These old tutorials are soooooooooo cool now 😎👍
No DPF filters, EGR valves, catalytic converters and engine management ECU's to complicate everything 😂
The good old reliable days 🇬🇧👍

Catalytic conversion only made problems for diagnostics! As we could tell from the colour and output from the exhaust, what was wrong! The numocycclic and Hydra cyclic Semi autos were already complicated enough to manage repairs. I don t get why buses in the 80 s , didnt just use Syncro mesh! as maintainer wouldnt have been as complex as this. (and you think things are complicated now :-p ) . I Remember thinking, on a Leyland National, there was a sign above the drivers cab ! " NO COASTING" ! Now, as a driver, i drive a manual car, to which , i admit, i coast at times, but Epicyclic Semi auto gearbox's used an Automatic clutch , so how do coast with no clutch?!| Did bus drivers of that time just leave the pre selecter in neutral on down hills ? All this would do, i m assuming, is draw in the clutch ! maybe after a while , the clutch might overheat ? but then is a bus , huge clutches with immense power , can t see that happening tbh.The bloke that was my driving tutor, also told me this, but i was in a syncro mesh , fully manual car! So, Why the "NO COASTING" ? on these buses ?

With regards to 'Non Starts' on Titan buses, we found a number of vehicles where the fuel delivery pipes had rubbed together, causing failure on the road.
The armoured flexible pipes also gave trouble too. Some of the pipes were either collapsed inside, or rubbing on parts of the body. If you felt around the flexy pipes, you'd also gash your fingers if you were unlucky.
So give me an RT or Routemaster bus anytime.
Kind regards to all on here. Thanks for the interesting film.👍

For Hong Kong Market, Leyland olympian with Gardner engine and voith/ZF gearbox is the most reliable choice.

Wait hold on, the tune used in the intro is also the one the Independent Broadcasting Authority used in the 80s for the intro to the weekly Engineering Announcements show on ITV and later Channel 4...
