One important thing to consider is that A.i. Comes wirh it's own unique set of vulnerabilities... And until those vulnerabilities are solved you won't see a significant uptik in ai only cybersecurity
Love how he glossed over and then side-stepped the question concerning AI coming for a multitude of tech jobs. "Human judgment is going to be important for the foreseeable future.. I am completely wide-eyed.. every human on the planet needs to be secured.. we need people from multiple backgrounds.. We need more people from a liberal arts background.." All of that (and more) is complete aversion to the question.
@decastring False. It takes one attack to be successful by one person. It takes a ton of money resources and man power to mitigate risk (likelihood and impact) and respond to them so it's far more complex and difficult. And that's just one aspect, you haven't even mentioned involvement with compliance regulations, framework and involvement and initiatives like VM with patching that are also applicable. So blue team and non red team security people are paid extremely well and salaries are increasing.
lol way too many noobs trying to pass as experts is why we have a shortage. It takes time and complete immersion to learn these skills. AI is just another tool in the bag and if blue team is using it better believe red team is too
The thing I've got from video is "there's a shortage of cybersecurity professionals but since we don't want to spend a lot of money on hiring new people (and even if we want it's only PHD's) we're gonna do with AI.
Good point and also good to remember these tech companies including cyber security are in it for profit and will always say their sht is the best and can prevent attacks when in reality hackers can crack it
Microsegmentation is the key. We are facing in memory attacks that cannot be detected by traditional anti-malware endpoints. You can observe this in Windows with 100's of services running in a single thread with direct kernel access. We need to establish behavioral patterns of how each process communicates in memory - baseline and block everything else. Examples of effective approaches include Threatlocker's "ringfencing", or "RPC firewall" by Zerotrust networks.
80% of 'attacks' do not originate from email... Public facing infrastructure that is unpatched + 0-days + Weak user/admin credentials = The majority of incidents.
This data collection/correlation thing will just prevent from low quality botnets or low complexity attacks. The downside of the models also is that they are based on already known behaviors, so if we are hopping this will help us close the gap I am pretty sure some people will be surprised how poor this will be against well prepared attacker.
Excellent talk thanks David. I feel Jeetu is exceptionally in tune with the challenges facing the industry, the technology, and the potential solutions. Strangely satisfying to see Cisco knuckling down with renewed energy, focus, and ambition.
I have decades of experience in I.T. Helpdesk, but just getting started in Cybersecurity. And I have some initial observations and questions. Q- as A.I becomes more efficient in security, is the goal to put Cybersecurity professionals out of a job? Q- We are encouraged to learn Linux, Python, Bash, Active Directory, Cloud, Powershell, all the Kali Tools… yet %90 of security breaches happen via payloads from phishing, or physical pen test. Most WiFi networks are well protected, most Metasploit targets are patched… It “seems” like the current model of learning is obsolete. Aren’t we in the need of updating restructuring the PenTesting model? (I could be wrong)
Well, AI right now is like a snapshot of a digital brain (SORT OF, it's really a bot...), and you are able to run queries against it. You can use this snapshot to sort of process all network logs and give you an overall idea of what's going on. To do this, you need to be familiar with all of these concepts. And while it comes to a point where you do it so often that you start to feel like you are not doing a lot of work, it turns out, this familiarity is actually what makes you valuable. The moment you get too comfortable in your job for 90% of the time, congratulations you are now a professional. *BUT* to answer your question, they put a *LOT* of emphasis in this video on AI only, and the interviewee appears in a lot of other videos simply promoting the idea that AGI is coming our way. So to answer your question, *YES* this guy is definitely following an agenda to convince everyone that they are not that important and that AI can replace them any time soon. They *ARE* saying exactly that, that the goal is to put most workers out of a job, in a passive aggressive way. Wether this will come to pass, is very different, but the interest is there and it's coming from the rich people, make of that what you may. Since the start of this movement, developers are trying harder "not to be replaced" and tend not to ask for a raise or move to another high-paying job, because "now they are not as valuable and can get replaced". So there are nuanced incentives like this to convince people that a plagiarism bot can replace their jobs, if a little bit of publicity turns their tide in the big tech companies favour. The main take here, the purpose I'm writing this, my very suggestion, is to be very wary of what news you take to heart, because praising AI over human expertise was never the goal, and the people who do that are manipulating information to follow an agenda, and this information is most likely partially truthful at most, and dangerous rather than benefitial to your progression. Keep well and always respect your work and dedication for what it is, a life-long purpose.
