I like their debunking of the "don't eat late" myth. I tend toward eating a lighter breakfast and lunch and then eating at least half my calories for the day at the dinner table and an evening snack. I've lost over 40 pounds in recent months eating like this, because it works for me. Breakfast is usually a couple of eggs or overnight oats with yogurt and berries, lunch is usually a light soup or salad, I'll have a light afternoon snack (usually a piece of fruit) and then I'll have a bigger dinner and a light evening snack. You have to find what works for you.

Eating large meals before sleeping is a method Sumo wrestlers have used for centuries to GAIN weight.
I'd like to know how much weight these women have actually lost, because I used to be super thin. I literally could not gain weight no matter how much I ate when I was 18-20.
I would not take weight loss advice from myself back then. Take advice from someone who has actually struggled with weight.
Actually taking in a super low amount of calories was the only thing that worked for me.
Everyone on RUclips with a video camera can pretend to be an expert, but nothing trumps real experience, not even a degree.

I don't burn a lot of calories in the evening, so I'd rather not eat the way you do. Like maybe I will have a lighter dinner, that is less carbs heavier since I not moving at night and don't need fuel. Maybe you are an night owl or don't sleep early. Different lifestyles different diet methods. Also losing weight is not always an indicator. Losing body fat % and seeing real body composition i.e. inches is a better indicator. Muscles, for example, are heavier.

Another tip I'd give is, have infusions. Since your body might give you hunger signs when you're actually thirsty, but drinking water doesn't feel like it's "enough", have some green tea! Or black tea, or Indian blends, or coffee! Any of these really, just don't put sugar in it. Try to drink it natural, or sweeten it with NATURAL stevia (go to an organic store, don't get your stevia at your supermarket because it comes with "fillers" of artificial sweeteners and sometimes even contain sucrose and other added sugars). It might help with reducing and ultimately replacing the snacks that we so often crave.

This has helped me a lot. Thank you so much for opening my eyes. I have lost 3 sizes thanks to this.... I used to wear 4XL clothes in March, now I wear XL clothes and its been only 8 months. Losing inches helped me stay consistent, instead of fretting upon weight. Honestly, weighing machines only depress you. The only right way to know you are coming in shape by checking your waist. And for that, switching from simple carbs to complex carbs... was the greatest advice.
To anyone who is doubtful if this works or not: I have tried it, tested it, and this is the only knowledge that worked on me. I am a person who has Hypothyroidism and PCOS. I was once that person who COULDN'T lose weight, even with medicines, even with multiple gym sessions and various diet routines. I gave up on weight loss until I came across this.
What I did, was booking an appointment with a certified dietician. Her diet was hard to follow but I used all the knowledge in this video and stuck to complex carbs, avoiding juices and diet sodas etc. I eat steam-rice everyday (its a bargain, can't afford brown rice- its too pricey, too hard and too time consuming to cook). And I added 1 hour cycling to my routine where I just ride a bike every evening. Of course this was my dietician's idea. She thought it was better for me to go cycling in the evening instead of morning.

Oh my god! I have PCOS too. I consulted a dietitian too and her diet is so follow-able. I’m learning a lot. I’ve developed a love for salads, green leafy vegetables, and fruits. I still eat carbs but I take care that I don’t overdo it. She doesn’t make me cut out any food groups as she says it’s not feasible for the long term and might result in weakness. I have already lost 8 kilos in the past month and a half and got my first period in months without any medication. Can you please share more details on what helps? I have a long journey to go.. about 30 more kilos 🥲🥲. But I’m determined and positive, I maintain a healthy mindset that I’m doing it for me and no one else. Very happy to listen to your successful PCOS weight loss story. I’m at a XXL and plan to reach at least a M.

@@nostalgicgirrl6053 personally I found that using the Samsung Health app really helps me keep track of my diet and exercise. Its helped my husband too because he is a big secret snacker, was in total denial about how much he was eating until he started really keeping track of it. I use a heart rate monitor to determine about how many calories I burn on a normal day (my base metabolic rate) and I eat less than that to ensure consistent weight loss.
I think eliminating snacks is also a good idea. You should only eat when you are hungry, (regular hungry not starving) and eat with the intent of getting full. However, when I do crave a little something I found that low calorie popcorn is a great snack, you can eat a lot of it for little calories and it gives you some extra fiber.

Define work. If you are insulin resistant and just eat less but keep eating sugary processed shite you will store the energy, so you can’t use it and feel hungry tired and shitty. Since you don’t have the energy your metabolism will regulate way down until you stop starving yourself. Eat less and move more doesn’t really work; eating less shit and you will move more because you have the energy, because you didn’t store it.

