for the added potatoes and onions. Include homemade buttermilk biscuits....now that's good old north country eat'n. Dang, makin' myself hungry just thinkin' about it.
very nice mate.. reminded me of the haunch of venison we had on canoe trip :)
Oooh - that was good wasnt it! 😋
Silence of the lambs! Somewhere there's a 2 legged sheep running around!