It's challenging for a person who wants to start their roadmap on cybersecurity. But in my opinion, it is worth it. Time will show the reality of the good deeds and bad deeds of AI. Nothing will beat a smart one that is good in his career. I appreciate it, Sir.🙂👍
The day you can have AI in your home router, that can block common attacks and be updated as needed, might be the day we see less attacks as it gets harder and harder, behind that additional AI at the ISP. I could see this being a unique proposition as a product.
Great informative interview. The future is AI + cybersecurity. But Don’t forget AI can also act as loophole to our security to maintain that we need cybersecurity professionals as guards so keep in mind AI can never replace cybersecurity! Who all agree this ? :)
I agree with this. A.I will also be a tool used by the other side further increasing the need for highly skilled cybersec indivudals. If you ask me A.I will bring a boom to salaries to highly skilled cybersec pros.
WOW - Love how he said there is a short fall in talent. Then couple mins later he says AI is there to fill in gaps. That short fall in talent is what gives people negotiating power when applying for a job and getting a "LIVING" wage. You will not get that if all the gaps are filled. CEO's think in terms of cost. If those gaps are filled, kiss those jobs goodbye or wages will drop.
Really enjoyed this talk. I love that AI is being incorporate on the Blue Team side in order to counter the threat actors leveraging it. It is only logical and admirable that a company like Cisco utilize AI.
I have been a Splunk SME for about 15 years now. I get to see all the data types that go into Splunk. I seldom see people care about their data, just that some is flowing. For the few people who care about their data, very few care about other data. I was involved with a project that merged data sets from different sources. I had to give up due to the above reasons. This project was picked up at a higher level a year later and VP support. After a few months, the project was canceled for the above reasons. When talking about merging data sets, this is a very difficult people problem.
What are you talking about? That's the whole point of splunk. Normalize everything, then hunt and correlate. And once you mature, go to risk-based or heuristic detection. What you said got cancelled is the entire point of splunk. (Don't get me wrong, I personally hate splunk for my situation. But it works. After a fashion.
I do think that people need to take the stance that AI is for augmentation and embrace that or be left behind sadly, but its always the way in Technology. You have to keep up-to-date. Thanks for the content as always David, keep up the good work.

Nice interesting discussion and good to hear about AI and CISCO talking about Integrated Platform. Similar to this, SOPHOS has their "Synchronous Security" making use of AI in correlating huge data across all their products/solutions with a single tool for management.
Hi David, please tell me which smartphone is better: Samsung s23 ultra or xiaomi 13 ultra for stable operation of the WPSApp Pro application (for checking password hacking)
@ 14:43 i like how he said we wont have your private info unless you give explicitly permission. how much you wanna bet you have to give permission for it to work in the first place. how can you not see personal data when that's all that's going in and out of the system!? even the fact that im thinking about or looking into buying a toaster its still private information.
@@savagepro9060 thats crazy specially if the can read it fom the packets without decompressing. I think we need to make open source programs the norm and legal programs encripted for those who wish to part take in them because for it to be legal there must be a contract and concent therefore legal codes statuse n sh!t like that should not apply to all of our transactions online because what ppl do is all private. what CORPORATIONS DO IS ALL PUBLIC SO what ppl do with a corporation that's on them but the rest of the info MUST be private. we should stop allowing these oportunists from becoming our Techno-gods by selling us a pretty GUI wtf!! All of theses operating systems are created in linux. why cant we use linux and create our own apps, kinda like the android revolution but this time we go straight to the source-code and not another pretty GUI. we could even use AI to create the apps that we need for our particular business or to create our personalized computer, tv, phone or tablet GUI and all the apps that everybody makes should be free and open source for everybody to use and tweak. I bet that would even bring the concept of crimes out the pictures because we have everything why would we steal it?
@@savagepro9060 its crazy how i keep writing the truth and my msgs get deleted. ai is monitoring and deleting ppls comments if they are factual. didnt you see the long msg i just wrote you about the linux revolution and how they are taking over by selling us pretty GUI's.?
