This game is not bad, it's your average 3rd person slop with no understanding of camera angles, it looks like a netflix show, the ost is a downgrade and tries too hard, there is no way Akira Yamaoka made this ost. Melee combat is pretty mediocre shooting is fun, characters are uglified, environment is pretty cool even tho nowadays art style doesn't exist and everything looks the same because "muh graphics". So far I've had fun but I can still be critical of it, in a perfect world this remake shouldn't exist and the only reason it works is because of the blueprint. It's sad they went on the safe route and didn't try their own ideas, probably because they were horrible and it's easier to just use the original ones, the things they did add was not memorable or special. Voice actor for Mary/Maria is worse than the original definitely, I don't mind the other ones. Nowadays remakes and games that look the same but with bad stories is all we get. Because criticism is dead, you can't criticize the product anymore, you'll be shamed, it's not socially acceptable anymore. And going back to the graphics, this is the thing companies nowadays hyperfocus when it kills all the creativity and the uniqueness. Ofc you people don't care about that because you consume the product and then get excited for the new product, And everything passable needs be praised to no end, it's like you want it to get worse. Also, adding a dodge mechanic into a horror game, real smart, what else can you expect from the walking sim devs. Some of you will be quick to point out that Resident evil is a horror game with emphasis on combat, silent hill wasn't, it was carried by the characters, the story and the ost and ofc athmosphere, on top of those newly added mechanics like dodging and the big ass boss fight arenas, the game isn't scary, which it was, but not anymore, because now James is the slayer of creatures with his insane Iframes. Tldr, the game is aight, YOU ruined gaming. And normalize criticism against the product again. Companies aren't human, they don't like you, they want to squeeze out every penny you got with minimal effort.

Absolutely love it so far! I miss the game design of the ps2 era and it translates so well to the modern day. All I will say is that it isn’t scary so far (I’m only like 2 hours in tho).

I've actually played Silent hill 2 prologue in 2016 but i didn't have the will to walkthrough it. Now it will be more modern experience and I'm excited.

Who is all this mysterious "ALL" everyone is talking about? Two extremely marginal groups of people get loud after the first trailer: 1. People who was upset they make r*pe victim not sexy enough for thier taste 2. People has worries about atmosphere and ability of new developer to keep surreal feel of the game. NOONE ELSE was concern. Vast majority of people was glad remake is going to happens and wait for it.
When there is a remake announced, my first thoughts usually are: Is that really necessary? You are right that there are too many remakes these days. However, in this case it was well justified as it was the best way to restart the series... and it worked out perfectly. I had a check list of what I was hoping to find in the remake, and all of that is there... and more. I like your point about the weird dreaminess of the original versus the more realistic feel of the remake, I like both. As for gameplay, I must admit that I did not enjoy playing the original so much, I was rather in for the story. I replayed it not so long ago and I did not enjoy that, although the nostalgia was there. As for James, he seems disconnected and indifferent, but there's depth to his character... as in he got overwhelmed by the circumstances and did a terrible thing which messed him up. Hence, the dissociation and weird reactions. But he wasn't a sociopath to begin with. That makes his character much more interesting and relatable. Love the game, but the reflections and frame rate on PS5 are not amazing. I had to turn it down to 1080p so it wasn’t stuttering. So it looks like a PS4 game but I’m just glad to be playing a new Silent Hill game.