@@helium-379 it's not either or, it is a little of both. One, everyone should be working out because it is good for you, but a combination of eating healthy and working out is going to be the best way for almost anyone. You don't want to eat less because you don't want to be under nourished, so if you eat healthy everyday, and work out everyday you are going to burn those calories. For instance (and everyone's metabolism is different keep in mind) I cut out all fast food and was working out everyday and was eating healthy, and I lost 10 lbs in less than a week. Now over quarantine I rarely ate or worked out and lost 30 lbs in 4 months. You see how much faster I lost weight when there was a good balance? Cause if you eat, specially smt heavy, close to going to sleep, it can't disrupt your sleep cause your body is still digesting the food. So if you get out a 2am and go to sleep at 4, it's ok to have smt in between (just maybe not a whole large pizza)

    • @cursedshadow

Actualy the issue with eating before sleep is about Acid reflux. If you lay down right after eating, you put strain on the lower esophageal sphincter which blocks the entrance to ur stomach from ur esophagus. If u do this every night, ur sphincter will become weak evwntualy and the acids from the stomach will leak out upwards, causing discomfort and pain. Dont eat before laying down, wait 2-3h after eating.

For bread, you don’t have to cut it out of your diet. Just check the ingredient list. If it has around 50 ingredients, skip it. Look for bread around 4 ingredients, more likely found at your local bakery.

It _can_ be, but it is very challenging to get right -- unless you're from a vegan culture that has spent generations developing a cuisine for it... and still. We certainly eat too much meat nowadays (fails the "moderation" test). Once in a while (e.g. once a week and on special occasions) should be enough when you can get your protein from other nutritionally richer sources (legumes, eggs, dairy...). We call it "flexitarianism" nowadays, but it's just been the regular diet of humans for millions of years, the one we've evolved for, until the industrial revolution and the green revolution gave us abundance and made us lose our sense of moderation, especially when it comes to meat and carbs. As for keto, it is a weight loss and/or metabolic correction diet (to lower blood sugar, get rid of carb cravings and kick-start fat burn, correcting for our immoderate consumption of carbs). The answer is in the fact that carbs actually make you hungry faster.. it's somewhere journalized in a published study.. I forget. But that's most likely the reason why.. if you balance your breakfast to be more fat heavy you won't be starving quickly.. or you can skip breakfast.. have no glucose interfere with your digestive system and be hungry by supper time lol.

Actually, intermittent fasting (skipping breakfast) helps me control cravings. Also made me realize, many times when I thought was hungry, I was just thirsty. But every body and person is different and different things work for different people. Like not all diets work for everyone, fasting also doesn't work for everyone. Do what feels right and listen to your own body and learn to understand it

That's more because your personal schedule and tastes have made it so that method works for you in terms of adherence. It's not the intermittent fasting itself that is making it effective. It's that, for you, you've found that putting yourself on a more strict meal timing schedule lets you keep your meals within the caloric and nutritional ranges you need. But for myself, for instance, intermittent fasting does not fit with what I need to do. I spread my meals out more throughout the day, in part because of the calorie requirements I have, but also because I'm trying to maximize muscle building, meaning I want to keep the meals to around 40g of protein (around the "effective" amount your cells can hold on to and make use of at a time) each, leaving a couple hours in between to digest. So I'm eating all day, but the meal sizes aren't particularly huge for me. It's all about adherence.

Instead of using olive, you can put in a blender 1/3 onion, a bit of garlic, herbs like coriander and 2 cups of water with a pinch of sea salt and spinach and a small peppers can (guajillo, habanero, chipotle) and then you cook your meat or veggies with it. It seasons it and you don't use oil :)

Curent nutritionist have learn their jobs on school that still taught based on old myth and old nutrition research.
that most nutrisionist don't keep up to date with the latest research and lastly that nutrition is a very complicated subject and there isn't just bad and good.
Ex: a lot of fat is bad in the case you eat lots of carbs, it isn't in the case you don't.
high cholesterol is linked to heart disease but it can be the oposite in certain case.
you have bad and good cholesterol (LDL and HDL) but turns out neither of these are actually bad within good proportions.
and also there isn't just LDL cholesterol but many subtypes of it.
in brief, nutrition is very complicated and no one really understand completly how it works.
lattest research is closer to the truth and nutritionist tend to not be up to date.
which is way you can have 2 different actual expert in the field that will have an oposite argument.
      that's just how science works.