Guy's just talking his book. YAWN! ML has already a well developed technology in this space (Nessus, IDS, etc) and the limitations are well known. Learning a pattern only helps so much because all an attacker has to do is attack the holes in that pattern recognition. And that's all this crap is, pattern recognition.
Finally someone who understands what AI actually is. It’s glorified autocomplete. Cybersecurity tools have been using forms of “AI” for years. The recent advancements will help but they’re only as good as their data set.
yeah just last year my master thesis was the use of AI in spam detection more specificly using word2vec ihow natural laguage processing can be used wiht combination of ai prediction algorithms it was fun and seeying this vid reminded me of it
Question is does this all working for persons well being by itself in general and in specifics, and does this systems control for other systems not done bad stuffs, and does they notice persons behind bad actions systems for teach behave in more ethic and cultural ways. Very often because different situations, good tech or good life scenarios become broken, and it is all lead to bad consequences. Does there exist systems that control repair good tech and good quality life scenarios after any sorts influences in time frames.
There aren't enough security experts not because of gate keeping, but because it's hard. You have to have a broad range of knowledge and technical understanding. That's why it pays well.
Indredible interview David! There is no getting around AI and understanding that it will not replace but change jobs for the feature. Using AI will be a part of every career!
i just wonder down the road will AI tools innately be better at offense or defense? if it ends up being better at offense than defense we end up in a world where no network can be secured.
Very often digital world become not manageable, end even not reported about current situation to see things before they will lead to very bad consequences. It was very good said need to implement NLP feedback systems when interacting with digital world
Interesting interview. But Jeetu's take that "hallucinations are a feature, not a bug" is hot garbage. A transparent attempt to re-frame failure as success.
we glad that A.I has arrived and makes things easy but then that doesn't mean that attackers will be finally defeated as those A.I's are built by people so a evill A.I can still be created by an attacker
AND Just like that everyone in this field was replaced, for little to no cost compared to hiring fulltime employees vs an AI. I'm glad I was able to work in SOC for awhile before this replaced me, Its nearly impossible to find a job in cybersecurity TODAY but now that door has been shut forever........ RIP Everyone in cybersecurity............
This interview makes me wonder if I should still go after cybersecurity career. Would love for you to make a video about how the future job market for cybersecurity will be.
I think it'll still be along for a while (I THINK). At least longer than many other tech jobs. But I'd imagine when someone creates a really reliable AI that could effectively handle most cyber security operations, I could see it going by the way side pretty quickly.
All great but for one fallacy, AI takes a lot of computer power and training data and for now the big players are charging money to run your queries through their AI clouds. This is simply not an option for companies that need to protect PII (most do). If you put all of your companies emails through this then someone somewhere will be able to read it. That is today. Some providers like Microsoft bundle it with Azure and o365 which is linked (theoretically) to some private cloud instance but again using public API. A lot of changes need to happen before large companies' defenders will make this reality. Meanwhile threat actors already have a huge jump ahead. It's going to be an interesting next few years. Thanks David for another great vid!
I’m in the cyber security field I have a Google and ibm but no body is hiring who have no experience how do I get experience if I don’t get hired it’s a catch 21
AI got me again! I started a new career as medical insurance coder I stop Pursuit when they started to use AI. There's no point I can't beat the machine. Now that I've been studying cybersecurity AI has potentially taken over this. I already work in a warehouse with robots 🤖. This won't stop me but you can't learn and practice one thing about cybersecurity without 5 more things popping up.
Since AI is not intelligent, it will not be able to prevent NEW complicated attacks. It will take care of the boring simple and known attacks, which is good because like he said in the interview it will free the time of the researchers.
I'm not gonna be happy if Norton_AI takes up more than half of the i15900K's AI resources :( Would like to see a chunk on Main board, CPU, GPU, Storage to daisy chain some of the security features.
There is no workforce shortage. There is, however, a shortage of businesses willing to mitigate that "shortage" by rapidly upskilling existing employees to meet their skills demands. Don't complain when they leave to work at another company, INCENTIVISE RETAINING THEM! Try rewarding staff who upskill, not just by giving them an existing job, but by offering more than you'd pay an external hire.
Hello experts I want to start my career in cyber security but i need some counseling supports. where i can did get started. I would like to take cyber security online classes. Yes, i have an option for multiple short courses by Cisco or etc for entry-level but i think this field doesn't worth for short course trainings. I have a full time job and i love to learn this field by online. Kindly please guide me road map and appreciate your guidance.
