This seems like the closest modern pop music will ever get to classical music. I love it! I really don’t like that most pop songs nowadays don’t even use real instruments, just computers to play everything and then someone who looks pretty and can kind of sing belts it out over it and makes millions from it. I know, I just threw pop music under the bus, but we need more music like this! A lovely blend of classical music, real instruments like strings, and a modern touch with the guitars and stuff like that. It’s truly beautiful.
It's just hard for me to compute the greatness of this type of music....can't even put a finger on what it does to my brain, but it makes it happy as fuck
No hyperbole - I do believe this is the greatest song ever made. No other song hits the soul like it. Hard to put into words how much the lyrics resonate. I remember exactly where I was hearing this song for the first time on the car radio when I was in about 3rd or 4th grade and I just remember instantly connecting with it on a level that was more than the usual "Oh this is cool". Every time I revisit the song it's like a religious experience. The human race is better off for this song having existed.
I think "The Way it is" by Bruce Hornsby may be greater. Perhaps "Somewhere only we know" by Keane "Ordinary World" by Duran Duran. I believe all of these songs are through, with, and delivering the Holy Spirit, which also means (as in my case)... "I can change, I can change, I can change..." I would say it is hard to hurt (or even contemplate hurting) another person with this music - yet the original video features Richard Ashcroft walking down London streets and doing exactly that, while the song is also front and centre in the movie "Cruel Intentions" (a very naughty one indeed, and with a telling title). Meanwhile, "Ordinary World" was used in the pretty depraved game "The Evil Within" while Keane's aforementioned song was used in the religion-perverting horror called "Midnight Mass". You see how that works, Andrew? The darkness tries to take the most divine songs and take the transcending, life-changing, divine edge off them. A special (different) example might be the turkey of a movie "Moonfall", which had little or nothing classy to offer except the very beginning - with Toto's "Africa" - another marvellous song (in the literal sense of that word). One character was sure the lyric was "Miss the rains", but another reminded him it was "Bless the rains". If you miss, you don't get the blessing. You see there is meaning - great, explodingly wonderful, connected, synergistic meaning - in all good things, while the darkness does not just have evil to offer, but also meaningless, valueless chaos as surfaced with the glossy, hard-to-resist allure of sin.
Aaand...it's gone compared to what it is today. Everyone nowadays has surveillance everywhere - nothing is private in this day and age. Liberty is disappearing. Peace is going, and so is freedom. We want to earn all this back. We've battled through countless wars to get peace, not more wars. Time to end all this.

I was with you until “European airport aesthetic.” Lol what does that mean? I guess they could play this in an airport... I heard them play Tom Petty’s “Free Falling” in an airport once, and that wasn’t exactly what I though they should be playing lol.
The violin just speaks to my soul, speaks about how far we’ve come in music to not forget it’s classical roots as to where it all began. I wish more music existed like this. Can anyone suggest a genre or an artist like this?

I listen to a version of this song every day. I once heard it being played on a football advert, the instrumental version. And I kept thinking, what is that song?? Till I found it, and we have been inseparable ever since. The only song that makes me think, reflect and feel a lot of emotions I keep hidden. Beautiful.

It's 2019, and all I can say is, I miss the late '90s, and I wish I'd been alive long enough to fully enjoy the decade. This song is a time machine to me, an escape. I don't care how edgy and saccharine that sounds. I just needed to say it.
I'll be real, I'm more of an R&B and Hip Hop type of woman; however, this instrumental rubbed off on me in a way. It stuck in my mind for over a decade when I first heard it in multiple NBA Playoffs/Finals games (ABC often used this song), particular when the Lakers beat the Celtics in 2010 (RIP Kobe Bryant). What ignited those memories this morning was hearing it again on my Twitter timeline on a short video. So here I am, taking another listen 😊

