Bayonetta’s soundtrack is honestly in the high echelon of gaming osts despite it being a little under the radar. I absolutely love Bayonetta 1 and 2 with a passion

Not even just the regular battle tracks but The Greatest Jubilee and You May Call Me Father should be played in concert halls.

“One of a kind” is still one of my favorite songs in any video game, it’s beautiful and powerful

I love Bayonetta and its soundtrack so I‘m really happy you reacted to it.
For anyone that‘s interested, there is a documentary called The Eyes of Bayonetta that you can watch here on RUclips. It goes into many aspects of the game‘s development like costume design, dancing, and of course the music. It’s worth a watch.

A bit of explanation for Iustitia : This theme is the boss battle against an angel called the Cardinal Virtue of Justice. Even his looks is completely twisted. In fact justice is the closest to humanity among all of virtues and the most twisted one. It can be divine and pure, but also corrupted and bringing malevolence. Hence the twisted theme and appaerance that is both demonic and angelic

Bayonetta herself is an Umbra witch. These types of witches are actually grey meaning they aren’t light aligned but aren’t dark either so are somewhere in between the extremes. Umbra tends to be more dark aligned magic but also have light aligned spells. It’s just a scale thing. Lumen is more light aligned just they have darker spells just there.

Yeah Bayonetta soundtracks are out of this world.
I would absolutely adore if you reacted to (at least some) of Bayo 2s soundtrack. They somehow topped it off, and added progression to many of the songs (to fit different phases of the bosses in the gameplay) and it brings even more out of the pieces IMO.

Highly recommend some of the tracks from bayonetta 2! Specifically Gommorrah, Devourer of the Divine and Insidious, Consumer of All.
Glad to have found someone reacting to the astounding music of bayonetta!

Bayonetta soundtrack was very carefully crafted as a fusion of old religious songs and modern music. Even the three theme tracks of the three games are modern takes of older songs. Fly me to the moon by frank Sinatra was re-recorded by Helena Noguerra for all three games. Bayonetta is the game that you fight through waves of heavenly forces and demonic monsters but with a mechanical twist as the creatures do have a machine look to them. Hence the fusion of musical styles.

It'd be fun to see you react to the one game who inspired many others : OFF (by mortis ghost, a french dev who only made this one game then disappeared).
OFF has inspired : Undertale (and Toby Fox work as a whole... and yes, it's not the only game that inspired him, but it's still one of the biggest inspirations he had, he even said it in an interview back then), most of the "morality based" games we ever had (if you know, you know), and many devs of the indie scene. It's definitely a huge game in terms of influence, yet is still underknown by the "classic" players, since most of the time it's the others indie devs that know about it (me included, cus yes I'm an indie dev, but we're not talking about me here).

"Justitia", "Fortitudo", etc. are part of the 7 cardinal virtues (opposed to the 7 cardinal sins). These bosses are the archangels that represent those very same cardinal virtues, and they kinda go nuts for some reason (no spoilers). The scenario is quite complex and good but is also and mostly an excuse to see absurdly exaggerated over the top cataclysmic things and other epic fight involving our favorite witch Bayonetta. Whether you connect or not your brain, you'll get an insane amount of adrenaline NON STOP by playing these games... but think of having some rest, since it can be exhausting and quite demanding. Oh and it's not a metroidvania series, it's a "beat them all" series, like the devil may cry series (the author is the same for both series).

But there's no spoiler in that - heaven and hell are essentially one and the same in Bayonetta, with earth being something in between - chaos realm. So, common trope would be how hell people help us (like Rhodan) and angel people are opposing us like what our enemy is.

Since you have no Metroid experience you should check out the Metroid Prime OST, it has a very unique "SciFi" sound.