Wow David! Now has to be the fastest i have ever heard someone shoot down there own adgenda. before it even got started! If I have 75 different products, i have 75 defensise. Even if i give all 75 of those to 35 million AI. They still only listen to me if I know the secret password! Like, wrong way to go about this my friend... Plus this idea of, oh, well if all three of these things are all going like this, it has to be illegal! or whatever. but by order of eliminations, there is still only one thing done at a time and if out of line. our firewalls are all over it. People get into your system simply because of laziness and lacjk of effort to protect one selse. No other impertenant reason
I'm glad they couldn't. But the fact that they TRIED to already is scary. Makes you wonder as these AI's become stronger...what the future will hold for us.
Some points are ok and valid, but frankly also lots of bs and sales talk. Cisco have never been good with designing interfaces, quite the opposite. CSM is to this date the only semi good design. Lot's of bugs.. 4000+ or something like that over 10 years, but still Cisco's best interface. FMC have been and still is some of the worst design and interface in the Industry seen from an everyday proactive usage standpoint. Cisco optimise not for fast and effective usage, but for being consultant friendly (slow workflow). I honestly think that this idea of bringing people in from various fields can be good, but ONLY if they have 20+ years experience in working with firewalls and security or related technical field. Else these people have no clue of what is going on! I see it often, younger people "28-38 years" coming from an academic "security" education and 1 - 2 years experience as pentester/analytic in some smart ass consultant company, and when they land in a serious job they totally fails is seeing the most obvious things to someone with 20+ years experience. It is a huge problem itself that non technical people get into this field of work in my opinion. AI will not solve this in a "secure" and responsible manner if the people building it think that the internet is something magical. (just an example).
AI is required to secure networks today. And the future of Cybersecurity is powered by AI. You better be using AI to secure your systems.

This why I call David Bombal “our father “ he delivers extraordinary useful comments
Is there any specific career path one can take for A.I and Cybersecurity? Like a hybrid career with credentials?
Nice interesting discussion and good to hear about AI and CISCO talking about Integrated Platform. Similar to this, SOPHOS has their "Synchronous Security" making use of AI in correlating huge data across all their products/solutions with a single tool for management.
Hi David, please tell me which smartphone is better: Samsung s23 ultra or xiaomi 13 ultra for stable operation of the WPSApp Pro application (for checking password hacking)

❤ Ai is the way to go.. Though the movie terminator can cloud your judgement
Using "terminator" and "judgement" in the same statement.. I see what you did there :)
Very informative, Great job David.
Thank you very much!
Final countdown will reach the point of Good AI vs Bad AI!
@@thefinness7849 " . . . we wont have your private info unless you give explicitly permission. . . "

So in the future, there are Red Team and Blue Team AI Developer? Especially for Cybersecurity
Great interview and responses. Mind opening. Cisco got a great leader finally. Hoping for the best.
oof this didnt age well after laying off 4000 workers
yeah just last year my master thesis was the use of AI in spam detection more specificly using word2vec ihow natural laguage processing can be used wiht combination of ai prediction algorithms
it was fun and seeying this vid reminded me of it
Sounds really interesting, is there by chance any way one could read more about it?
Question is does this all working for persons well being by itself in general and in specifics, and does this systems control for other systems not done bad stuffs, and does they notice persons behind bad actions systems for teach behave in more ethic and cultural ways. Very often because different situations, good tech or good life scenarios become broken, and it is all lead to bad consequences. Does there exist systems that control repair good tech and good quality life scenarios after any sorts influences in time frames.
y u guys have 2 mics dji and another one in hand i m just confused
maybe they want to have 2 sources of audio recording? maybe cisco required them to have that
There aren't enough security experts not because of gate keeping, but because it's hard. You have to have a broad range of knowledge and technical understanding. That's why it pays well.
And you guys can never compete with a plumber charging $500 an hour 😂 computer 🖥 Jobs are dying
Very insightful chat. I think AI pattern analysis will do great in favor of security.
Thank you so much David
It's great informative vedio on hot topic AI
So if the cybersecurity is going to be powered by AI should I invest money and grep this education?
You upload very interesing and informative video. kudos
Thank you. I appreciate that!
