This is the most in-character reaction to his brother's death I've seen Papyrus have in a fan work. 100% he would use silly things to rationalize why he feels terrible and avoid facing it genuinely, while keeping his positive demeanour and optimism no matter what.
This happens a lot irl too. A doctor can tell a patient that their wife or husband is dead and then the next question they ask is "hey when can I go see them"
"Esoteric flows from the armor" is probably the greatest joke I've ever heard. It leads you to look up what esoteric means, and when you do, you discover that esoteric is a word that pretty much just means "obscure" and that killed me.

I’m not gonna lie, this battle looks pretty easy; all he sort of does is stand in one place most of the time to dodge attacks, as they never seem meant to hit him in the first place. Also, the music doesn’t sound fitting at all, and if anything, is less fitting and much more boring than the original Bone Trousle, which perfectly captured the theme of this battle. Yeah, sure it doesn’t have the armor, but like; it’s very much so possible to die to Papyrus’ attacks, he was the first to feature blue attacks, turn your soul a different color in general, which in itself was quite creative. If anything, this battle is just a bunch of bones thrown across the screen.
Comments: - 4:24 Good pattern. That'll make sure the sharper players notice that there is a little trick behind some of the deceivingly easy patterns. I think you should make more of them. Especially for battles at Lunatic Difficulty.
i’m seeing a lot of criticisms, but as for myself, i really enjoyed it! the writing style of the dialogue stays incredibly true to the original game, and even though the animation style is different, the dialogue really makes me feel like this is part of the game! keep up the great work! ps I understood papyrus’ reaction perfectly, i can tell he’s REALLY trying not to lose his shit

I'm loving this. Its a proper AU, if you know what I mean. It shows an different side, actually tries to change things, imagine it anew. Its Undertale..but at the same time NOT Undertale. It shows you the consequences of your actions, and..well, its well thought of. You can't *expect* anything! Everything is a plot-twist, basically. I definitely do believe it will break you're heart the same way it did in the original Undertale.
You have probably heard of it already, but if you like this sort of thing, then another "true AU" I recommend is Glitchtale, sorry for wasting your time if you have watched it already.

For anyone confused as to why killing Sans didn't bump the player to LV. 20 is because. Sans only has *1* EXP. You only need *1* EXP to reach the LV.20 and Sans provides the *1* EXP.
It has come to my attention that the implementation of 'annotated commentary' is not ideal. Being a rookie RUclipsr, perhaps I had not foreseen any sort of annoyance when it came to implementing the annotations that I did. For all I knew, it was merely for fun whilst getting my own personal thoughts across to the viewer. But it's just like watching a movie whilst having the director constantly talking over the film (I mean, who'd want that?) Besides, only now do I realize that if I the creator have to step in and talk to the audience to clarify some points via annotations, that says a lot about the obscurity and quality of my content. I shouldn't have to do that. So, I'm simply removing them. And good news, they won't return... Ever. I guess I could also thank the fellow viewers... Perhaps if it wasn't for the constant nagging, I wouldn't have made up this mindset to delete the rather obnoxious commentary. So, in my final words. Thank you. And to those who were annoyed by the commentary -- Sorry.

This is the Papyrus I love. Despite being heartbroken and wavering on his emotions, he still manages to believe you can be a better person, even as you kill Sans right in front of him. That’s Papy for ya.

I see some people complaining about how Papyrus doesn't seem the slightest sad when Sans died. But imo, I think it was really in-character. It was clear that that "painful" feeling he was having wasn't really from indigestion, but he was trying make himself believe that it was. Papyrus is one of the most innocent characters from Undertale, to the point that Sans doesn't even tell him that all the others died in one of the Neutral endings, and to me, when his brother died right in front of him, he had no idea how to process that. And so, instead he focused himself with capturing you instead. And what's great here is how he still *refuses* to kill you, which is within his character. No matter how bad Frisk/Chara got, he still held onto hope that he can still change for the better.

Ah, that segment. Now, what I tried doing here was essentially try to build up to the popular 'Disbelief Concept'. 'Cause the popular Geno-papyrus concept is the whole "Disbelief Papyrus," which for me didn't really fit his canon personality. As such, I built up to that moment, only to break the tension with something completely opposite. Because perhaps someone out there will think this fight is based on the premise that Papyrus will get angry. Nope, that's not him at all (IMO). I also wanted to emphasize the 'cinnamon bun' that Papyrus is... I will admit, I think I overdid it. But yea.
This is the Papyrus we've come to know and love. Not some revenge-driven maniac. Disbelief is incredible in that the fight is unbelievably well executed. But this is just leagues better in terms of music and faithfulness to the character.

