- A film about love of a village girl, Asya the lame, for the tractor driver Stepan. Asya loves him devotedly and recklessly, decides to give birth to a child from him, despite the fact that Stepan does not even think about marrying her. Chirkunov is in love with Asya, he is ready to do anything for her. However, Asya cannot give up her love for Stepan. The film was filmed in the village of Kadnitsy, Gorky Region, with village residents playing most of the roles.

You mean the birth scene! Something particular about it? A segment? You pointed out to the moment when he ran back to her not being able to leave her! I wished if you could be more specific but maybe you wondered about if he was up to leave her behind in the wilderness hoping she’d die or something, was that it? I guess it crossed his mind but couldn’t do it .. he wouldn’t be able to live with such guilt and shame afterwards and so decided to face the circumstances and Do something no matter how small. He was to kill two not one.. with the other who was his own flesh and blood.
My grandmother passed away being in the same situation only grandpa was with her.. transporting her over a donkey they had. They say he didn’t take good care of her on the road and that was how she passed leaving behind a baby who couldn’t live longer than 4 days for the lack of milk. They fed him sweetened water until they found a lady with milk but their hopes faded as so did his poor little soul. I pray for her lots. 🌾