Indredible interview David! There is no getting around AI and understanding that it will not replace but change jobs for the feature. Using AI will be a part of every career!
Glad you enjoyed the video :)
always@@davidbombal
AI and cybersecurity will be a interesting topic from here on out.
Just because they have a cert doesn’t mean they have experience. Just remember that.
when he says they are not going to fire ppl if ai is implemented.. will they still retain the employees?
Whelp, based on the current cybersecurity landscape, all I can think of is the meme "I'm joining the war on drugs on the side of drugs" lol
@davidbombal, is studying security becoming useless then? The demand will drop significantly for security engineers
No sound on the video .. please fix it 🫣
i just wonder down the road will AI tools innately be better at offense or defense? if it ends up being better at offense than defense we end up in a world where no network can be secured.
Me: I want to transition into cybersecurity
AI: I already took your job
@devid is really a good teacher 0:27
Thank you!
is this just a big ad?
Very often digital world become not manageable, end even not reported about current situation to see things before they will lead to very bad consequences. It was very good said need to implement NLP feedback systems when interacting with digital world
20:40 so i think i have to learn cybersecurity and AI together
Interesting interview. But Jeetu's take that "hallucinations are a feature, not a bug" is hot garbage. A transparent attempt to re-frame failure as success.
Great content 🎉
What kind of AI skills are needed ?
we glad that A.I has arrived and makes things easy but then that doesn't mean that attackers will be finally defeated as those A.I's are built by people so a evill A.I can still be created by an attacker
AND
Just like that everyone in this field was replaced, for little to no cost compared to hiring fulltime employees vs an AI.
I'm glad I was able to work in SOC for awhile before this replaced me, Its nearly impossible to find a job in cybersecurity TODAY but now that door has been shut forever........
RIP
Everyone in cybersecurity............
Software engineering is going to be the first one to be overcomed by AI
@@olafharoldsonnii4713 so you think cyber will be better? I mean what jobs will be left?
@olafharoldsonnii4713 which tech job would be the least likely to be overcome? What about system engineering
Hi David ❤❤
Great session
Yeah, but how comes AI can't help solve a simple nagging issue as curbing bots in RUclips chats? Hmm!🤔🤨
It will take care of the boring simple and known attacks, which is good because like he said in the interview it will free the time of the researchers.
so you need to allow the AI to read your emails, hope this is optional
Think of it this way, when was the last time a top nation-state bad actor was interviewed of what they have for the AI future?
So does this mean studying cloud computing or cloud security or ai programming would be better and more in demand in the years to come?
Lol I got confused at first with the intro Song/music since it’s what the “The why Files” uses 😬
I'm not gonna be happy if Norton_AI takes up more than half of the i15900K's AI resources :( Would like to see a chunk on Main board, CPU, GPU, Storage to daisy chain some of the security features.
One needs cybersecurity bc of human flaws.
Thought this was Why Files when the intro music started
Great video sir
I wonder Rob Braxmans thoughts on this.
Smartedufy offers a number of free AI cyber courses..AI combined with data science will be the future of all the sector..
Great Video!

Oh, no! Security is not diverse!!! Security can never be secure until it’s securely diverse!
Hello experts
I want to start my career in cyber security but i need some counseling supports. where i can did get started. I would like to take cyber security online classes. Yes, i have an option for multiple short courses by Cisco or etc for entry-level but i think this field doesn't worth for short course trainings. I have a full time job and i love to learn this field by online.
Kindly please guide me road map and appreciate your guidance.
so basically getting my ba in cyber security was a waste of time?
Great presentation 👍
Thank you

So is there any profit of persuing in cyber security sector

I am a lot more worried about AI "response" poisoning than I am about data poisoning ... Remember Schumer, Schiff and the Department of Truth?
Interesting
random stock footage causes mental drift while trying to focus on the message. lol
Interesting....🤔
My company needs 10 security analyst asap
They tried to replace my security analyst role with AI.😂😂😂...IT DOESN'T WORK
I'm glad they couldn't. But the fact that they TRIED to already is scary. Makes you wonder as these AI's become stronger...what the future will hold for us.
If all your RUclips video was a course I would have alot of degree 🙂
Guest from 🇹🇹 ?
I for one, welcome our AI overlords 😊
Good
Thank you
Some points are ok and valid, but frankly also lots of bs and sales talk.
