    Hey there, Driver. Thanks for dropping by to check out today's video. If you've had a turning accident, how did it turn out? Do you dread taking right turns in cities? Love to hear from you.

    I'm not a truck driver but I love your videos. Could you do a video about how to fix your position once you are halfway into a turn or maneuver and you know it's going wrong? How do you fix it? It always amazes me how people navigate these giant trucks around tight and busy roads.

    Most accidents I’ve seen are from 4 wheelers in a hurry run into the side of the trailer during the turn

    I drive 108 ft long High Capacity Transport truck and intersections are rarely map out for trucks as that long here. But I have never hit anything. I always look at first what I do need to remember, when turning right or left. Often I need to wait until other vehicles are gone out of my way and after that I can turn freely. But sometimes there is some person car or so, who just don’t understand what I’m trying to do, no matter if I have my blinker on, but it needs some patience from truck driver. My max total weight in law is 150K pound and I can haul two 45 feet containers in same time. Keep up with good work out there!

    The right hand turn was spot on! I was in Denver, CO. one time making a right turn at a very tight intersection! As I was making the turn I did everything that you suggested during the turn. In making the turn the blind spot was created, I also used my electric mirror on my passenger side, my right hand turn signal was flashing on the front fender, the bottom of my passenger side mirror, the bottom of my sleeper panel, the middle of my trailer and the back of my trailer. Yet with all of these flashing lights and my tractor turning right one of these very, very annoying 4 wheelers drive up into my blind spot! Luckily I had my window down and heard her blowing her horn and I seen her because I was using the electric turning switch on my mirror so I also seen her and I stopped just before crushing her little car! So I had traffic stopped until she finally decided to back up, because there was no way that I was going to move, all the while I could see her mouth wagging and her hands waving about, because it was my fault! I checked to make sure nothing was hit and everything and everyone was alright before moving on.

    Making turns in a semi it takes two lanes of travel... if not you will jump a curb or knock down a telephone pole.

  • @jonathanb6911
    @jonathanb6911 6 месяцев назад +1

    This is why you plan routes... so you don't have to take turns like this in an intersection lol

  • @StefanBacon
    @StefanBacon 2 года назад +4

    Great advice. The only thing I would suggest is that if the intersection allows (road turning onto is wide enough) staying along the curb is better to prevent a rununder.

  • @romanhut2917
    @romanhut2917 Месяц назад

    Ok that seems like a lot of work . Why not just do a city turn ? All you got to do is mark a point to turn where your tracker is in the middle of then turn from a city turn where you split your lanes in half on each side . By doing this you give your trailer space extra space plus it follows your tracker out wide the same way you stated a whole lot easier . Or if there are no light polls near the edge of the curve hug to the left lane with tires then once halfway your tracker crosses that imaginary line turn sharp right if it’s two lanes you’re turning into . Cause the way you’re doing it big city areas like New York it ain’t gonna be pretty .

  • @lyght3043

    I'd something is better your line of sight and trailer tires you're going to hit it, if not you're fine. Has always worked for me.

    Hey Dave, I’m curious if you can make a video of A-Trains in a broad sense like driving them, the type of industries that use them, things I didn’t expect? I watched your B-Train video and adore it as they seem to be more common here in Utah With Double Long Dump trailers

    Hello! You have some amazing videos and great advice! I'm not sure if you'll see this being one of your older videos but I just got my CDL last year and have been driving tandem dump trucks but really wanna get into pulling side dumps or delivering fuel. However I'm not confident in making right turns. Anyway you could go more in depth on different right turn situations and maybe even show some in real time?
    Thanks, keep up the great videos!

    .
    The right hand turn is referred to as a Jug Handle turn... on a narrow Street it's best to make three left hand turns for your right turn... the left hand turn needs to enter a two-lane going into the outside Lane for proper clearance.

    Good reminder to use a "Jug Handle" rather than a "Button Hook" turn. I wish the video could have been "Turned around" (to show it from a driver's perspective), rather than making me look at this turn upside down. lol

    I was taking a right turn into the DriveTest centre in Thunder Bay during a snowy December day and a car tried getting in my blind side as I was turning.
    I had the examiner hanging out the window of the Peterbilt screaming a few choice words at them. I stopped in time and the car backed out but I thought “ We’ll, that didn’t take long to see what they were preaching about at school “.
    Thunder Bay drivers are the worst to begin with but …. LOL.

    I've had that happen twice now.. LUCKILY there was no accident both times simply because I also had my window down(the one time) and checked the mirror one last time milliseconds before turning the wheel.. Making right hand turns man, passenger vehicles taking the shoulder to make a a right inside your right happens.. Both times I just came to a complete stop(very unpleasantly) and let the vehicle on my right make their turn, then completed mine. And way to represent for Canada 🇨🇦 I'm a younger trucker up in Northern Ab And I enjoy learning a thing or two off these videos! Keep it up 👍

    I about to the hood off of a 4 wheeler this morning. They tried to squeeze between the passenger side of my trailer and the curb, I was in the only right hand turn lane at this particular corner. Thankfully I look in my mirrors cotantly.

    And then throw in an oversize trailer and load into the equation. I always get the "we get super B's in her all the time" statement, from people that know nothing. My trailer is two feet wider than a regular unit and 53' long with the wheels right at the back bumper, pulled by a tridrive tractor.

    I've had a 53 foot trailer with a curb sniffer Pete on Statton Island. Only way out, that I could find, was hop a curb with left front tire and let the trailer scrub a light pole on the right

    Im a student driver, still learning how to judge most things, but I have a problem of when I'm completing the turn, the tandems are across the yellow line on my driver side. I understand it's better to take too much real estate than not enough, but I'm trying to perfect it to where I don't hit anything on a curb or in the oncoming lane as I complete the turn. Any tips on keeping the trailer on my side and still miss a curb?
