    beer bladder of the gods on this one Rich! good on you for that. last time I had 4 DTs before bed I think I ended up sitting by the canal in Amsterdam with my trousers wrapped around my head (warm night ;) ). here’s to the Belgians eh? 🍻

      😂 Brilliant! I can totally see how that could happen with DT - although Duvel seems to be the one that catches up with me if I'm not careful. Both are too easy drinking for their own good! I think what saved me here was the fact I was drinking little wooden kuksa cupfuls at a time, so I managed to stretch it out over a few hours. Anyway, yes - the Belgians are a clever bunch! Cheers mate. 👍

      @@lildevilgamer oh congrats - a brilliant bit of kit! Funnily enough I used my Swagman roll as a hammock underblanket for the very first time last week on a little daytime camp, it fits the DD very well. It’s a shame that here in the UK it is rarely warm enough to get away with it on an overnighter! I tend to use it as a coat, an extra sleeping layer, and a pillow.

    I've never stepped into my bag and swung in... even in my DD Jura 2...(I've sold that now because I never used it that way and it was crap in cold weather) I just don't get the whole step in and swing thing 😂 Nice to hear your voice again Rich, I prefer the talky ones mate.👍 cool set up, shame you had a chilly night but hey... it was a night out and you didn't die eh? Until your next one. Lee

    • @CottonBud
      @CottonBud  3 года назад +1

      Funny, I would have put money on you being a swinger Lee 😅. Yeah the Jura has a centre zip of course which is much more hammock friendly, but then that sweaty plastic footbox in it is there to enable the ‘step in and swing’ ting I believe. Cheers for watching mate. I did comment on your latest but RUclips made it disappear again - no idea why. Suffice to say I loved it anyway! Look forward to the next one. 👍

    Nice one Rich I've not seen that setup before what do you carry in your chest rig and what is the elastic for you have put on I have used a jungle bag in the same was as you for my hammock it worked a treat it definitely retains the heat atvb jimmy 😎😎

    • @CottonBud
      @CottonBud  3 года назад

      Thanks Jimmy. The chest rig tends to have camera gear in, so I can get to it without taking the rucksack off. That's a Helikon Tex too, and very comfy, I don't notice it's there even when fairly loaded. I've also got a Jungle Bag , and the Swagman is perhaps a similar sort of size, maybe a tad thicker, with the hood hole in the middle. It has lots of elastic all over it, and toggles, which make it very versatile to cinch up around yourself as a poncho, but also around the hammock too - at least I managed it fairly easily after that Delirium Tremens anyway 🤪. But yeah, an over blanket on a hammock seems the way to go - it does make a nice warm little micro climate eh? Cheers for watching mate. Rich 👍

    i was admiring that tarp of yours at DD about a year ago, then suddenly they were no longer available. i emailed them and they said they'd withdrawn it for a bit to do some upgrades and so forth but assured me they'd be offering it again. still waiting, but hopeful.

    • @CottonBud
      @CottonBud  3 года назад +1

      Ahh that's good news, I was sort of hoping that. Mine hasn't failed at all after a fair bit of use, but I'm sure the guys at DD just want it to be even better. Deffo snap one up when you can mate - the extra tie out points make things like plough points even roomier too. Cheers for watching - Rich 👍

      Their new pro tarp is using buckles instead of poppers; not sure why as the poppers seem like they'd be much smaller. Perhaps people were tearing them off when they tried to unpop?

      The Belgians have got is sussed as far as I'm concerned Matt. The stove is the Bushbox XL Titanium (hence the 'Ti''). Fantastic bit of kit but painfully expensive. It has been so worth it though, use it loads, even in the back garden.

    Was that a little tribute to Erik at the beginning Rich? Great little setup mate. I've not seen a tarp set up like that before. It looks like a good way of keep the wind off but I wonder if it adds to the condensation. Some great shots and the sound was really clear. A great use of your hydration bladder 😉. I think we all aspire to be a bit more like Erik don't we Jiffy? He sets the bar very high. Yeah I did wonder about condensation too, but nothing on this particular night, other than on the over blanket, around the head area, which would always be the case I suppose.
