Top Tier - Boz Scaggs - Moments (his best and sweetest record) T Rex - Electric Warrior - so many good songs. Hunky Dory - Bowie. Neil Young Live at Massey Hall . Every Picture tells a story - Rod Stewart. Who's Next. Elton John - Madman. Good but not in love like most are: Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers. Led Zep. Traffic - the Low Spark of High Heeled Boys. Aqualung - Jethro Tull. John Lennon - Imagine. Marvin Gaye what's going On. Van Morrison - Tupelo Honey.
What a watershed year for these bands and music. I'm happy to say I was at the age to see many of these bands debut and tour these records. I could add many more albums to your list, but it's your list and it gave me a great base for my 1971 fifty year musical review. Rock- on friend/s.
Nice list. I would add: Grateful Dead-Skull and Roses New Riders of the Purple Sage Fleetwood Mac - Future Games Savoy Brown - Street Corner Talking Quicksilver Messenger Service - Quicksilver Hot Tuna - First Pull Up, Then Pull Down Jefferson Airplane - Bark Freedom - Thru the Years Allman Brothers Band - Fillmore East Don Sugarcane Harris - Got The Blues
Good listing from 1971. Maybe not very 'rock', but I miss Joni Mitchell's Blue. I would rank the Genesis album higher. Sticky Fingers is my pick for the best of the year.
I'd sure put Procol Harum's Broken Barricades ahead of the next ten albums you list, and most of the next ten, too. It's a tight album with only one weak track. Madman Across the Water is the best album of the year, closely followed by Yes. Kudos on Surf's Up, probably the Beach Boy's best later album.
Should have included the electric light orchestra by elo or message from the country by the move. Which is actually the exact same band for each album other than the strings.
That's all!!? This is everything but "rock" just a mixture of pop, glam, bit of hr...waste of time, xept for few REAL ROCK LPS LIKE URIAH, FLO$, PURPLE

Cool list. I have about 18 of them in my top 50 for 1971.
Excellent job
Good listing from 1971. Maybe not very 'rock', but I miss Joni Mitchell's Blue. I would rank the Genesis album higher. Sticky Fingers is my pick for the best of the year.
Some albums came out in 1970 and some in 1972

HI I'm from Sri Lanka. Do you have Christie's"For All Mankind" LP
E Pluribus Funk-Grand Funk Railroad
Very nice, but in my humble opinion the Sweet's album doesn't fit with this list.

Umm... Yes, Caravan, Hawkwind, Jethro Tull, The doors, Janis Joplin, Alice Cooper?
@@joaquinlezcano2372 true, the list is looong, allthe best
@@edgarzavala9405 It's a good list but I agree with Tres, John Lennon is more pop than rock...?
This list has faust s/t so it's goated by definition