Spoiler: They aren't. Most of that was purported by appeal to nature zealots. Silicone and Parabens are also not bad.
Preservatives keep you from the very real, very natural very dangerous bacteria that lives in your food and health products.
Additives can have some allergic reactions in some people, but they are overall not bad. But that goes for everything on the planet as the immune system can mess up. It's not a strawberries fault that someone can go into anaphylactic shock eating one.
Just like GMO, it's about how it's done and why. GMO would be great, but the companies making it kinda don't care about proper research into doing it in a way that is beneficial to the environment.
Just because something is natural doesn't mean it's good. Parasites, poison Ivy, uranium, etc. Cancer is the most natural thing in the planet and it kills so many people.
Nature isn't our friend. I doesn't know better, it doesn't care about us or our problems. We adapted to it, but nothing is perfect and we've modified it since, just as all creatures do by existing. It's not an order or a fate driven thing, it's adaptable and changing all the time. Understanding what works and what doesn't should be rigged into thinking natural is best, or that we have everything perfect in our modified age either. Anything you eat, you are not eating what our ancestors ate, period. Almost no fruit veggie or animal is anywhere near the composition our ancestors consumed. Everything is bigger, sweeter and more plentiful.
There is a lot of popscience and pophealth about these subjects. And the issue is that when a new study comes out, the follow up ones get ignored. Parabens is a fantastic example of this. The public learned about a study showing the problems and 6 months later another study was done correcting the problems of the previous one and showing it wasn't dangerous. No one cared enough to inform the public of that, because that's one confusing for people to take in, and two isn't sensational enough to sell clicks/papers.
If you want real answers, look for legitimate publications on these topics, like NCBI since most of their papers are free and not on paywall like harvard or other schools of study.

Additives and preservatives are so diverse. Generally, the main issue for these chemical agents is the long term effect of each agent is not well-studied. FDA approves each chemical agent just according to the current body of studies and the approval can be taken back if any significant and reliable study has proven otherwise. That's why some medical/health practitioners choose to not recommend them but not very strongly. There is a difference between a strong proponent and a skeptic proponent of an opinion.

there's a difference between starving yourself and skipping meals despite being hungry and listening to your body. they were not referring to the latter

    • @zadock6370
      @zadock6370 2 года назад +15

It depends. If you have a decent amount of control when you eat, skippings meals wouldn't be bad if you aren't hungry, but If you would ahve a habit of overeating because of it, don't do it.

They are talking about missing meals your body actually wants. In your case its not meal skipping, it's intuitive eating, which is highly recommended in general.

The "don't skip meals" is a myth ig, just eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full. That's how Rasulullah maintained his healthy and fit physic. If you eat a big breakfast (that's how I roll) you won't need lunch and you won't feel hungry until later. No need to force yourself to eat lunch then, right? Everything in moderation.

Intermittent fast works amazing for me! I can actually feel that I don't eat enough calories, but the most important gain is that I have no problem with low blood sugar. It's fine to feel hungry, it doesn't affect me. I know it's not magic, but it helps me to loose weight and makes me feel good.

The obsession with BMI also marginalizes the naturally thin. I had a coworker who had been told to gain weight since she was 13; her blood tests and everything were good, she exercised frequently, she had curves in all the right places, not bony at all... but ah, her BMI was in the "underweight" category, so every doctor who saw her told her to gain weight.

Or maybe the test isn't for you and thats why it doesn't work! BMI is for someone who needs a food intervention or they will die. Its a number a doctor can give a fat guy and say "here work towards being this weight cuz your current weight is going to kill you"

IF helped me with my cravings and not being hungry or thinking about food all day. So far I’ve been able to last until 2:00pm without food. I’m trying to push that back even more so I can try ever other day water fasting. I’ve already lost weight (90lbs) the traditional way and we all know that works. Now I’m looking to lose my last 60-70lbs and tighten up my loose skin/not making any more. I’m usually a very disordered eater and binge a lot but IF has honestly helped with that. When I don’t do IF I eat all day for no reason.

@TheExplorer my reason for doing IF is to eat larger meals with more calories. So I only eat 1 or 2 big meals. I'm more satisfies that way.

Not if you're speaking to good dieticians. Nine out of ten will tell you to eat whole foods in abundance, including protein, fat, and carbohydrates, and probably advise you on roughly what your calorie intake should be, give or take. This isn't for you to obsess about calories, but to give you an idea of what your diet should look like if you want to achieve your weight loss goals in a healthy way. I'm sure they'll also encourage physical activity, hydration, good sleeping habits, and managing stress levels.
