I installed the Dominion A4 on my Strive:ON a few months ago. These brakes make my Code RSC feel like a cheap toy from AliExpress. The lever actuation is INSANELY light compared to the heavy sluggish almost spongy feeling RSC levers. The bite point stays at the exact same place, no matter how long the descent is, whilst on my Code RSC, I was squeezing the lever onto my fingers by the end of the descent. For me personally, this was a huge upgrade in lever feel, incredible reduction in hand fatigue and overall braking power ease. I had huge hand fatigue issues with my Code RSC, but with the Dominion A4, I've been able to push myself so much more.
i like how you are lingering on the closeups and pointing exactly to what your are describing. Being a highly visual person i find this very helpful to take in all of the detail . Well done 👍
Useful review. Sounds like you know how to setup and bleed Codes, so similarity in power is on-point. There are so many inexperienced "techs" who praise A4s, compared to RSC, because they never had the latter working right. They don't even know what RSC is actually supposed to feel like!
Good review. One important aspect thst i would like to add is thst levers have an extremely light throw. Its insane how amazing it is. And it really helps with arm pump.
You nailed it! The new Hayes Dominion do step over Magura MT7 pro w/203 rotors. 8P pads. Takes me back to my moto-x days when motors were equal in performance but brakes were the low key components for winning. Nothing more disturbing than being passed during corner entry.
Another informative video thanks. Great news about Topeak sponsorship of the channel, perhaps now they will send out the prizes from the (not so) recent competition 😮. We can but hope
I switched from the SRAM RSCs to the Hayes about 10 months ago. I like the amount of force (or lack of force) needed when squeezing the brake lever for modulation on the Hayes. The RCS requires quite a bit of force compared to the Hayes. For me, this results in less arm pump on long technical descents. As for Hayes Brake pads, it's nice that Hayes includes both types of brake pads when you purchase the brakes. I ran the semi-metallic set first and blew through them so fast that I thought there was an issue with my brakes. They only lasted a couple hundred miles. The Sintered T100 pads are the way to go on an e-bike. They've lasted 3-4x longer than the Semi-Metallic pads. I currently have over a thousand miles on a front set that still has some life but will need to be changed soon. The rear doesn't wear as fast.
The day I rode your bike with that brakes on, first thing I noticed was how powerful and bitty they were, you like the brakes quite bitty hahaha but it took me a couple adjustments to set them as my liking and they performed that good, I forgot about them. You can see the built quality, the levers are really such a beautiful art piece.
The best brakes on the market IMHO. Why you ask? because they are the best of all worlds: modulation +stopping power + low maintenance +affordable price I have them for 2 years on my turbo levo and I ride hard. I had most of the leading brakes before and the dominions are my fav by far!
Hi Sam. I have road the Magura MT5, two diferente models of shimano xt and 3 models of sram, and i felt more confident with the sram in questions of power and adjustments.
But your personal opinioin would be that this are the best or not? I swiched my bikes towards a4, and they are just way way more confrotable than any other ive tested (Ive only tested 4 - 5 models)
Good brake, BUT they are very temperamental for noise. For the life of me I wasn't able to get ride of light to mid lever pull squeaking. Id rather give up a little bit of power for a quiet brake. Nothing I did got rid of the noise. Even trying 4 different brake pads and manufacture rotors. If you can ignore the noise they are great. Another huge drawback is the use of DOT fluid. Much prefer the mineral oil
The one thing I've noticed with all dominion brakes is the the two sides of the callipers look like they don't have a great fit together. Looks like to random pieces just thrown together. Now I'm not saying they don't work, I'm saying for €400 you would think that the quality control would be much better!!
Riders I hope you like this review... and like always if you have any questions please let me know.
You dont need the hayes adaptors. I bought some chinese aliexpress adaptors but I did have to shave some off to fit. But saved me lots of money.

Glad you’re loving them! Way better than Codes that’s for sure
yeah that makes it way less fatige and all around confort is next level

Thanks mate

Have you tried hopes tech 4 V4’s and how do they compare? Would also love to see if and how you are getting on enduro-fying the Amflow! 😁
Hey Sam we are all waiting for your next Amflow video you said you would do a deep dive into the app.

Sam, do think you will ever try the Mavens ?
id be really interested in your review of those brakes .
Yes

As I said everyone is different all the brakes are good these dqysb
@@SamsBikes exactly it's just a question of taste and love for a brand.
Trickstuff lead time was crazy lol
These came with my bike and they're great, but I wouldn't go out of my way to try them. Love the modulation and smaller lever tho.
I kinda feel the same I don’t think I would buy them and put them on but I wouldn’t change them if they came on the bike
I have sram code r on my bike and I’m in the market for new brakes. I’m not sure what to get I’m thinking of xts or hayes but I’m open to suggestions
Definitely not xtr for me it’s Magura or Hayes both great options
What about Hope tech 4 v4 ?
But your personal opinioin would be that this are the best or not?

I was very close to buy a set of these, very close. But the use of DOT made me look for other options.
Magura gustav pro has been taken a lot to get them release on the market
Ta for video, are the cable 5mm as the same as trp dh evo. Thanks jean ❤❤
I put this on my sb140. I've had a bunch of problems with the rear break losing power. I won't by these again.

My cheap Tektro brakes that came on my Rail 5 are adequate. They will throw me over hadlebars😅
Saints.
