    You do such a good job of picking containers for your plants. The end result is always so pleasing!

    I have this one. Mine are planted in fairly large pots. Short and fat is the best. I use about six inches of leaf mulch on top of the potting medium. One part sand, one part peat moss and one part regular dirt with two inches of leaf mulch in the bottom of the pot. The grow rather quickly n the shade near the hives. Great bee food and a nice garden to boot! These plants love shady porches too!

    I haven't seen anyone potting these terrestrial orchids in s/h before. I am super interested to see how this one works out. Keep us posted! P.S. your hubby must be a real sweetie if he surprises you with unexpected presents like this one.

      I’ve had some good experiences with terrestrials in SH, I’m hoping this one goes equally well! And he really is the sweetest, most thoughtful soul ❤️❤️❤️

    Hi Michael,
    I wanted to know if your pots are in glasses and how you make your holes. What you use to drill the holes?
    Thanks for your reply.

    Good job! looks so much better in that glass container. Maybe it would be worth experimenting with a semi clear glass, I mean green or brown tinted, to see if algae grew less in it? I will look out for one myself for the next time I pot an orchid.

      I’ve heard that suggested before! I don’t see a whole lot of semi-clear glass, but I’m keeping my eyes peeled...

      you're right, it's one of my less useful suggestions!

      Haha, not at all! I just don’t see much of it while I’m out thrifting for containers! But it’s something I’m looking for 😀

    How is this one doing in s/h? I knew it too be a terrestrial orchid.

      @MichaelsOrchids  6 лет назад

      It’s struggling with its transition to be honest, I’m a little worried. But my Paph and Jewel orchids which are also terrestrial are loving it. I’m hoping it pulls through!

      It’s called a Spathoglottis, and this is the first one I’ve ever seen at a garden center. Apparently they are super common in Hawaii and the Philippines, but I‎t is very new to me!

    It's awful to clip flower spikes but saw a cool way to make keikis from just the spike and moss. In this instance with mealy bugs probably not the best but in the future as a project