This song still gives me chills. The strings(violins) set the whole song off. I think the Verve DID have a full orchestral record this original version. Then various DJ'd remixed the hell out of that version. Of course, when the Rolling Stones heard this song had "sampled" parts of their original song : " The Last Time" , they sued the Verve . The Verve & it's record label spent a lot of $$$ & time fighting the lawsuit. In the end the parties agreed to list Keith Richards & Mick Jagger on the writing credits along with Richard Ashcroft . The song rose to the #12 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1998 Keith Richards and Allen Klein , the Stones' former manager , ARE tired, GREEDY, boorish A-holes. They didn't need the glory, publicity or the $$$$ .
In an interview, Jagger stated that he didn't even know about the song until after the suit was settled. The lawsuit and settlement were organized almost solely by Klein with no involvement from Richards or Jagger. Verve did have permission to sample the song, but Klein felt that they had sampled too much (and perhaps knew what a hit it would be) and so he organized the lawsuit to try and get full rights to the song. I think this was just another example of a label trying to extort a vulnerable band for the rights to hit songs.
I've got dirt on my Reeboks from staying out all night I spent my last ten pounds on this bus ticket I phoned up Stevie, I said "bro, you alright?" He said "It's six in the morning, brother! Get some shut-eye!" I feel a sense of well-being this time in the morning Wear my heart out on my hoodie while the city is snoring People falling off the sidewalks, get issued a warning Distant sirens, they crescendo like a symphony calling This it the America I know, this is the America I love There's poetry inside this city if you listen enough Working class causalities out on the streets sleep rough While a father with his adult son takes his man to the bar And while there knocking them down, the cost of living goes up I can't relate to politicians with their head in the mud I resonate with messy Fridays, with the boys playing cards We do our bit to distract the struggle, as below, so above As as above, so below, here in the city we glow I blow a kiss up to heaven and it makes a halo And then the clock strikes seven, guess it's time to head home My companion is the city, so I'm never alone I'm stepping in and out of gaps of the pavement cracks And if I go to sleep now, that's an anti-climax People rise for work and the sun mirrors that A perfect juxtaposition for those out on the lash Bare with me, it's beautiful, I think its irrefutable There's beauty in a contradicting America... Indisputable Mother in a cubicle, that old office is usable While his husbands us at home, caring for a 5 year old Nine to five crucible, this route is not commutable A kid falls off the tracks and then he serves a stretch in Juvenal Loris at the store but her dispositions humourful While Davey's at the skate park and his mates call him delusional America, live it up and moan about the weather When the sun starts shining feel the factor 10 tremor Boys will be boys, will be in it together Until the fists start flying like they're Mike Tyson And then he's out... I think he took it too far I think the boy saw red, I think he hit him too hard Now he's face down on the dirt with a face full of mud Crazy how small altercations can define who we are That's my cue! I guess it's time to head home It's bittersweet how my day found its way to this path And I've said it once before, as above, so below Living on the streets of America you just go with the flow
Saturday 8th October I was at a wedding and I asked the bride to deliver the bouquet of flowers to my fiancée. Using this background song I then asked her to marry me and it was all very emotional. In 2024 we will get married, in the meantime in May of next year we will become parents 😌

Ok this is a good song a good instrumental but which is better cipher from Kevin mecload, and heat waves?I need to know from yalls opinion tell me there are good!
@R. Ive The people who think the 70s and 80s were the best era of music look down on the 90s as well. If you think the 21st century isn't a great era of music, you're just not looking hard enough lol.
Is there any version of this song out there without the, um, "controversial" strings? I'm just really curious to see what it sounds like with only their stuff. This is an incredible piece of music.
lyonel marcente it didn’t really sound that different without the sample. There was a release without it and most people don’t recognize it. Someone did a version of it without the sample. As this isn’t done in a studio without real instruments and mastering it sounds a bit weak, but it gets the point ruclips.net/video/aOMaaLJ3oFQ/видео.html

This is such a beautiful melody! Amazing!
Han pasado 4 años y aún te sigo llorando como aquella vez en que te fuiste tan de repente.
When I was young I heard this song at my dads work and always wondered what song this was until I found it and this version is my favorite
omg i just found the name of it yk i also loved hearing this back then in the car when i was just a little mf
I love reading the comments on RUclips videos- whether they are from 5 years ago of 2 months. It’s almost like a time capsule lol. So, whoever is seeing this, have a great day and whatever adversities you are experiencing, you will overcome them :) ♥️
Beautiful message God Bless You!
Perfect! Now I can definitely hear the sampling of the Andrew Oldhams Orchestra version of the Rolling Stones song The Last Time!
Masterpiece
I love this song. It reminds me of leaving for a summer road trip during the crack of dawn with my family.

Cause it's a bittersweet symphony this life
Trying to make ends meet, you're a slave to the money then you die.
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah.
No change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change,
but I'm here in my mold, I am here in my mold.
But I'm a million different people from one day to the next
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
Well I never pray,
But tonight I'm on my knees, yeah.
I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah.
I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now.
But the airwaves are clean and there's nobody singing to me now.
No change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change,
But I'm here in my mold, I am here in my mold.
And I'm a million different people from one day to the next
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
Cause it's a bittersweet symphony this life.
Trying to make ends meet, trying to find some money then you die.
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places where all the veins meet, yeah.
No change, I can't change, I can't change, I can't change,
but I'm here in my mold, I am here in my mold.
But I'm a million different people from one day to the next
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
I can't change my mold, no, no, no, no, no, no, no