Papyrus is too calm after his brother died. He hardly cared. All he wanted was to capture you, not kill you. I know Papyrus isn't the type to kill but he should at least try harder when his own brother died in front of him!

+Theking35 I think Papyrus would be angry at his brothers loss but would try to honor that loss by trying to fix what is left. Papyrus was never a vengeful or ruthless type in the original game. rather he always held a positive and forgiving nature, refusing to let his faith in friendship falter. Friendship is the only thing a self driven person can not grant themselves. I think the dialogue kept well to the spirit of Papyrus. A traitorous friend was and is a friend in the end. Papyrus in this scenario seems to have that mentality, as when the suit is about to blow, he shows he never had an intention of harming the player, rather his goal really was to ultimately help them.
+Virtual_ D3f3n As well for the starting portion I myself am also the type to make untimely jokes as things get worse. I make jokes in moments of extreme anger or desperation to buy time to think or at least put off the anxiety and stress until I can find a way to accommodate the situation.

+Alkatron unlike sans, his attacks are not karma (kr), witch makes sans a difficult enemy. although papyrus seems to have more stamina, or what i would say "if he doged he might as well do that forever". remember. papyrus is the most enthusiastic monster if you had to think of one. sans is acually weak. its just the tech and his abbility to not be a dumbass that lets him live. if papyrus was to use bones etc etc he would most likely win. and theres a 90% chance he has gaster blasters. and he can also survive a few hits in the neutral and non genocide (failed genocide route). although his patterns are way to easy to learn. but it may be a living hell for new players if faced against papyrus. ireally would love to see papyrus when he doesn't belive. out of all of them i still think hes a lot stronger than the "disbelif papyrus" and stuff (disbelif is easier the sans btw). and not only that if this sence really could happen, its more then likely you'll die from the frist attack. and papyrus could've doged more. he just didn't have enough determinaiton, the will to go on or the fact he ran out of moves. This is the Papyrus we've come to know and love. Not some revenge-driven maniac. Disbelief is incredible in that the fight is unbelievably well executed. But this is just leagues better in terms of music and faithfulness to the character.

Papyrus is too calm after his brother died. He hardly cared. All he wanted was to capture you, not kill you. I know Papyrus isn't the type to kill but he should at least try harder when his own brother died in front of him!
I mean, it wasn't supposed to be interpreted that way, but I guess it was my fault for making so many people think that papyrus disregarded sans' death. (Perhaps I should've added more hints here and there... Or yea, make him more emotionally involved.)

+Theking35 I think Papyrus would be angry at his brothers loss but would try to honor that loss by trying to fix what is left. Papyrus was never a vengeful or ruthless type in the original game. rather he always held a positive and forgiving nature, refusing to let his faith in friendship falter. Friendship is the only thing a self driven person can not grant themselves. I think the dialogue kept well to the spirit of Papyrus.
A traitorous friend was and is a friend in the end. Papyrus in this scenario seems to have that mentality, as when the suit is about to blow, he shows he never had an intention of harming the player, rather his goal really was to ultimately help them.
+Virtual_ D3f3n As well for the starting portion I myself am also the type to make untimely jokes as things get worse. I make jokes in moments of extreme anger or desperation to buy time to think or at least put off the anxiety and stress until I can find a way to accommodate the situation.

Well, most of Papyrus's attacks here are a little scattered, plus, it's a suit of high tech mech armor, what did you expect?

Sans he's probably as strong if not stronger than sans, for the same reasons.
+Alkatron unlike sans, his attacks are not karma (kr), witch makes sans a difficult enemy. although papyrus seems to have more stamina, or what i would say "if he doged he might as well do that forever". remember. papyrus is the most enthusiastic monster if you had to think of one. sans is acually weak. its just the tech and his abbility to not be a dumbass that lets him live. if papyrus was to use bones etc etc he would most likely win. and theres a 90% chance he has gaster blasters. and he can also survive a few hits in the neutral and non genocide (failed genocide route). although his patterns are way to easy to learn. but it may be a living hell for new players if faced against papyrus. ireally would love to see papyrus when he doesn't belive. out of all of them i still think hes a lot stronger than the "disbelif papyrus" and stuff (disbelif is easier the sans btw). and not only that if this sence really could happen, its more then likely you'll die from the frist attack. and papyrus could've doged more. he just didn't have enough determinaiton, the will to go on or the fact he ran out of moves. (this was a really long post lol)
