- Short video showing the newly acquired JCB backhoe loader. This is a heavy duty backhoe, the engine is a British Leyland motor company 4.98T, which runs great and does not burn any oil. It has a column shift electronic controlled forward/reverse transmission with 4 speeds. I hope to make another video here at the end of the year and I will do a complete walk around with the features of this backhoe.

Will be fun digging around the property.
Yes, it’s like being a kid again!
I just got one of these today. Haven't even tried to start it yet. The right brake is locked up and I need to put a key switch on it. I might need to ask you some questions as i go through it if i can't figure things out. Mine has the extradig hoe.
I will try to help out when I can. I am learning about it as well. I was able to find some old manuals online.
How’d it tow behind the truck? That’s a nifty piece of equipment!
It did quite well, especially how loaded it was. I was able to run highway speeds no problem and it was stopping well too. The trailer was rated for over 20k lbs and had really good brakes on it. Only issue is the truck has a vibration at take off when loaded, apparently this was a problem on these early 6.7 trucks. Research I found said the only fix was to upgrade the carrier bearing and driveshaft to a heavy duty version, not sure I am going to do that since I do not tow this kind of weight very often.
Congratulations ! Any time when first buses will be pulling in for work?
Is it of the highway?
It will be a while before we are able to host any buses here, still quite a bit of work to be done. It is conveniently located very close to a major interstate.
That would be a 79 model 3d and that is a leyland engine
1983????
That’s what I believe, from the tractor serial number.
