WON celebrates the IEEE day

- IEEE Day is celebrating the first time in history when engineers worldwide and IEEE members gathered to share their technical ideas in 1884. One of the IEEE Day’s objectives is to show the ways thousands of IEEE members in local communities join together to collaborate on ideas that leverage technology for a better tomorrow.
This year, the Wideband Optical Networks (WON) project was joining the IEEE Day by organizing a virtual event held on October 8, 2021. During the event, some WON early-stage researchers (ESRs) provided invited talks to discuss how the development of optical communication technologies can enable the full exploitation of the total capacity of optical fibres to efficiently sustain Internet traffic growth.

In diesem Jahr beteiligte sich das Projekt Wideband Optical Networks (WON) am IEEE Day mit einer virtuellen Veranstaltung am 8. Oktober 2021. Während der Veranstaltung erörterten einige Forschende des WON-Projekts in Vorträgen, wie die Entwicklung optischer Kommunikationstechnologien die volle Ausnutzung der Gesamtkapazität von Glasfasern ermöglichen kann, um das Wachstum des Internetverkehrs effizient zu unterstützen.
