  • I installed Icon RXT leaf packs on my 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro. After I added the topper the truck needed help so I looked at adding new leaf springs. I choose the Icons because of the adjustability they come with. I installed them on option 1(good for ~1.875in lift unloaded). They come with an extra leaf to configure them in 2 more ways. Option 2(swapping the extra included spring with the 3rd spring down) is good for ~2.25in lift while unloaded and 1.75in loaded with ~200#. Option 3 (adding the extra spring to the leaf pack) is good for ~2.625in unloaded and ~1.125in loaded with 600#.
    Comment if you have any questions about the installation.
    Enjoy my first ever RUclips upload!!

    Really solid video showing the install process and well done doing this by yourself.

    Thanks for the measurements no one adds those haha , I’m adding the RXT to my 2014 Tacoma with no weight so hopefully I’m closer to 24”

    Great install and review video. I've got the Icon AAL which is working great for now but may be upgrading to these eventually.

    It's always good to pressure wash before installing

      You're right, I should've sprayed everything off. But it's no biggie brushing things off as you go either.

    Thanks for the video
    Just did the icon stage 8 on my 3 gen Trd 2017. Thought it just had leveling kit from dealer, so thinking the small block that was under the factory leaf was stock. In your video no block of course. I did use the blocks the leaf pins seamed to line up better. Now the back end does sit a bit higher than the front. I tow a trailer with my razor , If it doesn’t settle it down I may have to pull the blocks out.
    Lol should have done a bit more research before doing the install.

    Them leafs are heavy, it's also good to have a partner help you put them in

      Four hands would make things easier. They're manageable solo which is how I usually roll unless I absolutely need another person.

    Why should you have extended shocks with these springs? What were you pointing at? Thanks

    • @infinitemods540
      @infinitemods540  2 года назад +1

      If you look at the part in the video where I'm reinstalling the lower shock mount, you'll see that there's over an inch between the shock mount and the lower shock bushing. That means the springs will droop lower than the shocks. When that happens the shock will max out which will eventually cause issues. Ideally you want the spring to have less droop than the shock, so that the spring is the limiting factor.

    Great video, I’m about to purchase a set for my Tacoma. I was looking but didn’t see any shims under your leaf pack. Did you have any and if not do you have any driveline vibrations?

    • @infinitemods540
      @infinitemods540  2 года назад

      Good observation. No, I didn't put any shims on. I haven't noticed any driveling vibrations at all and I recently went to stage two with the springs which gave me another 1/2 inch of lift and I still don't have any vibrations. I'm at 23.25 inches hub to fender in the rear and 22.75 inches in the front.

      @@infinitemods540 What made you switch to stage two? Im on the fence between stage 1 and 2. I have a trd off road with stock shocks, a topper and a plywood drawer system.

    • @infinitemods540
      @infinitemods540  2 года назад +1

      Stage 1 was good for the stock front height to give the pro a little rear rake. Once I lifted the front 1.5in it was level again, and when I loaded the back the rear was slightly lower than the front. I went stage 2 to be level when loaded. Stage 2 didn't really lift much more but it is stiffer to help accommodating extra weight.

    Going to be installing the Icon RXT on my 2021 Pro in the next week or so. I'm stuck on which setting to go with. I estimate I have around 500ish pounds with the possibly of adding a RTT. Why did you go back to factory bump stops? I also have the sumo springs installed and im currently riding on them.

    • @infinitemods540
      @infinitemods540  Год назад +1

      I usually ride with ~350#s and I'm on stage 2. I like it there, good height but not too stiff. If you ride around with 500# plus it's go straight to stage 3. I probably could have kept the sumo springs on but they're not needed with the icons so off they went.

      With about 230 lb between a cap and a rack, would you go with option one or two? 2021 TRD Pro. Thanks

      @@bradmizzouoption one. I started with option 2 and it jacked my truck up almost 5 inches. Option one was perfect for my shell and decked system

    whats your max load out weight. I have a constant load for work around 600-700lbs. Icon says ill maintain a 1.125 lift with 600lbs. But for how long of life of the springs right? im just on the fence with these and the deaver stage 3s. Weight wise i think i can justify going with Deavers but cost wise Id love to put the extra money into Icon 2.0 rear shocks. Anyone with experience please chime in. Thanks boys.

    • @infinitemods540
      @infinitemods540  2 года назад +2

      I can't really speak about their longevity at a constant 6-700lbs. I load up with 6-7-800lbs (incl topper, rack,sliders, armour) when I go on long camping trips and they handle the weight well. I have them at stage 2 and when loaded I am level with my front which has a 1.5 in lift over the stock trd pro.
      If you want something more heavy duty you should look at OME or deavers, I think the icons are some of the softer more comfortable options.

    Does the pack go a certain way or does it matter? I see you installed with the two clamps towards the front.

    • @infinitemods540
      @infinitemods540  2 года назад +1

      That's right, the end of the spring with two clamps goes towards the front.

    • @bajaaddict
      @bajaaddict 2 года назад

      @@infinitemods540 Thanks! What is the purpose of this. I installed the driver side with the two clamps towards the rear. Seemed right for that side as i was able to refasten the brake line to the pack by removing the nut. If turn it around it would be on the bolt side. How did you re fasten the brake line to the pack on the driver’s side?

    • @infinitemods540
      @infinitemods540  2 года назад +1

      I've seen people make a new bracket or modify the stock bracket to mount the brake line to the spring. Others just don't remount the brake line and that's what I did. Seems to work fine and didn't seem like it will cause any problems. If it does I'll find a way to mount the brake line up.