A Modern post Baroque waltz/free style Spirit. Resinating to the core of a hearts pulse and brain wavelengths. Infinite humanity.
A fantastic choice to describe this perfectly. Well done..
Lorsque celui qui bat
En moi
Cherche à ne faire qu'Un!
À faire le lien
Avec le tien ,
Je retrouve encore
Ton sourire
Au cœur
Du Verbe ancien...
J'en suis plein!
Je suis plein
De tes pas éternellement fuyants...
Je les piste comme un chien!
Inlassablement...
Je suis encore plein
De ce jour passé
Puisqu'après quelques années
Tu restes
Mon jour préféré...
Parce que rien n'se cache,
Dans les cieux,
Qui ne brille
Lorsque tu souris
Je suis plein
Du silence assourdissant
Que tu m'as laissé
Et si vide,
Du moins tout autant,
De tes sentiments présents
Que le vent s'emporte!
Et l'écrit
Sur tous les «Toi»...
Tel un orage
Dans un puits sans fond,
Je remue le ciel
Et la terre
À la poursuite de ton nom,
De ta voix!
De son écho
Qui Vibre encore
En moi...,
Sans jamais renoncer...
Mais Bordel!
On s'demande bien
Pourquoi!?
Je suppose que,
Comme le disait Louis Aragon
Dans un flambant Vieux jargon,
«Je suis plein du silence assourdissant d'aimer»

# tu vibres en moi💫🍀 #hyper tout court
I wish I could turn a corner, open a door and be in the 90s 💔
still here 7/2022 and its still one of the most nostalgic romantic songs ive ever heard....
10 years after, still banger
MAGNÍFICO.
I think this was just another example of a label trying to extort a vulnerable band for the rights to hit songs.
been waiting, its been all year, you're still not here. where have you gone, what have you become.
Realmente hermosa melodía 🎶🎶 porque esta vida es una sinfonía agridulce🎶🎶🎶 😍😍❤❤
It's just amazing how the classical orchestra marries with the rock drums and electric guitar. unbelievable. now you don't have to pick a genre.
I've got dirt on my Reeboks from staying out all night
I spent my last ten pounds on this bus ticket
I phoned up Stevie, I said "bro, you alright?"
He said "It's six in the morning, brother! Get some shut-eye!"
I feel a sense of well-being this time in the morning
Wear my heart out on my hoodie while the city is snoring
People falling off the sidewalks, get issued a warning
Distant sirens, they crescendo like a symphony calling
This it the America I know, this is the America I love
There's poetry inside this city if you listen enough
Working class causalities out on the streets sleep rough
While a father with his adult son takes his man to the bar
And while there knocking them down, the cost of living goes up
I can't relate to politicians with their head in the mud
I resonate with messy Fridays, with the boys playing cards
We do our bit to distract the struggle, as below, so above
As as above, so below, here in the city we glow
I blow a kiss up to heaven and it makes a halo
And then the clock strikes seven, guess it's time to head home
My companion is the city, so I'm never alone
I'm stepping in and out of gaps of the pavement cracks
And if I go to sleep now, that's an anti-climax
People rise for work and the sun mirrors that
A perfect juxtaposition for those out on the lash
Bare with me, it's beautiful, I think its irrefutable
There's beauty in a contradicting America... Indisputable
Mother in a cubicle, that old office is usable
While his husbands us at home, caring for a 5 year old
Nine to five crucible, this route is not commutable
A kid falls off the tracks and then he serves a stretch in Juvenal
Loris at the store but her dispositions humourful
While Davey's at the skate park and his mates call him delusional
America, live it up and moan about the weather
When the sun starts shining feel the factor 10 tremor
Boys will be boys, will be in it together
Until the fists start flying like they're Mike Tyson
And then he's out... I think he took it too far
I think the boy saw red, I think he hit him too hard
Now he's face down on the dirt with a face full of mud
Crazy how small altercations can define who we are
That's my cue! I guess it's time to head home
It's bittersweet how my day found its way to this path
And I've said it once before, as above, so below
Living on the streets of America you just go with the flow
25 years on how this song still relates today
Saturday 8th October I was at a wedding and I asked the bride to deliver the bouquet of flowers to my fiancée. Using this background song I then asked her to marry me and it was all very emotional. In 2024 we will get married, in the meantime in May of next year we will become parents 😌
I'm a big fan from Indonesia 🇮🇩

I remember first hearing this in a Lexus commercial as a kid, and crying cuz I didn't know the title or artist. Imagine my surprise when I finally heard it again in Cruel Intentions. :)
This is a symphony designed for the young, and the young at heart.
I can finally hear Nick McCabe and Simon Tong's parts clearly
And man is it just absolutely gorgeous 💖
The guitar in the verse is sublime
I love it!
1:41 is the part where they lost all there rights to the song, it’s a real shame
OMFG
Immortal instrumental!
Just love that guitar in the verse
VERY impressive work. Kudos to you!

All great music happens in the UK.
What's the instrument at 1:04 ?
I take it you don’t mean the strings ? There’s a couple of guitar notes played through FX
This song was made in 1997.
i m really sorry , i could not hear it,,, but now i'm feeling lucky
Migs 2002
I was born in 1997. Our gen sucks
@R. Ive The people who think the 70s and 80s were the best era of music look down on the 90s as well. If you think the 21st century isn't a great era of music, you're just not looking hard enough lol.
I honestly say 1965 this song was released
This is just beautiful !
Sounds rich and classy!
This should be played at high school and college graduations going forward
Thank you so much for this!
