Visited Burrough Schmidts tunnel many times as a child, even camping there. Milo and Toni lived in the cabin back in the '60's. They had to haul supplies from Ridgecrest CA up to the tunnel. Toni always had a pistol on her hip and was a rough lady. Milo was sweet and easygoing. Both were friends of my parents. My dad was a tungsten miner in Atolia, CA, and my mom worked as the school janitor. I attended a two room schoolhouse in Johannesburg, CA.
Can you picture yourself here on a perfect evening, watching the sunset? The sky painted in shades of orange and purple, a cool breeze in the air, a cold drink in hand, and a warm fire ready to light up the night.
Most of that is natural decay. The Graphitti isn’t but the damage to the home is almost all natural decay. With windows and doors to properly seal a property they stand no chance.

Cool!
I'm working on my own tunnel now in New Mexico. Wish me luck :)
Wish you luck! 👍😁
It's embarrassing watching this video because of how people have destroyed this place.
It is definetly sad but why are you embarrassed?

@@ericanthony1982 because Americans most likely did the graffiti. You don't see this sort of thing in Europe and elsewhere.
@goblindumper69 Naaah, some of the trim was removed, other things missing. People over the years have taken stuff in addition to the graffiti.
Just watched a video of abandoned homes in Japan. No one does this in other countries.
I'm guessing Schmidts was also a graghitti artist...I say with great sarcasm at the shame of whoever painted it on the walls etc
Ive read this isn't a histoic site hence all the graffiti and such - sourced by Wikipedia.
Yes, unfortunately this place has been vandalized 100 times...
For heaven's sake 🙄
