I had one of those Kia serentos here in Australia and they have a decent amount of safety and a reasonable crash rating. To cause that amount of damage they were OBVIOUSLY driving like a A hole.

I would say this was realistically an impact of 40 mph , probably the speed limit on that road , a simple two second distraction can give these results .
